Many thanks - just copied BOTH the files in your link to the formatted thumb drive, plugged it into the 7740 - and IT IS WORKING WITH THE NON-HP CARTRIDGES!! Brilliant!
THANK YOU so so much, the non-original ink is now finally working on my HP7740. It has taken me 2 years and many emails to HP (who clearly don't care!) - but I can now afford to keep my printer, by using the more affordable ink cartridges. What a huge relief! Your instructions were easy and to the point, and your files were downloadable as promised. Bless you for sharing this! Really! PS. to those following SimplyBS instructions - do exactly as he says, it does work. Remember the printer restart, and use the USB to re-install previous printer firmware, as I tried doing it from the laptop, and it initially didn't work. All is working now. It tells you that "non-original or cloned cartridges are installed" - but it still prints perfectly and shows the ink is full.
Thanks So much for taking the time to work this out. I used to be a Compaq / HP engineer and have always bought HP. Along with my 7740 I have an office jet 400 colour, these will be the last two HP devices I will ever purchase. I will Never recommend an HP again. A life long supporter lost, well done management consultants! Good bye a much loved brand. P.S. on my W11 machine it said the file length was too long of the Ful2 file. So I used a W10 machine with 7zip and all worked fine. again Thanks.
You sir, are an absolute life saver. Found out my 7740 updated a few weeks ago and when I went to change my toner I got this exact message. Following this guide has resolved all my issues now and auto-updates have now been disabled. Thanks so much!
Hi, and thanks with your information and a little more "digging" I have managed to overcome the dubious practices of the evil empire and overcome "Dynamic security", or to be more accurate robbery on my HP 7720. If I sold someone a car and then stopped them from using it unless they bought petrol from me at 3 or 4 times the cost of other filling stations I would be thrown into prison and rightly so. Keep up the good work You are one of the Good Guys.
@simplybs9311 hey Brent from ccpr I have been trying to find your business on social media but no luck so far where in Trinidad are you located need some help with my 8710
Brilliant! I spent an evening and most of the next day trying to overcome this HP installed malware. Yours was the only solution that worked. Downloading the FUL file was the key. Thanks for posting links to where to download from.
I thought my printer got mad at me for doing this because it started spitting at me, but THANK GOD IT WAS SPITTING OF JOY. I am back in business and you are a RockStar sir!!
You're a star. I tried downgrading from computer apps, but nothing worked. This worked first time. I won't buy another HP printer again thanks to this.
Hey guy, you saved my live a second time! They made a new micro-program update again!!!! Just incredible. But thanks to your video I got through and fixed the issue! MANY MANY THANKS AGAIN !!!!!
Thank you. This is great. I initially didn't get the "update printer" on the USB, but restarted the printer and was able to update to the required firmware.
Thanks for the info. The firmware downgrade worked perfectly on my HP office jet pro 8210. HP ink cartridges are an absolute rip off selling for over $100. I got a box of 3rd party carts for $40. They didn't work at first but now no problems. Thanks again!
Totally worked. I bought my printer about 5 months ago. I was able to use non HP cartridges once, and then all of a sudden, it wouldn't let me. This work around fixed it.
Thank you SO MUCH for this helpful video. I can now afford ink for my post 2016 HP printer! This step by step guide worked! It seemed complicated at first, but is so simple. I appreciate you so very, very much! You made my life better. I have an officepro inkjet 7740. By the way, I will NEVER buy an HP again. I will not support companies who monopolized their own supplies. Total robbery.
Brilliant! Well done, good sir. I am not the most tech savvy, but I was able to easily follow your instructions and successfully printing again. Hooray!
After days of frustration trying to get non-OEM cartridges to work I was close to giving up and buying expensive OEM cartridges. But yesterday I found your video. Your clear instructions worked perfectly! And disabling the auto-updates tip was the icing on the cake. Thank you so very much!
I was in a holding pattern for four days not able to print. After searching and searching your video worked!!!! My problem is solved. This was very thorough. Great job!!!!
This worked perfectly! I was about to throw out my printer. It worked perfect I just had to download win rar so it could see the file that was zipped.worked perfectly in my 7740.
Hi so can you run through how you got the .ful file to work via command prompt if you dont mind? Or am i reading into this wrongly? Because I know my way of doing it is via usb port but many people said it doesnt work for them on some models that way.
@@simplybs9311 Provided that the printer must be shared in the network. In my case, the share is 8715. CMD Promt must be opened in the folder of the flash file. The command is then: copy /b weber_vr2_pp1_WMP1CN1848AR_nbx_signed.ful \\localhost\8715. A message should then be displayed: "One file copied". If this is the case, it takes about 5 minutes, the printer restarts and immediately prints a status page ;-)
@@simplybs9311 With pleasure! The automatic firmware update including blocking of accessory cartridges is a mess. In my case, I had 2 complete sets of cartridges that no longer worked, although they previously worked without any problems in the 8715. I hope that many users will take advantage of the downgrade option. In fact, it was not easy to find the firmware I needed for my printer. Thank you for making the files available for download!!!
OMG … thank you so much… it worked just fine for me too !!!! I can now use my non HP cartridge again … and most of all I've choose the "do not check" button so I won't install the upgrade by mistake ( i had the "upgrade" message on the screen and probably click on it by mistake ( cause I knew i shouldn't do it because of the cartridge )!
Thanks, It worked great! Now I have a pile of cartridges I can use. When my printer stopped working for one vendor I tried a couple others thinking it was a problem with the chips.
the update option isnt showing on printerthe update option isnt showing on printer Edit: (SOLUTION)use his older ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6Brcgjgf9Uc.html video was able to solve this problem by update/downgrade of the firmware directly via computer. He explained what files to download for this to work in the link to his blog tutorial in the video tutorial description. I was using windows 11 and hp officejet pro 8710 printer
Thanks ever so much, worked like a charm - after I had originally thought that my printer was bricked by a hardware issue. Must have missed the messages about the cartridges by printing from a phone and then when I tried to print I just got the "Printing" screen with the spinning wheel and nothing else happening. No thanks to HP for basically fucking over their customers
Hi all Two Things, my link has been flagged most likely by HP and the contents of it has been deleted, I have uploaded it to another cloud service temporarily till I find somewhere without restrictions. Also I know I show you in the video how to do this process with the 7740 and I assumed that all models with usb ports would be able to update that way. But it seems like not all models can do this, I made a video previously on how to do it via your pc, which will be linked below. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6Brcgjgf9Uc.html&ab_channel=SimplyBS
Salute & Thanks so very much, SimplyBS! The FUL file on formatted USB drive didn't work but the "Printer Pro 8710&Pro 8715&Pro 8718 downgrade to 1848A version.exe" file from 95x worked for my Printer Pro 8710, downloaded thru WiFi from the PC to printer.
@@oscareduardozapatacardona9167 The link to the 95x file is in the notes at this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6Brcgjgf9Uc.html. Very slow download.
Unfortunately, using this .exe file said it updated my 8710 printer, but I'm still getting the "incompatible cartridge" error, even after restarting the printer. 😮💨
Hello, excellent guide on how to downgrade the printer. Just wanted to know if there has been any changes as I am stuck in the step where the printer downloads the Firmware file from the USB, restarts, and then says "Verifying" with a loading animation circle. The printer doesn't have internet connection and the updates have been turned off. The "Verifying" process seems to be stuck.
Hi, I tried this but it didn't work. My HP is an 8702 and I didn't see that one in the downloads. I used the one for 8710, -15 or -18. Should I have used the other? is there not one for me? I unzipped it and put it on the USB and plugged it into the printer but didn't get the option to download it. It just showed the regular USB options like scanning. My issue is even more frustrating than your example. I have REAL HP cartridges that are brand new but older- possibly expired. But I know the ink is in there! I also followed instructions I found elsewhere to go back to factory settings. It seemed to be working but made no change on my error message. I DID put into practice your tip on not letting it automatically upgrade so I'm thankful for that.
Did you know, that after 4 years HP makes it almost impossible to use your printer|? The software forces your to renew the software every time you want to print. My HP deskjet is a goner, no more HP for me. Who knows if HP will rig software to prevent their ink tank printers from using non-HP ink.
NEED HELP!!! So I had this issue a while back and after some digging I found out that my hp 7740 was manufactured in a different region so therefore it would not except the cheaper cartridges (I think) but I somehow figured out a work around! Not really sure how I did it but since then I haven’t had any issues……. Until now!…… so I’m guessing there has been another update and my original fix has been banned for life and I have received a knife in the back in the form of extremely expensive HP cartridge!!! This definitely should be illegal! Anyway, I found this amazing video! I followed your great words of wisdom and when it was time to insert the USB drive into the printer…… I was not given the option to download at all and the only icons that show are “Print Photo” and “Save To”……. Before my frustration and anger completely take over, do you have any info, guidance, haikus, riddles that could remedy my issue???
Sorry for asking again. Formatted the flash drive. Got the .ful file onto the flash drive (usb) and on my desktop as well. My .ful file is muscatel_vr3_pp - with few more letters and numbers and ending with the .ful file type code. Going to update printer option.. It's stating printer is upto date. I had reset it to factory default settings before starting this entire process. The printer is also connected to WiFi. The non hp inks are in their places inside the printer throughout the process. I have also tried using different USB ports on the laptop. Still no luck. It seems the Printer is not reading the flash drive hence not picking up the .ful file on it. I have inserted this in my laptop and also into the printer but neither work. Any idea or tips would be appreciated.
