Journey to Ungoro was the first expansion trailer without a song, and the fans were so upset about it, they started a petition for the game director Ben Brode to sing a song for the expansion instead. He did.

@@Ratovx Ben Brode was a massively entertaining guy and pretty much born to sell card games, but his decisions were not always for the better and the decisions taken after he was gone were not always for the worse. To give two examples: "More deck slots might be confusing" and "preserving the soul of a card (give your Charge minions +1 attack)"

@@maxmichalik4938 eh the more deck slots thing was purely a system limitation and he wasn't allowed to go out say "Blizzard is too cheap to invest some manpower into rebuilding deeper aspects of the game code currently".

@@luchts4547 If that was the case then he'd have said something along the lines of "we're thinking about it but there's no plans yet" as they usually do. But the devs have since all but admitted that switching to more deck slots was internally controversial.

Hearthstone sometimes explores "what if" situations. In World of Warcraft Jaina is no bad guy (yet). The "knights of the frozen throne" expansion explored, what if Jaina and the other heroes became "Death Knights" (or the new Lichkings/-queens).

Hearthstone and "Hearth and Home." A hearth is the floor or area infront of a fireplace. It is often used to symbolize the home, a place of warmth and comfort. In the online game, there is an item called a "hearthstone" which is used to transport yourself back to an inn (a place of warmth and comfort). The card game is named after this item.

Jaina Proudmore is voiced by Laura Bailey, also on Critical Role and on so many other games! After a while you recognize all of their voice in many games and other things...when I do I almost skip to the credit to see if I was right !!

In trailer of Knights of the Frozen Throne you can see how a good mage turned into evil because the power that she received after defeating each of the opponents. It's even audible in the voice, it takes on an evil and otherworldly note

@@HannaHsOverInvested Also to give you context, Hearthstone is set in the warcraft universe but an alternate version of it, the cardgame is a card game in world of warcraft, but it almost acts as a "peering" into another timeline. So jaina as you see became corrupted and became a death knight like her once boyfriend arthas, but thats only in another timeline/universe, not the main one we see in world of warcraft.

To be more precise, Knights is set on a timeline where ALL of the playable Heroes from hearthstone turned into Death Knights of the Lich King.

Fun fact: Because that first trailer you saw this time around was the first of the series that wasn't a fun song, many people were disappointed. So the lead developer of the game recorded his own Hearthstone-flavored rap song, at home with his webcam. That exploded so much in popularity that it remained the most upvoted thing on the Hearthstone subreddit and got remixed and adapted to fit the animated trailer multiple times by multiple fans. And then for the next expansion (Knights of the Frozen Throne), which again wasn't a song, he did it again. Just look for Ben Brode Rap if you are interested.

A lot of the characters in the Rastakhan's Rumble trailer were trolls invoking their patron Loa, sort of powerful spirits that are just shy of true gods in power. The loa often take the shape of animals or dinosaurs but some will look like trolls themselves, like the Loa of Death Bwonsamdi. That expansion was focused around the Gurubashi arena, just a good ol' fashion royal rumble. Super excited to see you do more of these!

I am so glad you reached Rastakhan's Rumble! That's my favorite one! The spirit animals are called Loa. They are animal (90% of the time) demigods who are worshiped by the trolls in Warcraft lore. Some noble troll families have a direct connection to a Loa and receive it's blessing directly like the champions in the tournament the song shows. The Loa of death exploded in popularity when he was expanded upon in World of Warcraft during recent years. He's a got a spooky conman vibe to him so people really like his shenanigans. Hope you react to some of his cinematics from the game some day.

Blizzard's cinematics have always been incredible. With hearthstone nothing is really canon. It's just an endless set of 'what if' vignettes. Those spirits behind them are loa. Most trolls follow some form of shamanism or ancestor/loa worship.

Urgoro Crater is a big crater in World of Warcraft with dinosaurs "No take candle" is often said by Kobolds when you fight them. They use a candle on their heads to see in the tunnels they work, so their biggest fear is to lose said candle.

Scouts from first trailer came back in recent expansion of Hearthstone. They are all grown up and they ate mercenaries now

10:49 a big theme of that expansion were the Troll Gods (called Loa) which mostly take the form of large animals, thats why you see those animal spirits in the trailer.

The thing about hearthstone is, whilst it is based on wow, nothing is cannon for the official wow timeline. As such hearthstone explores many "what if" scenarios. For example what if Jaina had followed in the lich kings footsteps and become an evil lich.

In the rasktakans rumble trailers the "spirits" that the trolls were summoning are known as loas and are basically worshipped as gods by the trolls and in return the loas gift the trolls with power.

Also I *think* (I didn't see any related comment at least) no one pointed this out, but Hearthstone is not really considered "canon" in the Warcraft Universe, the developers use a lot of it to explore "what if" scenarios (like the frozen throne "what if jaina and the heroes were evil) or to be whimsical, over the top and so on ^^

Jaina is not a bad guy, but there are of course people who would love he to be a dreadlord (which are bad guys), and Hearthstone has not to stick to the canon of Warcraft, thus they made an evil version of her for the Hearthstone players to enjoy. And I played the hell out of that card!

You are coming up on the Year of the Dragon (2019) which was the first year that had a year long storyline. It had sooo many trailers. I recommend watching the video that Hearthstone Mathematics edited of all of them together along with in-game story beats. It was uploaded on March 28 of this year as a way of celebrating it right before the cards from that year got removed from the Standard format.

Apparently all hearthstone expansions is like stories that were told in a warcraft tavern, so in them good might become evil (like all main characters become death knights) or anything could happen basically.

this is alternare universe - during knights of the fozen thronee they gave all of them alternate ego, what would happen if they were turned to death knights, you could play that cad during game and it would change how your hero worked

the witchwood characters in the trailer are wolfen. correction in the game they are WORGEN. unlike classic werebeasts, they don't have any healing factor like werebeasts classic types. they can be killed by weapons, you just have to make it count.

TLDR: Everything in Heart Stone is focussed on comedy and is non cannon outside of few very specific things like the Book of Heroes. I don't know if some one has said this already But I didn't see it so I'll say... The events of Heart Stone are non canon to the World of Warcraft Universe, while some characters crossover between the 2 and maybe even some events it all to be taken with a hefty side of salt. Heart Stone is much more focussed on silly fun then Story telling unless you count the Books of Heroes and Books of Mercenaries which either summarize the story of a hero from Heart Stone (who are all actual characters in WoW) or... Well to be honest I have yet to determine the goal of Book of Mercenaries as only one is out but it detailed the journey of a recruit from the Frostwolf clan trying to find her place in the Horde... Of course there exists the adventures accompanied by the expansions but even if those do have a comprehensive storyline it is still focussed on just silly fun and is non cannon to WoW Lore...

Hey Hannah, If you like these musical videos that blizzard does, You should check out a video called "A toast to 15 years" They sing a tavern song much like the ones from these hearthstone videos you like so much, and they celebrate a lot of stuff from the Warcraft universe. And the video features a lot of prominent celebrities that have supported the game over the years. I think you'd really enjoy it.

"These are great at setting the tone!". Yeeeaaah. That's Blizzard. They have excellent music and excellent art direction but when it comes to telling a compelling story they always seem to fall flat. I don't know if they're throwing all the veteran dungeon masters out of windows or what but, they need writing that's on par with their art direction.. x_x

So a little explanation for you as to how Hearthstone fits into the story of WoW, it basically doesn't. The game Hearthstone exists within the world of Azeroth canonically, and all the cards are basically fan-fiction versions of actual creatures and characters within the world. That's why Jaina (Daughter of the Seas) turned evil in that one trailer. None of that ever actually happened in the story. It was basically the people of Azeroth saying "what if these world-famous heroes had become Death Knights?", and then adding that to their card game for fun. Hoping that little explanation helps and makes future trailers you watch for the game less confusing. Just keep in mind that nothing you see in the trailers are canon or really have anything to do with WarCraft's actual story. They're strictly for fun and aesthetic purposes.

This has probably been said before, it seems the list you have doesn't have the Hearthstone Animated shorts: "Hearth and Home", "Win or Lose", or "New Pack Day". I'd suggest watching these as well as they are rather entertaining.
