Nokia 3310 (2017) review: A week with Nokia nostalgia 

I am switching now. I want my real life back.

I still use mine, its indescribable to say how nice it is to "switch off" the bombardment of social media and be able to look where Im going without bumping into people, yet still contactable if needed.

The perfect phone for people like me, who hate smartphones :)

He keeps comparing the 3310 to a smartphone.

I have this as main phone and it feels so good to have a real phone again that isn't need charge several times/day! and with a touch of nostalgy!

Fun fact: I used an original Nokia 3310 made in 2001 literally 2 or 3 years ago and survived and i didnt have a laptop or tablet and the only computer access i had was at school so i would be 100% down with the new nokia as my phone and have no qualms whatsoever

This is a crazy. Why are you looking for apps? It is a backup phone for emergency purposes. It is irritating that he compares it to a smart phone. A phone is basically for calls and sms. If you dont have people to text and call then a 3310 is really a problem for you.

Thanks for the review, it was good, although I think you were a little too harsh and expectant of such a simple straight forward phone. After all, the feelings of frustration you were experiencing were just the muscles of patience and common sense being exercised again. I think it's great, everything in this world is instant and unnecessarily easy and convenient. A phone like the 3310 could probably bring back more VALUE and QUALITY of life again. Not to say we don't need social media etc, but that's why we have a pc, laptop or tablet.

I have been using it for phone calls from 5 months ago It is really good Excellent call quality Excellent Bluetooth pairing with my car system. Excellent battery life - 3.5 days.

3:13 isn't the idea of that phone is to use it as a phone and texts and not check emails or web browsing. Thats what mini tablets , sorry I mean smart phones are for.

3310 gives you your life back, if you NEED a smartphone then your life must be extremely boring and that individual will not be very well adjusted to the real world. sad really.

Good review, but you're comparing a basic phone with a state of the art smartphone. The feature phone is primarily a call and text machine - not for continuous internet browsing which you show here. You're lucky to get basic browsing for news and thats it. Don't expect a bells and whistles features like those on smartphones. 4g? If you have this phone, I think 4g would be the last thing you'd be concerned about? This phone is aimed at someone who wants to just call and text, otherwise people would buy a smartphone.

No apps, no Facebook, no twitter that's exactly what I want while at work Will buy this for my Monday to Friday 9-5 work And keep smartphone with addicting apps when I come home

a huge mistake to think about this phone as a main device.. this is the perfect back up device.. u simply can't go backwards. I'm getting this phone for sure.

You know I disagree with these comments about this not being a daily driver this phone has sauced my life I was so addicted to my phone and had to get a grip with my constant social media and googling. Also tons of games. Before I got addicted to clash royale I had tons of friends and a hot girlfriend and then supercell came along and my life literally disintegrated within two weeks. Friends? None. Girlfriend? Nope. But on the plus side I made a sick deck. However I have cut my addiction and my grades have soared up (yes even my school life and results had plunged and it's getting much better). It's also refreshing I had almost forgotten what the world looked like through my eyes rather than a 5.1" AMOLED. Thank you for reading my story.

This is nothing, but capitalising on the 3310 name. Who would need this nowadays? I owned the original and it was EPIC back in the day, but now it's just a good memory.

I wouldn't expect a recreation of an older phone to be particularly fun to browse on. If you're interested in this phone, I would hope you aren't going in expecting it to work just like a smart phone.

Ahhh I remember my Nokia 5110. Snake! Those were the days. Mind you. I really miss my Motorola rokr. My favourite phone. Music sounded so good on that. And the haptic transforming glass keyboard. Wow.

This Nokia is a travel tool and also has a battery life which can be reliable as long as you can , what an exciting property , I am a huge fan of Nokia

I think it would be great to use when I'm unpluged or don't want to take my iPhone. I still get service and it's less than $100 to replace when it falls off the side of a mountain.

Really missed the point of this phone as many already said in the comments. I would not mind using this as a main phone and having a tablet for the functionality missing when compared to a smartphone. What you probably should have talked about, and what no one seems to talk about is that they put a 2G modem in it. Many contries are going to shut down their 2G networks in the near future and this will render the phone useless, actually some contries have already started this process. I will most likely keep on using my original 5110 and 3310 as a backup phones in the car for as long as they will keep on working, if this had a 3G radio in it I would have replaced the backup with this.

Er.... I own and daily use 2 feature phone, Nokia 215 and an oldies Sony Ericsson C902, but even I know that I shouldn't ever hope to find something like Spotify in it... Heck, the oldest OS you can find them, which seems to just died due to lack of support early this year was the version for Symbian. BTW guys, buying an old classic like Nokia N79 is a much better option for a 2nd phone like these rather than buying a new feature phone, those can be found just as cheap as these feature phones but still pack every single hardware modern phone should have, like 3g, wifi, gps, accelerometer, min 5 mpix camera, bla bla.. All while packed inside a shell that's made of quality materials, I used to forget how solid a phone back in the day feels...

Internet? I thought the whole point of switching to a phone like that would be no need for a data plan.... Was I wrong?

I have the 3g version of this phone. No need to save numbers to your SIM, you can transfer them via Bluetooth from your smart phone to the Nokia, very easy.

how is the group text on this phone?

I bought one just to be able to have an Icelandic number in addition to my Norwegian number. I think that it works great for my use. I always carry my iPhone 7 Plus as well. If the iPhone had been able to take two sims, I'd probably manage with only the iPhone. At first I tried using my old Samsung S5 Neo as the second phone, but it is really too bulky and heavy to carry in addition to the iPhone. Anyways, if I'm going to a festival or something, the Nokia takes two simcards at once, making it simpler for me.

Buttons can be much more convenient than touchscreen in certain situations including games! Did he even try holding the buttons down to scroll faster in Opera Mini?

You speak of the inconvenience of not having navigations apps...sure they're handy, but how about life before smartphones? We had the smarts to find out where we were going, using road signs, etc.

Hello everyone. Can this nokia 3310 be used as a internet router to other devices such as tablets?! Using bluetooth?

I bought this phone as a pure back up phone that i will use only 4 work and dont wanna have all my contacts see what I'm doing on whatsapp and so on... I think its perfect for a 2nd mobile device because the battery capacity is beyond all phones on the market and hey its a perfect phone 4 work because no more charging problems. and when you are at home you can use your normal smarphone and this phone is essential. Not only nostalgic. It is a pure mobile phone what you really need. SMS Phone ability, radio, Camera, alarm clock. As said ESSENTIAL.

I want to buy this phone for my mother who doesn't like smartphones. Is it a good choice? I have read some negative customer reviews which support that the phone consists of very bad plastics. Is it true? If it's not a good choice, can you suggest me a better feature phone?

Why I will buy it : -decent battery -alot sturdier then an average smartphone -not being the head-down idiot on the Streets looking at a screen...being more social is the key with this Phone! I've had my share of troubles these last 2 months with 2 Iphones and a huawei , all 3 with cracked screen and 1 IPhone even completely unusable after a fall...so yups, I'm done with smartphones!

In fairness once you got the phone set up then many of the issues in this video wouldn't apply. When you buy a phone surely you check out what size SIM it takes and if the phone has an SD slot I always put extra memory in. The Facebook, Facebook Messenger & Twitter apps are now available. There is even Yahoo! News available. Enjoyable video

I set one up for an elderly relative today.cost £40,easy to use,basic and all the better for it.It was never mean't to be anything else.Even trying to compare it to android etc is missing the point completely.

This is like comparing a moped to a Corvette. As far as the map is concerned, is there a reason that you didn't use the browser to attempt getting directions from Google? The 2G thing would prevent me from using it on my carrier; that's the only disappointing part that I found.

To go this route I may as well get a Blackberry Bold 9900 or the Classic for a better experience. The Bold for talk and easy texting and the Classic for talk/text and web

It's silly to try and use this phone for the things you do on your smartphone. This is the phone you get when you want to detox from apps, email, facebook, Instagram etc that you use on your smartphone and go back to the days when a phone was just made for calls and texts.

It is expensive as a feature phone in Egypt you can buy Samsung galaxy j 1mini or Lenovo a 1000 at the same price

I really need this phone. I have an iphone 6s plus and I love it but... he does everything I want except keeping enough battery when I need to receive or make a call lol not to mention i'm kind of addicted to check social apps and make stupid selfies. I'm seriously thinking about get this little guy and leave my iphone at home.

I can understand if you get quick irritated with Nokia 3310, this phone will *never* replace your OnePlus, it's meant to get simple.

I sadly wasted around 80 usd on this phone after reading that it would last around 30 days(battery) on standby. I like simple phones without to much jiq jack apps. 3 times within 14 days i had to recharge it and am only using it as a alarm clock. I almost never phone or sms anyone, so whatever the phone is using battery on beside keeping itself "alive", is beyond my knowledge. I prolly go back to my Thai copy model Nokia x2-2. Atleast the copy version lasted longer than 2 weeks. So much for become "modern".

It sounds like you're trying to replace a smartphone with a feature phones but have the same functionality. I don't know who is buying it expecting it to have an amazing camera or have app support for apps like Spotify or WhatsApp ( however if WhatsApp was willing to support it then Nokia would happily put it on as per interview when asked) Personally I'm considering getting it as my phone and then using my OnePlus 3 just as a overkill MP3 player and pocket camera.

I have a different Nokia with the same Series 30+ operating system: the Nokia 225, made by Microsoft, not HMD Global. It's absolutely terrible. I'm considering buying the Nokia 3310, but before I do I need to know if they've fixed a whole bunch of problems that the Nokia 225 had: * Only 200 SMSs in memory at a time. Worse, it doesn't automatically delete old messages to make room for new ones; you have to do this manually. * Only 25 calendar items in memory at a time. No automatic deletion of old calendar items, so go hunt through the last few months to find the ones you forgot to delete before you can add a new one. * No custom ringtones for individual callers. * No custom ringtone for calendar reminders. * A weird bug where anytime you open a Java game, the volume levels of all of your profiles are set to 80%. This includes the Silent profile. It took me ages to track down why my phone was randomly ringing in meetings even though it was ostensibly on silent. * No ability to connect to a PC for file transfers or for use as a portable modem (I used my old Series 40 Nokia 2710 as a modem all the time). * When typing an SMS, as soon as it gets to three or four lines long it starts getting really laggy. * When I've tried sending a photo to someone by SMS, they either never receive it or can't open it. Have you tried it? Can you tell me which if any of these problems you experienced?
