A fashion designer (Eva Green) suffers from a mysterious illness that confounds her doctors and frustrates her husband (Mark Strong) - until help arrives in the form of a Filipino nanny (Chai Fonacier) who uses traditional folk healing to reveal a horrifying truth. RLJE Films/Shudder's Nocebo -- directed by Lorcan Finnegan from a screenplay by Garret Shanley -- will be released theatrically on November 4 and on digital and On Demand on November 22.

The nocebo effect is the exact opposite of the placebo effect: negative expectations and feelings regarding a cure or treatment, even when completely harmless, can make the patient have harmful symptoms. Interested in how this will play out.

Looks like from the description itself the trailer is leading us to believe the maid is the villain while infact she's trying to help her from the real villain. Could be her husband who wants to get her insurance claim. Or he probably hired the maid to make his wife's condition worst only to have a change of heart.
