Fun Fact: in the comics, William didn't come out of the closet until much much later in the series, which is something I'm glad they changed for this show, because frankly his character in the comics was really dull until the reveal.

In case you didn't know, there are 2 specific reasons mark lost to that one reaniman 1. Mark is still recovering from battle beast 2. These things are just very strong. Almost to a ridiculous degree compared to how much weaker I've heard they were in the comics

I’ll tell you what you nailed it about the eve thing. I would be so stressed at all times of the day if either of my kids got powers and put themselves in dangerous situations lol and it wouldn’t matter if I knew they could help other because all I care about is them so I see where the dad is coming from but oh my god he needs to take his foot off the gas and listen to her a little

The reason why the majority does not like amber comes after this episode. Obviously i can't say what happen but damn the implications really pissed me off as well

The doctors say "Thank god whatever tore him up was sharp", but Battle Beast's weapon isn't sharp. I think this is pretty telling of the strength difference between the two. Even if you don't already know how strong Battle Beast is, this gives you a better estimate,

Parents often just can't see the entire picture of their kids. I'd say Eve's dad still, and probably always will, see her as his little girl. She is only 18 and he probably just isn't ready for her to be so strong and independent as her own person yet. Add that to her having superpowers and how dangerous we see the occupation of being a superhero is here it is entirely understandable why he says what he says.

The reason why we hate Amber is because, by her own admission later… (and I’m saying this here because you’ve already watched episode 8 by now, and may have covered this already) …she knew Mark was Invincible when he fought Doug Chestin in the courtyard, saving William and probably her as well. She knew he was Invincible, and was consistently late because he was out saving lives and sometimes nearly dying in the process, and yet she still treats him like crap for not spending time with her, as if her happiness is worth more than all those lives he’s saving. She gaslights him to believe he’s in the wrong, then William and Eve blame him as well. Knowing all of this, I think Mark did nothing wrong.

Alicia I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, I have family who have been trhough that as well and......well I'm really glad that you have such a positive outlook and that your doing ok! Alright so for this episode, the entire Reanimen plot with D.A. Sinclare is something that's SUPER spread out in the comics, like Rick is gone for like a month or something before Invincible and William manage to find him and save him. I think condensing it into a single episode though is a much better idea. You get all the major story beats here that's spread out through those issues. Oh yeah! Another thing I should mention, William in the comics? Not gay at first, he and Atom Eve actually date for a while but the writer has said that he always planned on William being gay. And at one point in the comics while Mark is out, he totally swipes Mark's suit and tries it on but the pants don't fit him so Mark comes home to see his best friend wearing his costume sans pants and in boxers XD. Another thing that they change is that there's actually someone else on the Guardians of the Globe team, someone who is very important actually, who is beaten up instead of Monster Girl. And finally we just got confirmation that next month, the 20th anniversary of Invincible's Comic book coming out, we will get news about season 2 of the show! Along with an update on the video game they're developing, re-releases of the first two trade paperbacks which cover about half the events of this season, a new Compendium hardcover, which collects a 1/3rd of the entire Invincible run, and a Invincible Universe compendium which collects side stories from the Invincible Universe including the origins of Atom Eve and Rex-Plode, and other stories!

17:02 - 17:35 Couldn't agree more. I just hit 30, and yet I'm still feel like I'm in my mid 20s, feeling uncertain about the idea of being a good father, even though I know my 20s have come and gone. I wouldn't mind having kids someday, but I'm terrified about not knowing enough to pass on to and be brave for any children I may have should that day come. It’s funny because Eve is the original love interest all throughout the Comic, but I have no idea why Amber had this much focus all at once.

Eve’s father can’t protect her even against the regular world (no parent can.) So I imagine supernatural and super powered threats must be crushing.

There is one thing i never got about this...Why did he hide the bag in his own home? He could've flown to another planet, another Galaxy and buried it in it's core, tossed the damn thing into the Sun or Something, but hiding it essentially in plain sight where there are 2 other people Constantly in, is pretty fkn dumb.

Not too many people hated amber until what she does at a particular scene. Up till that point, most people could understand where she is coming from, but then she did something that completely changes the perspective of the actions she has done for the past episode or two.

with regards to the parent discussion you had defending Eve's dad I agree on a lot of your points but I also disagree on others as well. I won't go into any details but I've cut all ties with my father because I don't want him in my life. Does this mean he didn't love me? No, while he never actually said "I love you" to me, he showed his affection in his own way (he just never made it clear). My father raised me to be the best Man I could possibly be but his definition of a man was very toxic and involved being emotionless. His way of helping was only ever making things worse and if I disagreed with him or stood my ground then that would also make things worse. While I do love your take on showing empathy to people and understanding why they act the way they do, there has to be a limit. I want to be a dad in the future, and while I know I won't be perfect, at the very least I will make sure that my kids know that I love them so that they never have to feel like they aren't "Good enough"

I didn't think about it until just now, but I feel like Amber's behavior in part comes from what Nolan said at the end of episode 1, how Kids his age get reckless because they think they're invincible, cuz yeah she went right into helping because she thought she could take it and WAS not actually attacked by the Reaniman, it's only after seeing the absolute brutality Mark went through at the hands of his dad does Amber kind of get shocked to reality because for all her altruism and helpful nature, she can't do everything and if even superhero Mark can't handle certain things, what's she by comparison, right? I think that she got SO shocked into calming down in that regard that it put everything into perspective for her, maybe Of course it's possible that I'm talking out of my ass, but yeah

I have many thoughts about Amber, most of them negative, but this is not really the time to talk about most of them, but keep in mind that when she was introduced she blackmailed a guy into giving Mark her number, instead of asking Willem to deliver it or giving it to Mark herself. Did the bully deserve some comeuppance? Sure. But what Amber did was an actual crime that she could technically have gone to prison for and the bully got his comeuppance from his second confrontation with Mark anyway, when his multiple punches only ended up hurting his own first (and ego). Anyway... that's quite impressive non-tailor and costume making equipment that tailor has in his workshop. I wonder if we'll ever get more backstory on him to explain why he has such high-class analysis machines and stuff. While some stuff might make sense, why does he have a super-computer that can analyse bloodstains? Also I'm still suspicious of him due to being voiced by Mark Hamil, who (apart from being Luke Skywalker) is more well known for his villain voice roles. Willem is a real one. Not many people would be willing to crawl through the sewers for someone else in just regular times and Willem does it when there are some very clear signs of actual danger. You know, punching a hole in a wall would be really impressive and intimidating, if it wasn't a US house. In the US normal people can actually do that. If you tried that in a European building you'd just end up hurting your hand any maybe painting the otherwise intact wall red. :P

Honestly I disagree that Amber is in the right for the attack at the school. Even ignoring later revelations in the show about her knowing his identity I still think she was being unfair to him. Previously to this their issues are all about mark being extremely late or not showing up for an event, this is a whole different level from that because they are in serious physical danger. From her perspective he ran away while she tried to help people. If I was out with my girlfriend and a mass shooting like situation started happening and my girlfriend ran for her life and we got separated, my first reaction upon meeting back up with her would not be to call her a piece of shit. I might be slightly upset that I was in danger alone, but it would be far outweighed by the fact that my significant other is alive and safe and I would never fault her for saving her own life. I get why Amber would be upset as someone whose first instinct is to run towards danger and help others, but that doesn't make self preservation a bad thing. Being unable or unwilling to step out of her own perspective and understand Mark might have been extremely scared and just ran isn't a good thing in my opinion. If his fight or flight was telling him to get out of there asap it isn't his fault for listening to it and keeping himself safe. Not only that but he claimed he went to get the cops or campus security, people who are more able to deal with this situation than a couple of teenagers, which isn't something a lot of people would have the presence of mind to do. He wasn't just being a bystander and saving himself, he was getting the proper authorities who could probably save more lives than he could. I Think both sides have fair points, which is why I wouldn't necessarily fault Amber if she hadn't known the truth of the situation, but I feel like that is enough to say she isn't objectively correct in her reaction to the situation.

If I recall, Rick eventually recovers in the comics after the government replaces everything he lost with cybernetics.

I agree on Eve's dad. Yes, he's a shithead, but that's not ALL he is; everyone has multiple sides - no matter how much we'd like to demonize them. Choosing to empathize with and understand someone *doesn't mean* you forgive them or pardon their actions. Not that he's gone so far as to be unforgivable in the first place.

so everyone talking about amber which is fair but lets talk about that ending. In the funeral scene from episode 3 it was brought up that those weren't real graves or the real funeral. that a private burial and funeral had been done before hand in another place because "relic hunters" would screw up their graves if they knew where the hero's were burried. that was a fucked up thought. but as we see here. it was right. these two jackasses dug up a hero's grave to drink fucking schnapps from his skull because they read a thing on reddit that claims it would give them his powers.

If Amber didn’t know, Mark was a superhero why was she so mad that Mark ran away from some giant robot? Honestly, why didn’t she run away if she thought Mark didn’t have superpowers? Pretty good take on the dad. He does clearly care for his daughter, but he has no tact or wisdom in the way he conveys his message, and comes across a rude and inconsiderate. The vast majority of women cannot protect themselves from physical danger, and need a male protector. A father being concerned and protective of the daughter he loves makes sense, though Eve having superpowers does put a unique twist on the situation vs the real world. Still, wanting to protect your child does not mean that cheating/adultery should be brushed off as minor mistake. It is a serious transgression with lasting consequences, and should require some serious steps of reconciliation, full admission of guilt without excuse, and concrete changes made to prevent the same from happening again, before considering moving forward, if at all. Eve behaving so rebellious towards her parents is a testament of his failure to teaching his daughter respect, but also his failure to act like a respectable father. He says that a family is what's best for her, which is true, though he makes no attempt to explain why and ends up sounding out of touch. Many women today in their 30's & 40's, particularly in the west, realize too late how lonely it is without a husband and children, because they were taught by parents or their peers to pursue a career over marriage. At that age it becomes very difficult to obtain a peaceful marriage with a decent husband and children, in contrast to a good job which can be obtained at almost any stage in life, if necessary. Basically, he makes no effort to listen and understand his daughter, so Eve makes no effort to understand her father, and communication breaks down :(

Just to let you know even if you're not gonna read this comment out of fear of spoilers. Eve's power is goated, she's quite possibly one of if not the most powerful character we have, well she's definitely not the most powerful overall but the idea of her ability itself is stupid. She can essentially turn anything into anything, create anything, manipulate almost everything, her powers have a built in self preservation protocol and the simple fact that these come at no cost whatsoever.
