thats two things you dont see anymore on the modern freight trains and thats the old cattle vans and break vans I do miss seeing those I remember seeing them in the 70s when I was living with grandparents in Warrington as the avenue we lived in runs along the WCML north and these trains passed our house every day and night at around 10-15 min intervals and use to get held up at the signals what a lovely sight they were and they were the good old days these wagons were still being used in the early 80s, its a pity these wagons are no longer in use the clanging of the wagon as the locos started off lovely sounds

Great video, one of the better ones. So nice the GCR is not blighted by the orange vest brigade now.

Excellent. As you say non-stop action. I was the fireman on 7802 and you have caught our arrival and lay-over in the Down carriage sidings well - not a lot of action there though! :-)

Thanks Rick. Yes a great place and great galas they have !! Glad you enjoyed the slow motion replay, Bradley Manor was going that fast you couldn't see much at normal play.

Nice views of the shunting.I like the Class 2/Jinty back to back. They've still got that class 319 getting in the way at Quorn then.

Thanks Scott, I've never seen 7802 any where but the SVR, so good to see, but also seemed strange.

steam locos the only locos that could do passenger journeys without having to change ends or have another engine at the back and the same applied to the freight

How the dickens did those awful modern multiple units Northern get there?They were totally out of place ,I have to admit that I totally dislike diesels, but at least the early Metro Cammels at Loughborough fitted in.Excellent film though,I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks Michael, glad you enjoyed it. Yes , they do look very out of place! They are being converted to bi /tri mode units by Brush at Loughborough and are being tested on the GCR. Would of thought they could have moved the one from right by the station at Quorn for the gala weekend though?

Phil Clarke Yes,I certainly wondered why they came to be there,incidentally, what is the position regarding the bridge over the Midland line?Is the northern section connected? The loco shed is,I am given to understand is to be relocated to the Nottingham end?
@philclarke3203
@philclarke3203 5 лет назад
The bridge deck is over the Midland line,but no track on it yet. They are currently working on restoring the bridge over the canal, still alot of work to be done before the 2 lines are connected and yes the loco shed will have to be moved, not sure where too though
@michaelgoodliffe4887
@michaelgoodliffe4887 5 лет назад
Phil Clarke Thank you for that information, though I did hear that the bridge was only single track, and if that is the case it will form a bottle neck ,as the long term aim is double track main line from Leicester to the Ruddington,18 miles,and that will be something!
