Wow! Amazing vessel that was obviously cared for by fastidious owners! Solid job going through the endless details Jeff! Whoever buys is going to get one hell of a boat
AC (Butch!) thank you for your very nice comment. She is really a ready-to-go Nordhavn 60 and you are correct, someone is going to own an amazing trawler.
Dennis: Time is illusive. Plans include preparing for the future and sometimes things in life change which cause you to pause and re-think. The "10-year plan" will be a huge plus for the next owners.
@@JeffMerrillYachts What is wrong with all these people complaining about this vessel?? This Nordhavn is totally fantastic it's practically NEW!!! I think she is beautiful and someone is going to buy her very soon. She's turnkey. Fuel up and go Awesome. Great video Jeff and thanks.
Max! Thank you very much, very kind of you. The boats speak for themselves, I'm just the guy in the loud shirt! Yes, see you at TrawlerFest! The Nordhavn 60 Ginard is exceptional.
I'm not the biggest fan of Nordhaven's (a little too much wood for my taste) but it seems the owners have put a lot of money into the boat to get it into amazing shape. Steve also seems like a great guy to have gone through the boat, based on your vids with him.
Jason: Thank you for your note. Yes, a lot of time, effort and money to make Ginard as close as you can get to trouble free. Steve D'Antonio is the best in the world for consulting on a project like this. Win/Win!
My place is over the water in Tiburon, Ca. I would occasionally see a Nordhaven go from Sausalito to Berkeley, Richmond on the SF Bay. Beautiful yacht.
@@JeffMerrillYachts I'm across from Angel Island know as racoon straits. I knew about Nordhavns maybe 15 years ago. I fell in love with yachts having worked on Blue and Gold fleet as a deckhand back in college. I've only see the same one. I believe it's dock at the San Francisco yacht club in Tiburon. That being said, I've become a huge Bering fan. Especially the newer design. Waiting to see their 75.
Frazel: Wasn't deemed necessary, but having two of everything else was a strong thought. So far none of the three owners of this boat have felt it was necessary, but a second generator could be added.
31: Agree, they are a smart safety feature to keep you in bed and, when the bunks aren't used they are great shelves for gear and the lee cloth would help contain the contents. Best part, they can always be added.
As always a fantastic tour by Jeff Merrill....it's more of an exploration than a sales tour...really fab for us Trawler Yacht nuts. And as always there are things I like and things I don't like ...Nordhavn, Fleming, Kadey Krogen....they are all so similar and yet different in subtle ways. Nordhavn always seem to be very good below decks...the engineering spaces always seem to be very clean and logical. I like this 'old style' high lustre gloss woodwork of the interior....it's old fashioned but very luxurious. The pilot house looks like the console of the space shuttle!! There is a lot of boat here. Amazing tour Jeff! I've been researching trawler yachts for 23 years and I never get bored of seeing them.
DrCrabfingers: Thank you very much for your nice letter. Really, there is no selling involved - it is explaining, sharing and assisting with the research phase. You will sell yourself when you find the right boat and Ginard is one of those very special trawlers. Really appreciate you watching and commenting!
Great ship..even i don't like the 3 layout on the second dorm..i would choose one bed for 2 adults with a TV in there..but overall..great and beautiful ship!
Dan: The forward cabin arrangement was a special request for the original owners children. When you order new you can arrange the layout for your purposes. It's actually efficient and comfortable, the captain's cabin has a double bunk that will sleep two. She is a beauty, thank you for watching.
I have never seen a boat more fitting for myself and my family, but yet came at the most inconvenient time of my life. Awesome showing Jeff. What a stellar vessel.
Hi Jeff, beautiful boat in ship shape and excellent professional presentation as always. You really know trawlers in general and Nordhavens in particular. Liked your shots of the Golden Gate Bridge, a bridge I have walked over about six times with my hiking club btw.
Brows Man: Thank you for your comment. I'm fortunate to have spent a lot of time on the water in and around trawlers and it is always fun to share an exciting boat like the Nordhavn 60 Ginard. The day was ideal for filming, I'm sure that is fresh paint on the Golden Gate bridge! I've driven over many times, but never walked, will have to try that!
The only Nordhavn ( so far) that only has 1 gen set but has the most amount of batteries I have seen in the laz. Is the yacht able to "live" on batteries alone for long periods? Thanks for the video.
Stephen: Very few Nordhavns have two generators, the larger boats do, but it seems that 70' is about the cross over size. Yes, the battery set up does allow for a long duration of charge, use between replenishment.
@@JeffMerrillYachts Jeff, most of the Nordhavns that I have seen on RU-vid for sale have had a 20kw in the engine room and a 7kw in the laz. Guess its an option rather than standard. Learn something new everyday. Thanks.
I really like how the captain's cabin has been solved. Decent and right location. I hate it when it is assumed that the captain is a Hobbit, who has to be squeezed into lazarette somehow. I don't like the access to that stateroom through the master bedroom (presume it was owner's wish), but otherwise beautiful boat.
Silver: Nordhavn did a great job with this design and the pilothouse layout including a day head and Captain's cabin is one of the highlights. The lower level flow from stern to bow is really convenient. At night time, you close off the aft owner door and then the guests get to their sleeping accommodations from the pilothouse stairs. So, very open during the day, block off privacy of rooms for night.
First time I've seen one of your videos. Love it! all the little extra info you put in here and there, the map so it's possible to see where you are when describing things etc.! So much better than all the other "boat tour" channels!
Adventure: Ginard is an incredible Nordhavn 60, thank you. Well, if you are going to be creating meals in the galley (why not?) you can stow a wide variety of seasonings! //:0) thanks for watching!
J: Thank you, yes, I have already had some great interest. A clean, well looked after boat is always desirable, when you add in the facts of how many improvements, replacements and upgrades were done on Ginard it's pretty easy to say she is better than new!
Linda: I would prefer to give you some real world numbers, but don't have any immediately available. At 8.25 knots I would estimate it would be no more than 8 gallons an hour on a single main like Ginard.
Joseph: All of the 55's and 60's have the owner bed atwhartships, but other Nordhavn models are fore/aft. One thing I've learned, is once you are asleep it doesn't seem to matter //:0)
When you are in long range cruise mode what is you speed and what is your fuel burn per hour? When it gives a range does that take into consideration generator operations or is that just for main engine? Love your videos
Linda: In our specifications on JMYS.com we say cruise is 8.25 knots with a range of 3,000 miles. I don't have the actual fuel consumption at that speed, it's an estimate based on real world experience. Normally range is calculated for main engine run time without factoring in generator (.5 gal/hour estimate). If you slow to 8 knots or less you would increase your range. Each owner needs to do their own measurements once the vessel is ready/configured/loaded for a long trip - we suggest creating a speed/burn/range sheet to show real performance at 100 RPM increments. Thank you for watching our videos. Happy to go into more detail via direct email Jeff@JMYS.com
Jeff, if you were looking at a Bering 65 vs a Nordhavn (similar size/year/condition) what would you choose and why? It seems to me price wise they would be similar or the Bering would be less, why is that? Twins/Steel seems like it would fetch more than single/glass? Thanks, really enjoy your videos and hope to be a client some day!
Fred: Bering and Nordhavn are building for a similar client who wishes to go far. I'm very familiar with both brands, many similarities and differences at the same time. I don't think you can go wrong with either, just just have to determine which advantages you prefer. Too long of a question/answer to properly respond to in the comments section. Thank you for your note. If this is something you want to discuss in more detail please send me a direct email Jeff@JMYS.com. Thank you for you note!
HH: Yes, she is still available. Price is in the video description and on JMYS.com (along with photos, specifications, layout, 360's, etc.). Please call 949.355.4950 or email Jeff@JMYS.com for a direct conversation, thank you!
Grey: There is flexibility in the original build. Tall person, wanted long settee in saloon. Traveling with kids, wanted forward stateroom with bunks. There are a lot of great ideas with this layout, everyone who orders can make some changes. Thanks for watching.
I'm not disparaging The Vessel by any means. Everybody has their own wants needs and enjoyment in a boat. Although in good condition it just does not suit my style. Beautiful vessel though
Chong: We are scheduled to close by November 3rd. Please feel free to get in touch with me directly for details - Jeff@JMYS.com or cell is +1 949.355.4950. Thank you for your comment.
Daniel: The price is right there in the description. We don't put it in the actual video since it is possible it could change and then the video would be wrong. Full details, photos, specifications, etc. on JMYS.com or feel free to contact me directly - 949.355.4950 / Jeff@JMYS.com thank you!
Josh: You have a good vision. Ginard is single with wing and yes, many 60's were also offered with twins. In fact, I have a video of Paradise Found, a twin 60 on this channel, maybe you have already watched that one?
Dustin: Thank you, yes you are spot on. Did you see the video interview with Steve D'Antonio that I did going into the detailed improvements? Appreciate your comment!
Julian: Why do you think you need two captains on a 60 foot boat? That is not a requirement I have ever heard of, can you please clarify? Thank you for watching
@@JulianJohnston919 If you think you need two people for your own watch keeping that is a fine personal preference, but also corrects your statement - you do not need two captains in a 60' Nordhavn. Thank you for clarifying
@@sparkyguitar0058 Not sure what type of cruising Julian is doing, but you are correct, you can plan your trip for nights anchored or moored and then continue on (that is if you are coastal and plan properly, obviously not if you are running offshore)
Villame: You lost me on what you are trying to communicate. Agree, safety first. Ginard is a beautiful Nordhavn 60, thank you. In my experience, many Tsunami's are very minor wave heights, but generate incredibly powerful surge. Ginard is a very robust boat, should last through almost any natural event and come through fine. One reason people buy Nordhavns is because they are so well built, with redundant systems and are incredibly reliable. An advantage of a trawler built for ocean crossing. We filmed on a sunny San Francisco day. Ginard is more than capable of operating in all conditions including stormy weather.
Linda: Until you run a real world performance test it's a bit of a guessing game, but you can't be guessing when you set out on a long trip so with the boat configured and provisioned you have to do the rpm calculations. On most long trips you go very slow (in this case say, 6 knots) with the goal to reach the half way point with fuel in abundance so you can pick up speed (and will be running lighter) to arrive at your destination with a minimum of 10% in reserve.
Tony: The Nordhavn designs for long range cruising anticipate a full load of fuel. The tanks on Ginard were not full, so the bow is down. With the tanks full the stern will lower and the waterline will be more level.
Nuts: "Normal" and "standard" are difficult words to describe a layout that has multiple choices. The original buyer gets to make the call and now three owners in, they have all really appreciated the forward cabin layout.
Moris: Your timing is perfect, we closed yesterday. Ginard is SOLD! In the process of updating RU-vid and the various websites. New owners are super great people, sellers turned over a fantastic Nordhavn 60. If you are interested in a different 60 or another trawler please feel free to get in touch directly. Thank you for watching.
Stan: Most Nordhavns in this size range and smaller only have one engine. There is also often an auxiliary/back up/get home engine - Ginard has one - for redundancy. These trawlers are designed for long range travel - ocean crossing - and benefit from the economical fuel consumption of a properly designed single engine propulsion package./
1508 - Fire, flooding, grounding, lightning as well as all variety of personal injury. You need to be careful and look after yourself and the boat. The preference for cooking is personal. If you find a boat that has propane or electric and you prefer to cook with the other you can change it out. Good boat builders design safe installations.
@@JeffMerrillYachts well….yes, lightning could cause fire or other damage, grounding…I was speaking of offshore sailing. Flooding…yes, but we have pumps, power & manual…and things to stuff in holes. But fire…that’s a bitch. Don’t get it under control very quickly and you’ll be on the “outside looking in” Safe boating, in all aspects, is important. But…fire? I stand by my comment.
@@sparkyguitar0058I’m a fire suppression tech marine and land, I’ve worked on yachts and ships the foolish thing on boats, yachts, RVs and buildings of all types are cheaping out on low quality extinguishers (store bought junk) and on suppression systems on high value belongings. It’s more of a worry than gas versus electric. I spent decades in the industry and have seen the disasters of not using quality equipment or just getting by with enough to please the Coast Guard and insurance.
Fowler: She did not have full loading for long travel when we filmed. Floating on her lines just fine - what other boat model sits right on the water for you? Thank you for watching.
Believe it or not, you'd be surprised at how many people don't know. This walk-thru is for potential buyers but also to educate people about trawler living and all the conveniences of a regular home and more.
Despite the propaganda, China is not "communist". They operate under a capitalistic authoritarian political/economic scheme. Also, they have been building ships and boats for *thousands* of years.
Richard: Noted. I'm in all of my videos, so maybe this is not the right channel for you? Here is an open offer to have a cup of coffee with you in person some day, my treat. If you can't stand me, maybe you could at least sit down with me?
Sam: Health issues can come out of nowhere and completely disrupt your life. The goal, after purchase, was to have Ginard prepared for a ten year cruise with all systems checked and ready. This is a very unfortunate personal situation that has prompted this sale, it certainly was not planned.
@@JeffMerrillYachts Jeff, I am sorry to hear about that. It should have occurred to me but it didn't. Thanks for letting me know and for always giving a great boat walk though.
