Ostlund is first and foremost a passer. He is usually trying to find his teammates to create offense, and possess the skill to make those plays happen. That doesn’t stop him from having a high quality shot of his own, when he chooses to use it.
Quick strike offense on the PP, Ostlund finds the open space to the side of the net. He appears to be looking to set up the man in front, but instead puts the puck off the goalie and into the net.
Taking the puck into the offensive zone out wide, he moves it smartly back into the slot to set up a quality chance, and a rebound goal.
Knowing his teammate has speed going to the net, Ostlund makes the play for the give-and-go. Though the pass doesn’t connect as intended, his team still gets a chance out of the play.
