It's so awesome how Eve's battle theme sort of has an unreliable narrator thing going on. Can you really be sure whether Zuke or Mayday is hearing the true track? Is Zuke so biased that he only hears the tracks underlying message and blocks out the more "experimental parts," or does Mayday hate EDM so much that she writes off Eve's music as insane without really listening to it? For all we know, neither Zuke nor Mayday's side could be the true song.
I see it from Eve’s perspective. She still holds feelings for Zuke, which is why his side’s music is calmer. For Mayday, while Eve doesn’t hate her, she hates the idea of her stealing Zuke away from her, which is why Mayday’s side’s music is more intense. It’s also present visually, with Zuke’s side being more serene than Mayday’s side. Both Mayday and Zuke are hearing the song correctly, it’s just that they’re different songs that just happen to share a base.
As amazing as DJSS's boss fight is, I find Eve's to be much more...idk, elegant, beautiful, emotional, idk what term to use. It's just so incredible. Not just the music, no, but the entire encounter itself. And the energy is really just something else. This fight almost brought tears to my eyes.
Someone on RU-vid (idk which video) commented on how Eve’s theme was weak compared to the others. I called bs on that, because Eve focuses more on her artwork than her music. Despite that she does a pretty good job, as the music itself reflects on her current emotions
Why hello, Zuke. Take a seat, Zuke. Remember this chair? Or has it fled past the walls of your memories. Not that I would be surprised if it has. A chair, by design is never maid to hold such- Sentimental values. This chair was once yours, Zuke. But you threw it away. Shh shh shh, all is fine. You are forgiven. Now lay yourself soon this vessel, And accept my gift. Feel the sands of time flow through your body, As you once had. She embraces me for who I am. I love her, but a chair without a sitter is left with no purpose to exist. Ugh. Just as I thought. You share none of Zuke's artistic perception. Girl, do you not see Tatiana holding the backrest to her bossoms? *HELLO?* Do you not get what it is ment to represent?! UGH! ZUKE! WHY MUST YOU PICK SUCH A PEDESTRIAN GIRL?! YOU- Zuke. Remember collage? Remember when I was the tectonic plates, And you were the sea? The heat we channeled when your waves broke upon my earth was *euphoric.* We were untouchable! Do you not miss those times? Do you not yearn for that feeling again? Instead, you left me for this- This girl?! Have you dropped your standards?! That is sad. so, so sad. But...You are here now. You are in front of me. We can save together, as today, We celebrate your redemption, Zuke. So...Open your mind... Sink into my gaze... And *LET YOURSELF BE REBORN AGAIN!*
IDK why I would Fall for that lines. I would feel awful if I ran away like that. I will apologize, and actually leave Mayday behind If the game could give you the option, (then you would only have mayday vs Tatiana)
If you pay close attention , water & earth (sea & Tectonic plates, as she calls) Do not Mix, but they channel each other in a way that they both make a chemical reaction that makes fire. So Mayday, is not pedestrian, it is the result of the connection as a person
I just found this comment but, I remember playing her boss fight on Mayday's side and oh god, I couldn't even move a tiny bit because of how much the hand was shooting at Mayday-
@@porcupieiscool1703 Yeah, I found Mayday's side more harder. Oh, I think I know why! Eve was jealous of Mayday, because Zuke left Eve and would rather be in a band with Mayday, so Eve decided to give Mayday tougher obstacles.
9:59 God the intensity of this part with edm and partial rock together feels so amazing to hear I wish they would release the tracks like this! I would listen to them on repeat 😭
9:59 is actually so insane. The one thing about EDM or instrumentals if done right, you can literally hear the emotion. Phase 3+Partial Rock is literally Eve trying to annihilate Mayday with all of her strength, rage, jealously, and intensity and Mayday is just fighting back JUST as hard.
For anyone who's a little confused on what tracks play for each side, here's what I got from it: Note: This doesn't apply to the Switch version: (Warning this is very long, read slowly to understand) "Enter Eve" plays as normal before the fight during Eve and Zuke's conversation. "Intro" plays when Eve talks about College before the fight. "Phase 1"'s whole instrumental in-game works in a weird way. It's always: Base -> (Lead Base + Backing Rock) -> Rock From what I've seen, it ALWAYS plays in this order on Zuke's side of Phase 1, (and for 2 player). It actually plays like this on Mayday's side too as when the fight starts, it automatically switches to playing as Mayday. The only time when EDM plays in Phase 1 at all, is if you switch back to Mayday after switching from Zuke. So if you switch to Zuke and then back to Mayday, it plays: EDM -> (Lead EDM + Backing Rock) -> Rock This means that on Mayday's in-game mix it would be: Base -> EDM -> (Lead EDM + Backing Rock) -> Rock The way Phase 2 and Phase 3 work in-game is much more simpler, it plays Base for Zuke, and EDM for Mayday (It isn't labelled as EDM in this mix, but it is what plays). Zuke's side for both Phase 2 and Phase 3: Base -> (Lead Base + Backing Rock) -> Rock Mayday's side for both Phase 2 and Phase 3: EDM -> (Lead EDM + Backing Rock) -> Rock Note: Phase 3 Rock also plays when your controlling both players at the same time in the final tunnel. Phase 4 always plays as Rock. In-game, Mayday doesn't play in Phase 4. But in this mix, I think it was a good idea to keep Phase 4 to make the song feel complete. 2 Player acts as if you never switch character so for both sides it's: Phase 1: Base -> Lead Base + Backing Rock -> Rock Phase 2: EDM -> Lead EDM + Backing Rock -> Rock Phase 3: EDM -> Lead EDM + Backing Rock -> Rock Phase 4: Rock The switch version has a entirely different structure (I'm not as certain about the order here), As Zuke it’s: Phase 1: Base Phase 2: (Lead Rock + Backing Base) Phase 3: (Lead Base + Rock) Phase 3 (Final Tunnel): (Lead Base + Rock) Phase 4: Base - I've actually seen 2 playthroughs, one of which actually played (Lead Base + Backing Rock) so I'm unsure now. As Mayday it's: Phase 1: Base -> EDM (Plays IF you switch to her after playing as Zuke) Phase 2: (Lead EDM + Backing Base) Phase 3: (Lead EDM + Backing Base) -> (Lead Base + Rock) [It changes to match Zuke's side] Phase 3 (Final Tunnel): (Lead Base + Rock) [It changes to match Zuke's side] Phase 4: (None)
God, this is exactly how it works, I really didnt know the Switch version was that diffrent too. If i ever get around to making switch renditions then this is gonna be super helpfull!
Something I should've clarified in the message, "Lead" here refers to both the Melody, and the Rhythm. [As from what I've gotten from other comments, the boss tracks for each version are in 3 parts, the Melody, the Backing, and the Rhythm.
The Switch version of this boss fight is weird music wise. As Zuke it’s starts as base, then partial base, then rock with base melody, no rock melody As Mayday it start with EDM, then edm + partial base, then rock with both rock/base melody.
This music just sounds so artistic. And later on in life I do want to be a game developer, so now this inspires me maybe just to make a game with music like this.
When I first heard this song this was my least favorite boss track out of all of them. (it was a little too slow and relaxed for me) but now it slaps, especially the EDM version.
I know it has been like a year, but I do have access to the game's files, it is all on a guy's Google drive, the files are not named tho, but there is a text file at the bottom of the drive that has some useful info on how to find the stuff
Eve's theme always screams Dreamweaver Realm from Spyro: Reignited to me. Also, I think she'd feel right at home with the Artisan Dragons (Perhaps find another boyfriend there so long as she doesn't singe his hair. Delbin maybe? 👀)
I looked up the realm and I gotta say it’s definitely a place where Eve can express herself. She’s gotta be careful though as her techniques can get a little extreme at times
yo I really love the Dreamweaver Realm from spyro original and reignited. Also Eve is my fave character from NSR next to Sayu so thats awesome to read! Also Delbin Reignited....100% husband material lol
@@guidestwave2958 I don't think it would be possible because these are taken from the game files. So since there isn't a Phase 4 partial track, we can't get the full song. The only exception would be Phase 3 in the Switch version where it plays Base + Partial EDM.
The partial rock / edm track versions aren't released as videos, but do play in the game (Partial rock is a mix of the Base or EDM lead and melody instruments with the backing instruments like bass of the Rock versions.)
this is true, probably because it's not used in the game. Agro should make different versions if he can, since NSR has a boatload of different compositions depending on what or how you play.
@@mrteddy718 The way instrumental works for phase 1 is weird. It's always: Base -> Base + Partial Rock -> Rock on Zuke's side but it's also like that on Mayday's side as you start as her, it only plays phase 1 EDM if you switch to Zuke, and then back to Mayday following like this: Base -> EDM -> EDM + Partial Rock -> Rock.
