Her grandson is so lucky to have her. She’s wonderful. Hopefully he jumps in and helps her cook when the camera stops rolling so he can learn and pass on to future generations to keep these family recipes and traditions alive.
It's because she cooks all the time and probably learned everything from her mother who learned everything from her mother. I've never measured spices for anything I cook cuz for 20 years my mom taught me to smell each one and then smell and taste the sauce - and it really works that way.
@@kathionthenet548I was never taught how to cook anything by any family...I just learned to cook on my own. I do prefer to measure, but if I've already done the recipe lots of times before, I can do it without measurements, easily.
As I watch her l cry there is so much love in what Nona does I just want to hold her and thank her for carrying on and sharing ĥer art and for just for a second I see my mother and my aunt little woman with love of feeding her family. Four feet 5 inches tall now I have to go make bread .😢

I have never made homemade bread in my life because of the measurements and thinking you need a mixer and all! Wow...this is amazing! Nonna Pia is amazing!!❤
You should check out basic bread recipes. Do it once, and you'll be addicted. Homemade bread is very forgiving. Hard to mess up. You can all different kinds of ingredients to enhance the flavor. Try it, you'll love it
This looks identical to my mammas panne she baked when we came to the US. Before we left, we lived in Napoli for some years but Sicilia is home..30 min or so outside of Catania..most our life we never baked bread then bc each area had a baker or two that came in morning after the milkman. The panne was just baked, wrapped in brown paper. Mamma Mia questo panne like heaven. Always came the man con verdure e’ frutta, fresh ricotta also mozzarella di buffalo. No, Nonna’s not making bread IN the sink, she’s making bread in a BOWL which happens to be in the sink. It’s easier for her to reach into the bowl when it’s in the sink rather than on the counter. Makes perfect sense, dear Nonna Pia! You do you! We love you! ❤

I love her so much and Iove her relationship with her grandson, they get on so well. Though I would love somehow to get her Irish dairygold or kerrygold, I didn’t realise they don’t do those butters in the states until recently which really surprised me, apparently stanly tucci bring back so much when he’s over here he has a freezer full of it but out of anyone Nona pia deserves it the most, that bread is so beautiful just like her ❤

Attention Pia’s grandson …. When Nonna is making her bread 🥖 do what we did when my mother would make her Portuguese Sweet bread( mom also didn’t measure anything) what we did was, she would pour the ingredients and we would take them a measure by cups 😀and that’s how we have the recipe 😃
My Nona gave us fresh, hot bread out of the oven with Olive Oil & Ground Salt & Pepper for breakfast!! So delicious! And no matter how hard I try, I can not make bread as good as hers!!

Measuring ingredients by eye - I'm blown away. I wouldn't attempt to make bread without measuring in grams / using scales. It's proof that Nonna Pia has made so much bread over the years, she doesn't need to weigh anything. All I will say, is, please take some measurements for future reference, otherwise you won't be able to recreate the wonderful dishes / meals x

I would love to make this. BUT can you give us an idea how much flour, yeast and water to use? I can understand about not measuring..but for us beginners can we at least have a estimate?
