Trump vice presidential contender, Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) revealed details of killing her family puppy and goat in a new book. Abby Phillip & Laura Coates have the transcript, and dog trainer Zak George reacts.
Jesus Christ. wtf? She shot him because she didn’t understand how to train a dog that was literally bred to grab birds? And she shot it in a gravel pit like a psychopath? And the goat too?! What is happening here?
I had an animal companion die a few weeks ago, I still feel terrible and this crazy b*tch is shooting hers. I feel bad for that goat, it was trying to get away
She killed a puppy for being a puppy and killed a goat for being a goat. The GOP is ready to kill U.S. democracy for being U.S. democracy seems to be the message.
She knew the type of dog she had. She did not train it adequately nor control it in a domestic situation. For her failings she killed it. What kind of farmer does not know a Billy goat has a strong odour?
@jenniferhendrickson8038 I grew up on farms. The way that story reads is cruel. She using the farm connection as an excuse. Good farmers are taught to respect animals. Yes, sometimes hard decisions have to be made. These sound like convenient excuses for someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
@@jenniferhendrickson8038 did you? the "entire story" is not merely in the words spoken, but in those not by not at least covering available options (in order to show that she has at least considered them) she has shown who she is - I believe her
Depending on the state, with her writing her own crime, animal cruelty laws may be different, but there are some universal anti animal cruelty laws. She does need to have this on her wrap sheet. Maybe Left & Right understand you don't kill fucking puppies.
@@EJWash57 It's unlikely she'll be caught in the lie but even if she is, GoodLord, Trump lies with every breath and life goes on. Once her book is out, she's going to be on every network doing interviews, flogging her book, and sweetly explaining herself, all for free. If she presents well on air people will soon forget the story. A lot of people who didn't know her now do, and everyone is talking about her. All that stuff makes her situation better, not worse.
This story makes me sick .We lost our 3 year old yorkie to a liver shunt a year and a half ago.My family is still struggling to get over his passing away .
Notice how she's not content to have just killed a dog. She then goes looking for another animal she can kill. The super creepy part is where she states there were witnesses (that she was oblivious to) and that her kids got off the school bus right by the gravel pit where she just killed two of the family animals. Why would she kill the animals near the bus stop, around the the time her kids were due home? I wouldn't call that sociopathy. It's full blown psychopathy. There was nothing impulsive about her behavior. It was a cold, calculating power trip that was not satisfied by just killing one animal. She had to add another to get the full rush.
She was negligent in multiple ways: 1. Not training the puppy 2. Not containing the puppy while visiting the chicken owning neighbors 3. Not having the goat neutered. What a heinous, awful, psychopath!
@@danncherylseguin5845 She shot her kids' pet puppy because she was too lazy to train it. Then she mentioned that her kids miss the puppy AS A FUCKING PUNCHLINE. INDEFENSIBLE

@@lisadavis9535 Indeed, this was an act of vengeance, "You have teeth, I have a gun, let's see who wins". A very petty act by a very cruel person who stopped maturing at the age of three.
That is not true. Plenty of dog owners have had to endure the unfortunate task of euthanasing their own dog. The only difference is that some people probably think taking it to a vet makes a difference. It doesn't. It's just a way to remove oneself from the action. But they are still klling it.

@@DragonSlayer-ii3ww I was judging your statement, not you. Just as bad behavior in an animal does not mean a bad animal, bad behavior in a human does not always mean they have ' deep mental disturbance'. In both cases they may not have had enough love and guidance in their formative years to develop properly . These people and animals need more love, not less.
@@maplebones Yes, you were! She told that story for political gain. She's a grown woman. She knows right from wrong. I never said she didn't deserve love. That's your interpretation of what I said!
The mention of her daughter getting home from school and asking, "Where's Cricket?", makes it clear that this was a family pet, not just a hunting dog.
You seem to have skipped the part where the cog got loose, killed a bunch of chickens, and tried to bite her. We had a dog that went after our neighbors sheep. This dog was a killer, and we put him down because he would have continued his behavior. He would not have been a good family dog either since he was raised partially as a wild dog.
The dog got loose because she was careless and did not make sure it was contained before she got out of the car. I’ve had many dogs throughout my 70 years and always make sure they are safe and secure in my house, yard or car before I open a door. She is stupid as well as cruel. A skilled trainer could have evaluated the dog to determine if she could be trained or needed to be euthanized as some dogs unfortunately have to be for safety reasons (per my dog trainer). Noem is disgusting.
Ample research backs up the finding that there is a direct link between acts of cruelty to animals and violence toward humans. This includes child abuse, domestic violence, elder abuse and other violent behavior.
People keep trying to excuse it with “sometimes this happens on farms”, and they’re half right. But you don’t just kill animals because you don’t like them or they’re “untrainable” lol anyone that isn’t a psycho can see that
You better bring evidence or they'll be charging you with filing a false report. A story in a book is not a confession. It's just literature. Maybe you'd like to charge Santa Clause with fraud at the same time.
Animal cruelty. Who would shoot a puppy and a goat? This proves my point on why I won't vote for Trump. I'm sure he will ignore this and will applaud her on her actions.
You don’t know anything about Trump: This is DISQUALIFYING to TRUMP. This is DISQUALIFYING to all Republicans. Look at the reaction by Republican Politicians and Republican Voters. Republican Politicians are all over TWITTER, voicing how REPULSED they are.
In South Dakota, any person who subjects an animal to cruelty is guilty of a Class 6 felony, sentenced to two years imprisonment in a state correctional facility or a fine of four thousand dollars, or both. "Cruelty” means to intentionally, willfully, and maliciously inflict gross physical abuse on an animal that causes prolonged pain, that causes serious physical injury, or that results in the death of the animal. Governor Kristi Noem admits she intentionally, willfully, and maliciously inflicted gross physical abuse on 2 animals that resulted in the deaths of both animals.
From Canada We adopted an identical dog who was brought up from Georgia. He had been deemed ‘dangerous’ by the Georgia Humane Society, and was going to be put down. The Canadian Terrier group rescued him, flew him to Canada and he is the most loving, happy little dog you could imagine. We adore him, and he loves living in Canada This twisted woman personifies the level of stupidity currently gripping a significant portion of American society. I understand she gave her young grand child a revolver for a birthday. As a well known author recently said “America does not have a political problem. America has a mental health problem”. We agree. Good luck🇨🇦
She doesn't sound like she has any problem-solving skills. I would hate to see what she would do to elderly or sick people who have multiple problems that are hard to solve.
Me too. I just weeded the graves of my cat and dog, gone respectively four and two years and just sobbed and sobbed. I will never get over their deaths.
What a shame, that she did not take the dog to a facility that absolutely reeks of other animals' fear, to be handled by absolute strangers, in order to have it's final moments of life be a panic attack. Is that the takeaway here? Rather than a quick ending in a familiar environment? These media clowns are the real sickos.
@@fitmesslifeThat creep did NOT have to kill the dog. She could at least have tried to find it a home first, but no! The first thing that came to her sick mind was kill, kill, kill!
No, but she probably yelled and kicked the dog and that didn't work. Her head shape has some things in common with Neandetrthals, but they lived in peace with animals.
She took Cricket on one hunting trip and gave up. She wanted Cricket to hunt birds. When Cricket kills birds, Cricket's owner gets upset. I have met 12 year olds smarter than this woman. This is the person South Dakota elected to be their governor.
This story broke my heart. My sweet golden doodle, Koko, has been struggling with colitis for weeks now, and every flare-up keeps me up at night. The thought of someone harming a healthy puppy is more than I can bear.
yeah animals do not have complicated thoughts like humans do. If my cat acts different than usual, there's an underlying cause; there's nothing malicious behind that action. Cats' and dogs' behaviors are a reflection of how they're treated and trained. I'm sad for that puppy and goat, I'm glad Noem outed herself for the world to see and brought a tiny bit of justice to their deaths...
I grew up on a farm with hunting dogs what your reporters read and what Norm has said really doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t claim to know all of what happened but the suggestion they put down a young dog a male goat and 3 25 year old horses in such a short time period is disturbing. We had to put down animals but was extremely rare and the majority of the time it was a coordinated effort with a veterinarian. I can only think of once where my father had no choice to do it with an injured animal to keep him from suffering from his injuries. We NEVER EVER did that to a healthy animal with a gun. She needs to seek professional help! Damn!
To be honest, if Registered Republicans were to ever hear Republican candidates speak without any filters, they certainly wouldn't be Conservatives any longer. Most of what Registered Republicans want, Democrats offer, but registered Republicans don't fact check or research, so they fall for Right-Wing propaganda.
Like who shoots a goat, misses then shoots it again because it dirtiest their kids clothes! She qcouldnt have penned it up, given it to someone who would are for it. God this makes me sick
Killing a puppy instead of training it is just pure evil. My Westie puppy bit my feet constantly. She drew blood. I spent 6 months training her out of it, and years reinforcing her socialization, for 16 years she was the most friendly, loving, funny dog. Im so glad she was part of my life, and I strive to be as friendly and positive as she was every day.
😮this is definitely animal cruelty and doesn’t deserve any more recognition, she should be ashamed, banned from doing , anything in public positions evet
I don't know what's worse. The fact that she literally shot her puppy because she didn't know how to train it, or the fact that she thinks this is "normal" enough behavior to actually write about it in her book.
Yes, not only did she think it's normal behaviour, she actually considers it to be something to brag about, to be proud of. Because she knows how to make tough decisions 🙄. Poor dog.
The first is - conceivably - something that a person with an out-of-control life, a serious anger management and impulsivity problem (and usually in a substance-addled state) can be shocked and ashamed about later, can regret forever, and can later see it as their “lowest point”. The day they completely lost it. People with very dysfunctional upbringings or severe trauma (such as war) have occasionally made this sort of journey. The second, her rationalisations and her normalising of it - it’s *definitely* worse. It tells you what she truly, deeply is and always will be.

Not just the Sioux; but several other Native American tribes in South Dakota have banned Governor Noem from their reservations. Hopefully the remaining tribes in South Dakota will follow suit after Kristi Noem made extremely derogatory remarks about the Native American tribes in South Dakota.
Obviously Noen has no idea how to write a book. Her antidote creates a picture of a woman being driven by hatred and disjointed priorities, ending with her child asking "Hey, where's Cricket?" Many other questions have been created with this little episode. She is living in her own world. Not everyone is as hardhearted-- even farmers.
I stayed on farms as a child with my aunt and uncle, and on our "family farm" owned by a great-aunt and great-uncle. They were anything but hardhearted. I often watch a channel called Cog Hill Farm, and they are so kind and loving to all their animals - even their extremely stinky, somewhat obnoxious, intact male goat. Noem not only sounds disturbed in some way, but she sounds as if she has no understanding of animals - nor of conservative Americans. I tell you, as a whole we do _not_ understand or approve of her actions. She is an idiot to think we could.
Even the way she mentions her children in relation to this is a big tell. If this had actually been any kind of considered “farmer” type decision, she would have explained it in advance to her children. She was just a callous entitled woman having a tantrum.
My family has had Irish terriers for 25 years. They have a particularly strong, “difficult” temperament and are highly intelligent because they independently worked on Irish farms to keep them free of vermin and they were also guard dogs for their families. They LOVE children and are happy go lucky, but they are physically fearless with very strong determined minds, requiring strong, VERY loving structure built into every moment so that they always know who is in charge. When they sense their owners aren’t taking charge of things, they will become unhappy and will assert themselves. I remember asking our breeder what she thought of shock collars for this breed, because I think the method of “training” is horrible, and she said, “The Irish will very quickly learn to withstand the pain of the highest settings, and then they hate their owners forever.” I cannot imagine how that barbaric, sadistic Governor treats her children.
Actually, there are some pretty good books on that topic. Google Kevin Dutton, for example. You don't have to be or feel like them, to be able to understand them...
Fundamentalist religious people will understand. To them, humans have DOMINION over non-human life and children, and human children are to be beaten into obedience, so animals are treated even worse.
No, it's done if it's a threat, too. Though in both cases, the threat could have been avoided had she shown more awareness of the nature of her animals.
@@brucewilliams2106The dog bit her when she tried to come between it and its prey. She never tried to train the dog to retrieve and drop prey. She is sick.
I had just thought that also, then read your comment. Yes, she was jealous of the dog. Her daughter will NEVER forget this! I doubt they'll speak much after her daughter leaves home.
It's odd that she decided RIGHT AFTER killing the puppy that she decided to kill the goat. She got something out of killing the puppy that she wanted to relive again.
What a disgusting human being to have killed a PUPPY in such a cruel way and then think that she has the right values to lead people. She is a real life Cruella De Vil!
Everyone is skipping the obvious. If this woman couldn't be happy with the dog she could have placed it in another home with someone who could provide it with a happy life.
Instead of rehoming them. What an evil person. I can't even kill a bug that gets in to my house much less a family member. If she can do that to an animal because she didn't want to put any effort in to them, imagine her empathy as a politician.
Aside from lack of empathy, consider that she didn't even attempt to find alternatives or seek out other opinions. She possesses absolutely the WORST weaknesses in a leader, especially someone being considered for a position that is first in line to the presidency.
Something pissed her off. First, she killed her dog, then she went after the goat. That bat shit crazy woman does not need to be anywhere near the Oval Office. She ought to resign!
Killing a family pet and not preparing your children is a big emotional disconnect. Documenting her actions in a book and not understanding the public backlash illustrates a big disconnect. Disturbing.
These days, seems to be. I have a cousin that used to rescue dogs, cats, birds, you name it. After she drank the Maga cool-aid she's completely flipped, said we should put our 14 year old dog down just because he's going blind. It's the cult following a cruel leader
......only after Clinton, Bush and Obama are tried for international war crimes. More people are upset over this puppy than they are humans being killed and used to weaken Putin in Ukraine.
One thing that any dog owner knows, is that Cricket shall live and be loved forever in the heart of that little girl. May she grow up strong and wise, and learn from the mistakes of her mother. _Cricket, we hardly knew ye._
Noem isn't the only person that thinks pets are just agriculture. There are plenty of instances in the south, were people dump their unwanted dogs on country roads, and when those dogs look for help, and wander on others property, they get shot by the land owners. Thousands of dogs are transported to the north, because we UNDERSTAND it's NOT the dogs that failed, it's those things called HUMANS that failed.
Oh, and not just pets are agriculture. ALL animals are looked on as tools or nuisances. This is the most rural region I've ever lived in, yet it's the most lifeless.
This is not a southern thing. I've lived in both north and south and this is just the way many humans see animals. Many farmers and ranchers see animals this way but many don't. My mother was a ranch girl and she had the kindest of hearts toward animals. She was a Texan. You are labeling people and it's very unfair. And Noem is NOT a southerner!
Oh please! I live in the "North" and shelters won't even take in any more dogs in most places because people do not understand how much work owning a pet is. I agree what she did is terrible, but you are making baseless claims.
@@grit5124 Where I'm at, people are like Noem. Animals that can't earn their keep without you having to bother yourself much are an annoyance to be gotten rid of. Admittedly, I'm in FL. but farmers are farmers. That's the 4H ethic in them. God gave you animals to USE like consumable, disposable, renewable products. To do otherwise is an insult to his beneficence much like turning away Grandma's homemade apple pie.
@@Mr.White10-65 Yeah. The shelters in the north are swamped with dogs rescued from the rural south, where animal shelter means a neighbor's old barn and animal control is a shotgun. I could load up a truck with stray dogs within 24 hours if I had a tranquilizer gun. One of the first things I was told when I moved here was to be careful about walking in the woods. Not because of coyotes or bears or rabid coons. The good christian folks here have already killed all that. But there are packs of feral dogs to watch out for and they didn't get there by themselves.
