No Papers? How to get a title for a used classic car simply 

I have tried this ....and it WORKS!!!! THANKS YOU SO MUCH a rundown of my experience 1) followed the instructions to the "T" mailed in the form plus the $$based on the nada guidlines.thing 2) a few weeks later I received 2 Vermont plates and a registration slip 3) in particular case I walked into a Florida DMV A) I said " I would like to register my vermont car in florida."---the dmv employee said " can I see your title " ...I said " I don't have a title , vermont doesn't issue title for cars x years old"..the dmv employee said "ok" B) I showed them the registration slip , and the verification slip from the Police officer .... 4) 10 minutes latter I walked out of the Florida dmv with a on the spot fresh. ..clean title ...and plates...cost $80 (for thr florida portion ) On a side note when the police came to inspect my vin # he didn't even exit the patrol car , I ran up to his car with the form he signed it ....chatted about vintage buses ...and off he went

Thank you so much for this video and info, I have 2 vehicles that I purchased without titles, 1989 Ford F150 from Mississippi, and a 1989 Ford Mustang from Georgia, I have owned both of these vehicles for more than 5 years now. I've been trying to figure out how to get titles on them, while I've been building them this whole time. It is definitely worth a shot to try.

This truly works I live in Chicago ILLINOIS where it's damn near impossible to get a lost title on a 25 + year old vehicle if you follow the steps and pay the correct fee's they will send you registration and tags within 20 days of full payment. I've had the car 4 years and could not drive without the legal tags that go on that vehicle. This truly works Illinois wanted $3,000 for a lost title just follow all the instructions.

Registered my 96 Aprilia and the tag matches perfectly with the plastic color scheme. I called them once to inquire about the sticker that's mailed a week later and to ask about a vanity plate. Very nice people and professional. Probably going to get a vanity plate as soon as I think of a cool one.

I just received my plates this month without going to Vermont. I followed his instructions and it worked perfectly. Just FYI don't forget to add the $75 for the registration fee.

Can confirm this works. Used this on my 89 S10 that I bought with no title. I applied for Vermont antique tags, it took about 6 weeks or so to get them after I mailed in everything. 6 months later I decided to try to register it in my state (Tennessee) and get my title. So at the county clerk's office I tried to explain the situation how the registration was also the title, they made some phone calls, and eventually created a registration. But my title didn't come in the mail. Instead I got a letter from the state of Tennessee saying that my registration would be suspended because I didn't have a title. So I called the state. They told me they needed a title, or a signed printout from the Vermont DMV that showed my Vin number and explained that the registration was the title. So I called Vermont, and they told me that wasn't necessary, and that I have to deal with the Tennessee DMV on my own. I called TN DMV back once again, and finally got to talk to a supervisor who did her research on the matter, and finally, my application for a title was submitted. About 2 weeks later I got my TN Title. A lot of headache, but worth it if you're trying a get a title-less vehicle back on the road.

This system works. I used it about 4 years ago on a non title car that I purchased. I never even used the Vermont plates. As soon as I got the Vermont registration I went to my state DMV and applied for a state title in my home state and had no problems.

i notice you have taken the time to answer questions the best you can, thank you so very much for the time you spend helping others out. i have 3 questions, first i am curious as to if you or anyone has filled out the forms and road tripped there? im 2 hours from a V.T. D.M.V .... it would be worth it for me if i could drive up, register right then and there and drive back with plates and a registration for my other car second question, as someone stated below have you ever been denied because you need a inspection of the vin??? i bought a 68 lemans ragtop from the original owner, they slapped repair plates on it in 84 and drove it like that for 30 years do there is ZERO paper trail on this car, only the bill of sale third do they require proof of insurance through the mail??? i noticed on their website it is a requirement for registering a car bought from a private party

Very good info. As you know so many old cars are out there with lost titles my Dad had a collection of Antique sports cars that he never titled but he always told me it wasn’t a problem in Florida since they had private tag agencies. All over and he only had to pay a small amount. For them to get tags and a registration for him one car he had for 40 years and he never bothered transferring the title from the original owner ? Mostly due to him being a procrastinator lol I was shocked That he didn’t have. Issues although i knew it wasn’t a stolen or missing vehicle since we knew its history and the car sat for most of my life in our garage. Untill a restoration was done an it was sold

I just did this in 2019 the links on the video might be a little outdated but if you go to the Vermont motor vehicle site you can click around and find the paperwork you need but it truly works Thank you so much for this video

Hi Busaru. I recently purchased a 91 Isuzu trooper with no title from a guy near where i live. He said he purchased it as a parts car with no title from another state. But the vehicle isnt salvage, wreck or anything. Im curious of what forms i have to submit to the VT DMV, and what process would be ahead of me for me to get this thing licensed? Thank you for your time. Btw: i have the VD-119 form printed and a hand wrote Bill of sale on a piece of notebook paper, would that be appropriate?

If you dont think VT really will do this for you go to their FAQ site. Do I have to be a VT resident? No. Do I need a VT Drivers License? No. Do you just want my tax money? YES! Fine with me as Ohio makes you jump through a million hoops and hurdles.

guys this is simple.he has a couple videos one even explains line by line how to fill out paperwork.and u can look at vermonts dmv website.it tells u straight out u DO NOT need to be a Vermont resident to register a car there,and they r a no title state.but u do need to pay sales tax on low book value.it is what it is.i would of paid a lot more than 400 bucks to get a title.i did this for a car/beetle.i don't know about bikes ,boats,etc.all I know is I researched it and did it.some states wont like u running VT plates more than 30 days.but the whole point is to get a title in your state anyways.i cant guarantee anything.but I followed the rules and it worked for me.

Hello sir is this still available to do I need a title for a Firebird

I have a 72 Gran Torino that I need a title for , but the VIN number does not show up in the Department of Licensing system anywhere. it has original VIN tags on it, but has been sitting for over 10 years. I can have it been verified by a sheriff's department, but the DOL is telling me I have to wait 3 years for title. if it's not in the system and there are no previous owners on record, why would I have to wait 3 years? Is there any way to get a title for it now?

Just went to south burlington s dmv to register my 1995 chevy silverado. Filled out registration paper and went to window and came out with plates. Easy, the lady said we didnt even need our bill of sale notized. No title for truck either as its older than 15 years. Can be done by mail or in person.

I bought a 1975 Chevy Caprice and had it registered to me in Georgia with the bill of sale. I wanted to get a title for it and of course GA won't give me a title if I didn't go to the DMV with one. Just found out this works in my state, I was skeptical because our DMV/DOT laws are strict, but I saw proof. Oh so many possibilities for this. I can't tell you how many good deals I've passed up on in the past because of missing titles. I usually only buy stuff with missing titles as parts donors or strictly for off road as long as this loophole remains open, not anymore.

Got my plates, then 10 days later, the registration! Save yourself any trouble and just use the NADA value like Vermont does. My plates and registration for my 1929 Essex was $350. That's a deal for peace of mind.

Why do you block out your tag when you drive the car on public roads showing it freely. Always wondered why people do that?
