Brother may I respectfully disagree? Psalm 14 (KJV) "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. " For many years, I was that fool. As in, a total fool. And I was truly convinced that even so much as the notion of God was at best a manmade construct invented by "the church" primarily to control other people. Seriously brother, I had no clue. But....Almighty God in His unfathomable love and grace and mercy got a hold of me. My eyes and ears and heart were opened and by His goodness and love I came to trust and believe in Jesus the Christ, saved unto everlasting life by His grace through faith in Him. Hallelujah! That's why now I believe that especially towards nonbelievers, evangelizing often starts at establishing Genesis 1-3 and the very existence of God first. From experience what the world would call a narcissist...is actually an atheist...buut they're not just regular Atheists they're atheist that have willfully harden their own heart ,and purposely seared their own conscience...even AFTER the truth has been revealed to them. Perfect example would be Pharaoh/ Pharisees. They saw God and his miracles first hand and still chose not to believe 😔 their story is found in Romans 1:18-32 . Long story short, you're absolutely spot onI No, indeed I did not have any atheistic thoughts in my youngest years. Neither did I have any 'conscious' thoughts of God, BUT....from as far back as I can remember, as a little kid I always wondered about things. Like, really wondered. Had questions, so many questions. Wasn't much use at school because I was always distracted by what I saw outside, you know, anything....the sky, clouds, lakes, rivers, trees, grass, birds, cats, fish, anything. And I did not understand how all these things came about. Or where they came from. One very early memory just now came to mind... must have been like 4 or 5 yrs old...I looked at some little insects running around in the grass, and they looked so tiny in their surroundings, and they looked totally miniature compared to me. And the weirdest thing, I thought, "what if in the same way we are like those tiny little creatures compared to someone else who is unimaginably huge, and watches us like I was watching the insects, and in comparison to whom we'd be completely dwarfed?" Big smile coming on as I am writing this, because it's kinda like Romans 1 is waving a big fat 'hello' here lol. Anyway, there's lots more, but thank you brother! @@USMC199 The restoration of the land was conditioned upon God’s people humbling themselves, praying, seeking His face and turning from their wicked ways. Again, this isn’t pertaining to the individual’s salvation from the penalty of sin. The people of Nineveh were spared from destruction as a collective because they turned from their evil ways (Jonah 3). This doesn’t contradict the sole condition for salvation from sin’s penalty.

Not exactly sure about your question...but we confess our sins because we are saved, we don't confess our sins for salvation, though. As a saved person we deal with our sins with confession (1Joh 1:5-10). That's because we are still in this flesh also, which is a fight against the Spirit (Gal 5:17-25). You can measure your actions according to the Gal 5:17-25 verses and act accordingly if you need to confess any sin. The reason you are eternally saved is because your human spirit was regenerated (Eph 2:1, Tit 3:5). A saved person can even forget he/she was saved 2Pet 1:9. These days this topic is controversial for some reason, so I suggest studying this topic.

@@PsalmChapter117 I think its controversial because to repent for your salvation might make you guilty of being one of the Lord, Lord people (sorry I forget the verse) that Jesus said He never knew them, IF repentance is a work. In the Book of Jonah, it is for God considered the Ninevites repentance a work. And Salvation is by Grace through Faith alone, not by works. So if repentance is a work, there ya go. Yeah...bit controversial.

@@ShogunOrta For salvation you got to have faith in Jesus and the gospel, specifically Rom 3:24-26. For salvation what you repent for is from unbelief to belief. The confession of sins comes after you are saved, it's part of our walk in union with God. Repentance is a change of mind: Exod 32:14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. I'm just trying to guess your doubt, I don't know, maybe this is useful.

Hmm I look up in the book of Jonah, and came up with the verses Jonah 3:9-10, 4:2. In those verses I read repentance as a change of mind as well. So, when we believe the gospel(Rom 3:24-26) we repent from unbelief to belief, a change of mind.
