fun fact: the song was not supposed to be about a girl but a friend but when they wrote it, girl sounded better so they kept it. the message however is towards a friend
The thing with BTS is that they ALWAYS experimented with their sound, even today. They collect more fans with every comeback so whatever genre and style they decide to try next its always just a matter of time before they hit a new milestone because the fanbase keeps bigger & bigger.
The imagery in this music video is also part of the larger BTS Universe storyline. If you ever want to get into that there's a wonderful video by XCeleste about it, I think it's the best one on the subject on RU-vid. But yes, the imagery is much darker in other versions. Please keep recting to RunBTS! Remember, the label was still small at the time, production DOES get more complex over time! Edit: If you ever wants a "best of" list of episodes just ask us in a video and we can help in the chat ✌️ Edit Edit: Yoongi (Suga) was a delivery driver for a time. He actually suffered an accident on the job that permanently messed up his shoulder. The subject does come up in lyrics sometimes. Also, RM doesnt have a drivers license lol. He rides a bike literally everywhere.
I like that you watched this version of the MV. The 19+ version goes deeper into what's going on with the characters and is meant to kick off a bit of a mystery, so it's a much different experience to watch it. This one allows you to just enjoy the song more. Personally, I would recommend waiting until you're ready to start the BU before watching that version.
@@djlivvy46 That's exactly why I don't think he needs to, honestly. The difference between the two videos is the BU content. The lyrical content of the song is the same, with some extra instrumentals. If he's not interested in the BU visuals, why watch it?
@@djlivvy46 Yes, but the visuals have nothing to do with the actual song. For what he wanted, he could have just watched a lyric video and gotten the same information out of it. The MV is irrelevant if you aren't interested in the BU.
@@psychokitty71 - I don't understand what you mean? The visuals of BTS are a very important part of their art for many Armys. They spend a lot of time and money on those visuals too.
React to their albums in chronological order from the first one to the most recent. You’ll appreciate it much more and see their growth. You’ll also see the different genres they do.
For best way to go about this is to start from the beginning. Start with MV, dance practice, and follow up with a live performance. Their live is much better than MV.
IMO start from the Debut and continue in order to the Present. This way you could appreciate how hard they worked, strived through hardships, put in their time and listen to the sound they had back in 2013 to where they are now. Just because they didn't come from "The Big Three: SM, YG or JYP" doesn't mean they weren't good. In fact, they were VERY good as they proved it on all their Albums. Indeed their "sound" naturally changed as years went by, yet they STILL have it, 10+ Years later as BTS earned the Title: "The Biggest Boy-Band in the Planet," as well as being Superstars as Solo Artists! 💜
I Need You was a shift in BTS that brought in a new Era in their styling, visuals and musical arrangement. It was a time when they put their iconic vocal line forward with their rap line lacing and threading their work like the icing on the cake. For anyone to truly understand, know and appreciate BTS, it is their first three albums with a mix of hip hop and R&B, that were so breathtakingly amazing. From these three albums, you can discover that right from the beginning, BTS were already so well informed in their lyrics, content and polished in their musicality . Their talent, were so immense, from way back then, that some of their Early Main Songs and especially the Bsides from their first three albums should not be missed. IMHO their best early work was from their Dark and Wild Album which was so underrated, if you listen to that album, you will discover that their musicality was on an insane level from way back then and they were only in their teens, with Suga and Jin just past twenty. These boys deserve respect and are truly legends. This is a list of their early songs that you should definitely not miss, Imho these showcase how good they are and will be a good start.... We are Bulletproof Pt 2 Danger No More Dream Boy In Luv Just One Day Spine Breaker Hip Hop Phile/Lover War of Hormones Look Here 24/7 = Heaven 2nd Grade Embarrassed Outro Do you Think It Makes Sense Let Me Know Attack On Bangtan We On If I Ruled The World Coffee 2!3! I hope you listen to their music from the beginning! All of their music is worth listening to and you will be missing out on a vital part of their history if you skip their first albums. Just because the earlier albums were not as commercially successful as their later ones does not mean that the music was not good. It's just that they didn't have as many fans yet. While the music was a bit heavier then it still was really good and their performances were oustanding! Please start from the beginning and do whole album reactions because the b-sides are sometimes even better than the title tracks.
I feel the same with you about suga's smile back then in 2016. Like i was so happy to see him smile and laugh a lot in RUN BTS, i took screenshoots, made a compilation of his smile from that RUN BTS episode, it was when they're in the pool/waterpark lol i still remember it, and use that as my wallpaper😂 i think that's what most army feel about suga back then. But now after listening to his new release from time to time, from agust d mixtape, D-2, to D-Day i know he feel a lot better now. He's been talking about the struggling in the past in his talkshow name suchwita, and seeing him finally can release his hatred, anger and say goodbye to those dark past and feelings in D-Day album and amygdala song make me know that suga is feeling safe right now, at this moment. He talk about his struggle a lot on his songs which is why he made his persona agustd and now D-Day was his last album with that persona, he finally can open that closed door in his final concert and ready to say goodbye to agustd as his identity which fill with anger. He's now ready to be suga, to fully embrace himself and start a new chapter :) my comment probably overwhelming if you new to them, but yeah there's a reason why he's being like that in the past. As you listen to his songs you will know him slowly. He's a lot brighter now you can watch his present self in suchwita :) thank you for reaction!!❤ and sorry for broken english lol
Fun fact: every one can drive in bts except RM 😂 yeah that's true he said he's gonna have his driver license after his military service so i hope the world will be safe after that 😁💜💜💜💜💜
I think you should listen to their earlier songs as well. Even though it didn’t do great on the charts I think they are still great songs. You should check out No more dreams and We are Bulletproof pt 2.
If you go back and plan on doing the main BU tracks, in order do: 1. I Need You 2. Onstage prologue (short film with the song Butterfly as its soundtrack, make sure to add eng subs when you search for it) 3. Run (not to be confused with Run BTS the song or the show) 4. Young Forever 💜
Hello ~~one thing I really appreciate with your reaction video is that you always listen to the music video without posing at first .. this is so respectful for the artist . You can get the true feelings from the music .... Thank you 🎉💜
As you continue your journey, you'll see from their their first and second album, the B-side songs are not all dark and have R&B type songs . Looking forward to when you check them out also.
Yesss obviously this song changed everything and before album did not do well buttttt.....dark and wild🫠🫠 and their old songs are just as good as and I hope you wouldn't just leave their older albums❤ great reaction
And if you're gonna deeply dive into bts journey and coincidently, you've started with I need you, which is the very start of BTS universe, you can find the storyline in order
I would recommend you to watch the colour coded lyrics so you can know who is singing before you see the mv since you're not really familiar with their voices and you can also focus on ghe lyrics more than focus on ghe mv so you won't be distracted+ and yes who said everything in the beginning 💜💜💜
Hi Rex ! I've been following you from your first reaction. Loved them all. Your question " What's the next song that became viral?" ......... To what level ? They were good from the start. Why wouldn't you start from the start ? ... and follow their timeline journey ? Start with "no more dream" 😉, then keep on... non only will you understand how they evolved, but you'll be entertained all the way through !
Still you should know that even though their music was aggressive from the beginning eras, probably when you listen to their lyrics it will be a whole different thing. Their music is way much more deep than it looks. Even we, pandemic fans haha, have a lot of appreciation for those eras...... Love your reactions and welcome!!!
Hi!!! Super fun joining you on your BTS journey!! I can tell you clearly appreciate and enjoy what you’ve seen so far. I’m happy to say, there are things to come that will blow your mind😂😂 These guys are beyond amazing!!🔥🔥Please don’t skip their music before I Need You/album. You’ll miss out on seriously PHENOMINAL music. Hip Hop Phile, Cypher’s 2 & 3, Tomorrow, Jump, N.O, We On, Let Me Know..and an absolute must is RM’s ‘Intro: What Am I To You’. I would actually argue that every song is worthy. I don’t know if order matters, it’s your journey!! Borahae 💜💜💜💜💜💜
This song is part of the BU storyline. Don't worry about that now. There is also a dance version that is excellent. The MV to this blew ARMY away, myself included. I had to stop what I was doing and hunt down the BU story, LOL. That took 2 days of research! ARMY age range from 12-80's and nope not kidding. watch celestx guide to BTS for more accurate stats.
@@vvvvvlogs6469 what K drama? this BU is a bunch of songs around a storyline. search BU or bangtan universe for a better idea. It would take me an hour to explain, LOL.
You MUST react to the uncensored MV. The song plays longer and the video makes much more sense with the lyrics. This video seems like all “happy” but the other longer video has much more drama. Taehyung has major acting chops showing. You’ll appreciate it much more as well.
If you like RM's rapping you will truly enjoy the Cyphers that are in the albums. All of the rappers are good. The Cyphers feature the rap line of the group. But a must listen to is "Born Singer" it is an awesome blend of both the rap and vocal line.
Hello!!! You have to watch BTS full story: HYYH, wings, love yourself. There you have the chronology of the videos starting with I need You. This is how you will understand it. Kisses from Argentina!!💜🇦🇷
Thank you so much for your reaction! I would love for you to react to a live performance of this too. Usually artists are better on a studio track, but in my personal opinion if the BTS studio track is 100/100 their live performance is 613/100!! its amazing! It would be really lovely if you could please consider perhaps reacting to a live performance and the MV's. I know I'm asking for a lot (2 in 1) but trust me we love long reactions and would really appreciate it. But completely up to you what you choose :) Also, BTS's official channel for music releases is 'Hybe' and you will be able to watch the 19+ version of this song. You can watch it in your own time if you would like to see more of the storytelling. Just a heads up, I Need You is the start of the Bangtan Universe (BU) which is a whole epic storyline that spans across MV's, short clips/ trailers, HYYH notes and even a webtoon :)
This started the theories like big time, I remember reading a lot of it related to this song and the entire album. I need U holds a special part in my heart, just like Spring Day💜
The BTS rap line found inspirations in early 2000s American rap and rappers as well as Korean but RM’s American rapper idol I think is Nas (Not to be confused with Little NAS X). For J Hope it is J Cole. My bias is Yoongi but I don’t know who his American inspirations are 😅 I do however know that all of them really look up to EPIK HIGH.
💜💜💜 This video has deep meaning, it’s not about the Girl! bts is know because of their lyricism, hope you’ll watch the explanation video,I love your reaction and bts army always ready to guide you
This is one of the videos that is part of the Bangtan Universe. Pointing it out cause if you watch kdramas too there's a new show coming soon called Youth based on the BU. Might be worth watching :)
RM has said this time after time that his all time favorite rapper is NAS. Thats his biggest influence, and i think that comes through perfectly in his latest album that called 'INDIGO'. Youre definetly going to love that album.
If you want to know more...watch also the explanation of this song or watch the original mv...Actually,in this video each member was playing a role...each member was going through a problem that any teenager could live with....
Their songs of I need you were such bangers though! Admittingly, I listened to them more than I need you! Danger, we are bulletproof pt 2, N.O bangerssss
'm loving your reactions, it's also cool when you react, putting in the same video, your reaction to the MV and then the dance practice of the same song... it would make your videos even more interesting and I think you would really enjoy it... I know I love watching... kisses and success to you...
Glad that you’re finally going into BTS music doing it chronologically is good but I’m sure Army will have lots of suggestions. There’s a favorite quote in BTS army that says “you discover BTS when you need them”. You’ve come when the members are exploring their own artistry and have released solo songs/albums that are all amazing. You have a trove of content from the past 10 years. We’ll enjoy rewatching them with you as we wait for 2025 when they reunite. You should be caught up by then!
Fun Fact: RM to this day, does not have his drivers license. He said he will now wait until he is back from the military. You seem to catch on quick....it's almost like you walked the same streets.....I can guarantee you will love RM's RAP. Wait until you take a listen to his newest album Indigo....🔥
BTS always does different versions of MVs. I listed songs for you to watch/listen in your reactions. So many great ones. Forgot to list: Truth Untold; Louder than Bombs; Danger; Miss Right; and check out their Japanese albums. They have nice songs that are not included in most of their Korean albums like “Wake Up”.
I need u and Run bts episodes from the start ?, it feels like you in 2015 and honestly i love… thats when i became a fan …Just watch whatever you feel like ,though as you see from reactions to documenties you can get idea what you want to watch … You do you there is no wrong way to get into BTS each and everyone journeys different and special in their own way … trust your instincts
You need to watch more BTS suga Suga hide his shoulder pain well for 8 Years till finally got his surgery.you should listen to run if you want to follow BU time line.Dope if you want Dance
Suga funny in run BTS he's not shy.Just not as noisy as the otheres.Jin and suga are parents of the others lol.Jin and suga are closestr.same as v and jimin.
Oh, you need to watch the 18+ version of this MV too. That's the original uncut version that contains NSFW things (murder, blood, drowning, drug) for adding some context.
I appreciate the comments some ARMY are making on your video choice, but in my humble opinion, it's your journey. I am really enjoying your approach and observations. It's unique and refreshing. 💜 Of note, RM doesn't yet have his driver's license 😅 He recently said he would do so after his service. Anyhoo . . . Thanks for sharing your approach with us.
watch the other MV.. the complete one.. that video was edited and removed the heavy scenes .. i also recommend to watch all their solo albums.. you'll be more captivated by them.. you'll love them more..
One thing bts has kept doing is changing their sound, and with each change they lose some fans and gain more fans. I applaud their dedication to keep growing as artists. The original MV was better at storytelling, you should check that one out. Jin was driving here. JK has a motorcycle tho😆 Album listens are great, their music really are meant to be heard like that.
If you want to watch BTS goofy moments start by watching “BTS Jungkook Cute and Funny Moments”. Since it will take awhile to have new content while in military, you can catch up with all their MVs, Award shows, concerts, choreography wherein they film their practices, their games, sooooo MANY but it is all worth watching them. I enjoy these in repeat!
We should warn you that this is the beginning of the BU (Bangtan Universe). It's not exactly happy. They have an ongoing story that runs through several songs and MVs. Each of the members play a character that is part of a friend group that met in high school. They are all dealing with personal problems and in the beginning their friendship is a sanctuary from those problems but it can't keep it out forever and the friendships splinter. The storyline can get complicated so you may just want to watch it for the music and not worry too much about the BU if you don't want to get too involved with that so early in learning BTS.
