There must have been a lot of waiting around for blue hour on this film. It looks incredible, natural soft midtones and deliberately underexposed silhouetted foregrounds. It's sympathetic to the landscape and adds to the overall tone of the film. Guy clearly knows what he's doing.
This movie was incredible. I hope it wins best cinematography. Can you imagine having Joel Coen come on set and watch you film his wife? I'd be shaking the camera too much.
I was so moved by the trailer for this movie that I immediately googled, downloaded the book and inhaled it in a couple nights. I am fascinated by this lifestyle - the good and bad. I think because I see myself in these people and that might be me in 15 years. I can't wait to see the film and I was thrilled to learn that some of the people in the book - Linda May, Bob Wells - play themselves in it!
Arri is the company you grow and trust for a lifetime. I bet Joel thought the LED on a c-stand was cool. He's pretty down to earth. It was really nice to hear how humble Joshua is.
Randomly saw this video, it is a really humble one that Joshua talked about his shooting experience with Chloe. I love other pieces as well, which they together worked on. I believe those are real cinema art when big box and tech injected films everywhere nowadays! Very much proud of my two NYU fellows! 👍🌻
