I hate how people are calling Pink a monster. Ever since Rebecca Sugar added “her victims” people are just dismantling her image by calling her evil horrible and a monster. Pink was abused by her own diamonds who were practically her moms. She was thrown in the tower every time she wanted to have fun until she apologized for her actions. My theory was that White probably hurt Pink so much that it caused her physical form to be much shorter than her fellow diamonds. I hope that Rebecca adds scenes with Pink/Rose that would redeem herself instead of damaging it. No hate to Rebecca cause I love Steven Universe and I love Steven Universe Future, but I just hate how people felt so bad for Pink and now all of the sudden people are switching up and ganging up on Pink. If anything it’s White,Blue,and Yellows fault. White: Manipulative towards Pink making her believe she was nothing but destruction Blue: Emotionally controlled Pink as seen when she used her powers on Steven Yellow: (Personally I think she was just a dick to Pink) she was saying without saying “You’ll never be a diamond”

The show needs to hold the other Diamonds accountable for Pink's behavior.

I feel like white, yellow, and blue are kind of at fault.

Pink isn't bad. People are just forgetting that her character development is backwards. Which means Spinel's abandonment happened way before Pink even thought of making the Rose Quartz disguise. And back then, Pink was careless, bratty, and mean. But because of Earth and it's beauty (and Pearl of course), Pink decided to change. Some of us are calling Pink a bad person after we found out that Spinel was abandoned. Yes that wasn't nice and she shouldn't of did it, but what else was she going to do with her? Spinel got on her nerves, and abandoning her was Pink's last choice. (I love Spinel a lot. Trust me, but think about it) Not all of this was Pink's fault. Some parts of Pink's issues started because of the other three diamonds. Pink has been abused and misunderstood by them a whole bunch of times in her life. I know the fandom feels like tearing Pink Diamond apart for everything bad she's done. But not all things Pink did were bad, actually. Like running away from Homeworld and making her own army on Earth with Garnet, Pearl, and all the other Crystal Gems. (I didn't add Amethyst because she wasn't made until AFTER the war was done) I know she basically abandoned the Gems too after she married Greg, but hey, we wouldn't have Steven today. What I'm saying here is that we should forgive Pink for all her mistakes that she made in the past. Just because her development is backwards, doesn't mean we should get mad at her NOW. I know she was selfish and all that, and she faked her shattering. But most of the stuff was good. I said most because not ALL things Pink did were good such as Spinel's abandonment, cracking Pink Pearl's eye, etc.

In an emotionally abusive relationship with some sort of parent figure. The kid can go 2 ways. They can be childish and throw tantrums, or they would act older than they are supposed to be. In pink's case, she was both. EDIT: I BET THAT ONCE REBECCA EXPLAINS THINGS THE FANDOM WILL BE SO TWO FACED

Your theory makes a lot of sense, it could explain why she left spinel way better than "she was abused, so she abused her gems". First, I thought she could have left Spinel in the garden because she would be easily recognised, because: how many playmates could have been made? But your theory is a lot more reasonable, I've seen some people making theories about Pink growing up, but they never mentioned Pink pearl or Pink's change (when she stopped being so silly and became more serious). Nice theory and amazing video.

The funny thing about this is; she actually Did brake Pink pearl, As Seen in "Valleyball", She says that pink had a scream that could brake the walls, and that she couldn't keep a secret even if her life depended on it. When she broke her Pearl, she must have been rather traumatized.

In my opinion. PD probably thought of the other diamonds as a mother figure. But were they good ones? No. Atleast not from what we've seen. Honestly this is enough for me to know that PD isnt the monster people make her out to be.

I think the one thing that portrays Pink Diamond’s feeling, and what most people fail to realise, is the song, “Love Like You”. As she is living as Steven, she realises all the mistakes she has made in her life. And yet Steven still looks up to her and she doesn’t know why that is. I think that song tells the audience how Pink Diamond feels about herself now that the Crystal Gems have revealed the truth.

I'm kinda late but.. Pink Diamond: - saved earth - gave Pearl freedom - the reason Ruby and Sapphire got together - brought Steven into the world - basically saved Spinel from getting shattered (she'd totally get broken in the gem war) - like she says "everytime you love being yourself, that's me, loving you." She loves Steven even if she's unable to see him - the entire reason the show exists

its funny, rose was always so into the idea of being "human" but thought it was impossible for her, but she was one of the most "human" characters in the show and just didnt realize.

I don't think she intended to leave Spinel forever. Even before the war started, imagine what the Diamonds would have done if they found out she was still "playing" with an old toy instead of working on the colony.

Why are haters looking at pink before, the whole purpose of pink story is showing a charcter that was abused and showing her growth over the years

This is just me but I think that towards the end of her life Pink was the person everyone viewed her as, mentally strong and emotionally mature, a true paragon of perfection. But the thing is that you just can't reach that level of perfection without making an extremely long list of very extremely serious mistakes. Because you can't properly mature without making mistakes, that's reality. It's just that Pink's mistakes are on a whole other level. I like that Pink's arc is being told backwards because it shows that someone you think is completely irredeemable can in fact change....it just takes a very long time and Pink had over eight thousand years.

Also people forget that "Spinel" was meant to be a literal "toxic person". So just because Spinel says she tried to make Pink happy and Pink were happy with her, that is what she thinks and who says that she had at any time enough empathy to really know how Pink felt? I think there is more behind Spinel than just "the cinnamonroll left behind" everyone jumps to as well. If she were so much of that deep inside, then she would not hit so harsh down on people that were not the culprits as well. Our reaction to things shows who we are inside truely. If that anger and hate is there and goes outward and not inward, then there is more to the situation than just "pink left her". I rather would like to know more about that. But I don't think we ever get to see that. I do agree with your standpoint however full heartedly.

I believe that she wasn't a terrible person, she was an abused mess that was told to grow up while being treated like a child. The only reason she, as opposed to the actual monsters the other diamonds were, is seen by so many as a monster because her redemption was overshadowed by steven honestly hating his mother because he thought that she was still in him. She had a redemption arc behind the scenes that nobody noticed or wanted to pay attention to because it came before we learned who she actually was. When people found out that Rose was Pink. they flipped thinking Rose was evil when in reality Rose WAS the redemption arc. She was able to mature and grow without the diamonds overshadowing her every move. Sorry this was long, I just wrote this to show my point of view before watching the video. I believe people are way to harsh about the Spinel incident. Pink had recently lost her best friend, which was replaced by a new one, as if the old one never existed... Pink probably loved Spinel, but it just wasn't the same. It's like having your sibling/best friend killed, then your parents make you a doll to replace her. You love this doll but it just isn't the same and brings back your old memories. I think it was a possibility Pink couldn't deal with being reminded about her old friend and wanted to start new, she put the doll in the closet. Now of course Spinel could only really stay in the garden, sorry I'm just too tired to explain.

The real monsters are the ones who bully, harass and demonize this and other fandoms as a whole.

I think that they best way to see Pink Diamond, especially before she went to Earth, is as a child trying to learn how to grow up. The "elder" figures in her life are expecting her to already act like she's grown. They keep reminiscing about her when she was more childlike and never think about her as someone who was serious about anything, even though they also expected her to "act like a diamond." This would be like expecting a toddler to already know how to behave at the dinner table while also remarking how proud they are that they can sing their ABCs.

A very good video. Well argued and presented. I feel Spinel never really fitted with the continuity of the show, but this theory could kinda make it work if it was canonised. I also believe she is not a bad person, even if she did some awful stuff. I've always never hated Pink, I always believed she had a reason she did all that. She was always abused by the diamonds, for being childish. She couldn't be herself, which is why she loved the earth and wanted to protect humans. On Earth, she could be who she wanted to be, Rose Quartz. I think this is why she left home world, I'm sure this isn't really right but I guess this is just a THEORY.

I think she left spinel because she was growing up and didn’t need spinel because it would remind her about being a Diamond and she wanted to move on.

I always hated that Pink/Rose has always gotten so much flack, but we just let every terrible thing the Gems do fly. Everyone conveniently likes to forget that the Gems also did morally awful things, like Amethyst turning into Rose to spite and hurt Greg, Pearl almost killing Steven multiple times and rubbing it in his face that he didn't know his mother, and of course Lapis attempting to DROWN him and Connie. If Rose doesn't get off scott free, neither do they.

I agree that she isn’t a monster. She was the young sister of the Diamonds and was bratty and entitled until she got older. Her evolution into Rose Quartz was a releasing of the power of her Diamond identity and the embracing of individuals with loving concern for their well being and absent subjugation and class expectations. Then she evolved into Steven who loves people and the planet more than anyone. She gave up being herself so her son could exist. She started selfish and fairly self centered, but as she grew she rejected the entitlement her position gifted her. She’s far from perfect, but she was good.

People always attack me for kinning Pink Diamond when in reality she's an unintentional antagonist trying to overcome learned behavioral after realizing how beautiful earth is & finding out she can escape to it. She's a spoiled brat yes, but that's a reaction of trauma because she's been severely abused by the diamonds not taking her seriously or listening to her. Then I also get attacked by people saying "how can you kin both Steven and Pink Diamond" bro because they're both so similar regardless of the fact that Steven wants to be nothing like her. It's another thing about trauma, sometimes abused kids end up picking up abusive patterns from parents, or even genetically, mental illnesses like Pinks BPD coded with PTSD and so is Steven. It doesn't excuse the actions or mistakes she made but it does mean that she made significant progress and that she's literally an alien with little to no experience with dealing with others emotions and having relationships in a healthy manner. Isolation and inexperience with people and how to properly have healthy relationships can also manifest as what can look like autism symptoms so considering that it's probably just as hard for her to do things that people on the spectrum struggle with.

Fr after the movie ya’ll were quick to turn on Pink knowing Yellow,Blue, and White have conquered hundreds of planets while Pink didn’t even pick to conquer she was being force to take out all life on Earth and she turned against the Diamonds for it. Everything she did had a purpose

The point is, Pink Diamond suffered a lot of abuse. I think that she was trying to be someone better after she accidentally broke the Pink Pearl/Volleyball - like, thinking "the other Diamonds are right, I have to change." But it was when she saw all the life on Earth was when she actually began to become a better person. However, as you said, probably she wasn't able to get Spinel back or thought she would go on with her life.

I agree with your points 100%.Pink Diamond is NOT a bad person.I would say she is a good person but with a problematic past. You can tell she always had a good heart and cared about other living beings.Also, Pink leaving Spinel behind was completely unintentional.She intended to come back eventually, but her becoming Rose Quarts and the war for Earth, she completely forgot about Spinel in the process. It was too late to go back to her after fake shattering Pink Diamond and the damage of the Diamonds permanently breaking the galaxy warp making it impossible to even go back to the Garden.And my proof for this is because on the DVD of the movie Rebecca Sugar said that Spinel being left in a Garden represents a childhood memory in her life.When she was young little girl, she left her Teddy bear in a Garden for several months until she finds it and sees it's been permanently damaged by the heat of the sun (changing the color of half of the teddy bear).In other words, she left a toy in a garden and forgot to come back to it. Just like Pink Diamond.

Pink was made to be a horrible dictator as that’s what Diamonds were expected to be. She was taught that treating all gems beneath her is the proper attitude for a Diamond. She was stuck in a cycle of abuse, which is a real and dangerous thing. She was given problems with no good solutions and she had no choice but to pick either the bad option, or the worse option. She was put in real life situations and people hate her for it. She’s genuinely the most human character in the whole show, and it pains me so much to see fans hate every part of her just for one part that she most likely regrets and hates as well. Pink was depressed, she was abused, of course Spinel isn’t going to be able to fix that, and of course Pink’s going to end up doing bad things, that’s just how it works, and for people to hate her for it genuinely feels toxic. What if they met an actual person like that?

I agree with you on pretty much everything. Pink made BIG mistakes, but she isn't/wasn't a monster. I'm also speaking up for Yellow and Blue as well, since as far as we know they had no one but White telling them how they "must" act, to teach them how to interact with others. It doesn't justify all the horrible things they did, but it makes it more understandable. When someone who can LITERALLY possess you and take away your free will tells you how you must act, most people would obey, and over time convince themselves that this is the only way things can be done. White probably had someone telling her how SHE should act as well at some point, but we know nothing about that so I'm unsure about her. ONCE AGAIN: I'm not saying that Yellow and Blue are blameless or purely good. They should have tried to come up with better ways to do things. I just don't think they are inherently evil either. They definitely love Pink and each other, they just didn't know a better way to do things.

This theory is sorta canon Also, real spinels were used for replacements (like replacing Peridot for the fandom) But the thing where Blue says something like “you need to finish this colony” could be that she had no time to play with her. Or maybe it was because Spinel was too annoying and attached to her. And the color pink mostly symbolizes with innocence, so that’s really stupid when serious people consider her to be worst than the coronavirus

Just found this video and I'm glad I did lol. Ever since it's been reveled that Rose was actually Pink Diamond, it feels like people only ever talk shit about her. Like how could she start a war with herself and not use her authority as a diamond and speak up to the other diamonds, or start the rebellion as a diamond, while not taking into account how hard it is psychologically to break from the people you been thought to fear and respect, people who have authority over you. Sure, many of PD's decisions weren't thought out but fandom, and even the show, has been treating her like the worst monster ever and it's been bothering me a lot, glad to see that there are people that see she is also a victim here.

My opinion is that we're seeing pink diamonds growth in reverse and she's already redeemed we just focus so much on the bad things she did. That moment you speak about that regards pink pearl could be a key to learning/seeing her in the proper light

Pink damaging pink pearl, forgetting Spinel and raging over not getting a colony happened when pink was a young spoiled brat. All that was before she saw What the diamonds were doing to the planets and before she changed. Lets not forget all the good things she did aswell. Saving the earth, throwing away her title as ruler of earth and fighting to let gems be Who they want to be. Also, rose didnt create Steven to leave all her problems. She couldnt have known of all the things steven would go through. She thought the gem war was over and steven would live a happy life. Also in wats sacrifice has to be made. You cant blame her for corrupting all those gems. They joined her and fought for What they thought was right. Peridot wanted to destroy earth and kill the crystal gems and she changed. No one hates her. The only thing Im a little bit mad about is the Bismuth situation. We dont know totally What happened. Did rose instantly poof her when she showed the breaking point or did bismuth attack her first. I think bismuth attacked rose first since she said «Hey rose, look at This new weapon i made. I will say it again, don't put 12-year-olds on a throne. People will only remember the immaturity of their reign and not remember the ruler grew to be better. To regret past decisions and try to be in the best in the present.

i love this show so much, because its clear that that no party in here had any malice in mind when doing what they had done. it was a long chain of pain from all sides. and gems are known to not understand emotions fully, whether its their own or others'. Most gems needed Steven's help to healthily cope with their emotions and trauma, which is why Pink's character is so tragic- she never got the chance to meet her son.

I thought I’m the only person who thinks that Pink diamond isn’t as bad as most people say.

I remember people commenting on the part where Pink is talking with Blue and Yellow and Spinel is trying to get her attention and Pink gives a annoyed look at her. I don’t remember the comments specifically but people were really irritated at this scene and commenting on what faces she made at Spinel. I agree that she was annoyed but not in a bad way. She was talking to Blue and Yellow about her soon to be colony and she was trying to act mature in front of her moms/sisters. She was annoyed that Spinel couldn’t read the situation that this was serious for her and didn’t want to mess it up. I just wanted to expand on this scene and add on to why Pink isn’t bad :)

5/5 on your theory. Pink is complex, like her color, she is a mix. Both good and bad actions can be done, but we hear about her from a secondary source rather than the Gem herself.

Pink Diamond is quite complicated. I can't find it in me to see her as a bad person. Some actions have unintended consequences, a theme present in Pink's entire arc. I believe that since Pink was created by white, it was obvious she was different. She was smaller, more impulsive, and seemed to care about other species besides gems. White, being the controlling narcissist she is, most like told Pink that she was less than all the time. Pink pearl even says White told Pink that she wasn't fit to run a colony, and it likely didn't stop there. Blue was emotionally abusive, literally forcing Pink to feel bad about things she shouldn't have felt bad about, like being herself. Yellow obviously had no qualms about manhandling Pink and tossing her like a rag doll, if "Jungle Moon" is any indication. As for the Spinel situation, I agree with many of your points. Pink really did TRY to be happy with Spinel, but she wasn't truly happy being confined to a garden with a gem that knows no limits to playtime. She was smart enough to know that Spinel was a replacement for her OG pearl, and a distraction by her family, who saw her presence as annoying unless she was entertaining them (singing underwater, throwing balls, etc.). It's no surprise that she did what she did, but it is a surprise that she didn't do worse. She honestly could've snapped and became actually evil,

I've actually thought this too! An added reason why pd left her was because she couldn't for the life of her see spinel as a 'person'. She saw her as a robot made to mock pink pearl. Pink pearl was her own thing, but spinel didn't seem sentient, she was programmed to serve her. Would you throw away a robot? Unlike pink pearl, pd saw spinel as lifeless.

They didn't fuse together since Pink Diamond didn't know that mixed gems can fuse with each other. I thought they fused too until i saw the episode "Volleyball" and when i remembered what happened in the episode "Now we're falling apart".
