Rimuru doesn't even want to scare anyone unless you are some piece of shit noble who thinks he can take advantage of rimuru because he is being considerate of humans
Love the DUAL meaning to the episode's title. My Older Brother's Feelings isn't just about Rudeus's relationship to Norn... the parallel to his past relationship to **his** older brother from his old life, makes for a title of such a beautiful **thematic** layering. Aaaaaaand next episode is Turning Point 3?? I'm on pins and needles, waiting to find out what it's gonna be THIS time!! 😳😳😳
Agreed! Made me tear up seeing her perspective. Also Rudy being in his brothers shoes and feeling helpless hoping that maybe he will send a message to him. Its sad, sometimes it feels like Rudy had forgotten his past family and no longer cared for them. This episode was heartbreaking, showing he still cares
It's crazy how much content they cut from Norn's history and perspective, but the episode managed to get the point across. I legit teared up several times. When Norn started crying, I had tears running down my cheeks. This episode knew the assignment and aced it.
I think the message that Norn realised that Rudeus was Anxious is one of the most important parts of the scene, seeing him afraid, made her stop being afraid
So happy with the adaptation. Was even better than what I would've expected. The framing and directing of it was so amazing and they made sure to focus all in on it to make sure it was covered well.
Do you know which novel this is adapting? I want to start buying the audiobooks but not sure where to start, I read the description of vol 11 and it sounds to be around the time of this season.
@@TheAnimeKoala Great thanks, just bought vol 11, the manga covered the first few episodes and left off with the arrival of both sisters, and that’s exactly where this audiobook starts off. Can’t wait to catch up.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- Nice! Hope you enjoy it. So much great content coming up. Also is the audiobook quality good? That seems like it would be a fun way to reexperience it.
This story is very close to a masterpiece, it’s sooooo good, and every time I see Rudys amazing growth I can’t help but think of all the imbeciles that call him a piece of crap. This is the only channel I can watch for Mushoku Tensei content, because everywhere else I go there’s those people & I just can’t listen to them anymore.
true the people that judge mushoku tensei only based on rudy and ignore the rest, are just people with no personality and 0 critycal judgement. For people like that, movies or seriers are getting more and more plane, repetitive and lame
@@mattersondoomI have to agree with this very much, so much more characters than just Rudeus, they are explored very well. Sure if the type of person Rudeus is or what he did early on bothers you, don’t watch. But I remember someone was talking about how MT slowly develops the characters and how they like how it does that. Then someone was like, “Guess I am the only one wanting him to stop being a pervert who gropes every woman he sees.” Now that comment is incorrect, though Rudeus will never stop being a pervert but he has learned boundaries and anything regarding that but he will still be pervy, right now in a healthy way, with his wife. Anyways that person immediately seemed to be talking about Rudeus though but didn’t specify, when the original person actually mentioned characters like Nanahoshi, Norn, Paul, Eris, Ruijerd. Why bother complaining about Rudeus when his will obviously be the slowest development of them all. It’s technically his autobiography afterall.
Love how you not only review the episode but also tell us skipped content in great detail, and without having to wait days for the video. Keep it up, love your channel!
I absolutely love when they add additional scenes from Rudeus' previous life, it gave me shivers expecting to hear Norn but instead it was Rudeus' voice after he was about to enter Norns room! It was amazing, not to mention the last episode of S1 when they added additional scenes! It was a great representation of his troubled past haunting him in his new life, he's not just a character but comes off as a real individual, so good!
I like that in this story mental health issues exist and are taken seriously. Edit; I started to have mixed feeling about your narration of the skipped contents, because I'm getting the itch to read the novels...
Read them, as good as the anime is, it cuts so much and there’s a lot details, POVs and world building that is cut that even great explanations like these videos don’t really capture it completely
Exactly what ally said, you won't regret it at all. The anime only catches moments and tries it's best and pulls it off for the most part. The only difference is that it's slightly more gut-wrenching. I started with the anime and crossed over into the LN. Even though I know, it's a marvel to see it animated. The whole team have done the Mushoku Tensie story great.
I wish they would have put more emphasis on the fact that Norn was physically scared of Rudeus. She thought he was going to kick the crap out of her all the time. They alluded to it towards the end of her breakthrough, but I was hoping they'd put more emphasis on her actually being terrified of him assaulting her.
The real stars of the episode are Linea and Pursena looking out for Norn in the first place enough to be able to tell Rudy. They found out she's boss's sister so they're looking out for her.
Appreciate the LN perspective here. As a manga reader I was disappointed in this episode when I watched it because for me SUCH an important part of this whole scene was the seemingly manga only bit where Norn recalls Paul with a similar face to Rudy's current face in the bedroom saying effectively "What do I do if I can't make up with him(Rudy)" and Norn realizing that he's just as scared of rejection as Paul was back then, and let her get to the conclusion that there was no way he would hit her like she was afraid of. That along with the parallel to Rudy seeing Paul in the Tavern and recognizing the face really sold the whole scene to me in the manga and I was extremely disappointed that it wasn't there, but learning how it was portrayed in the LN sheds a bit of light, though I still have a little trouble believing Norn's breakthrough without that cornerstone moment. Because there's kind of not an entirely concrete reason for her change in view of Rudy but I do think it also fits to the style of writing. But I also assume this goes on to build up Norn for later stuff so I'll have to see then.
im a german anime only and in my sub whgen he said "i just wanna hear ur side of the story and that you apologize to my sister" his inner monolog said " idgaf if the person to step foreward is at fault or whatr happened im gonna rip him to pieces" nowhow he said it really had me worried that hes gonna kill a kid
The only part that I wish would've been adapted was when Norn was afraid of his brother physically abusing her. We do get a shot of her looking at her brother's clenched fist but we don't get the vocal confirmation of what she's thinking at that moment. Apart from that, the episode at large and specially the anime only additions were perfect
thank you for making these characters focused skip contents, up until now I had been watching AniNews that also covers skipped content but it's episode related. imo it's really good to explain stories of individual character per video
I was a bit worried the anime would focus too much on Rudy's perspective when they went hard on the parallels to his old life. Because I think the Norn POV was the highlight of this volume of the novels. But fortunately I was worried for nothing, they really did Norn justice in the second half of the episode.
Dude just casually giving me PTSD reminders of when I first read about the Latreia Family in Millishion and how awful a person the Grandmother was...also reminds me how well the story handles her character eventually...It's just phenomenal
It was such a great episode. It definitely did the novel justice. This adaptation is continuing to do great with the big parts of the story. I hope it continues for future seasons.
This episode is as good as it can get, imho! ❤ I was a bit worried how they can't fit everything Norn into 1 episode but I was happily wrong. Its funny how many comments I see saying pretty much "nah, it could be better." Just try storyboarding the thing into 24 minutes and connect it with the previous episode and make it part of the flow of this arc, putting enough context while avoiding internal monologues to describe how heavy the situation is of these two people trying to find something to say. They even fit all the important people in the next episode here! At least those in Ranoa.
I could tell that this episode was given a lot of care. What an absolute roller coaster. When the next episode title came up, "Turning Point 3", my guts dropped. I guess Rudeus isn't allowed to be happy for too long? 😬 This was a really good episode, and I'm kinda dreading the next. As an anime only for this series, I have NO idea what's coming ...
Rudeus: Ahh.. I'm getting used to this Noble life. Rifujin: Rudeus after clawing his way back: Ahh.. I'm getting used to this adventuring life. Rifujin: Rudeus after clawing his way out: Ahh. I'm getting used to this family life. TURNING POINT 3
8:00 that is what I love about MT the most. Rifujin goes through a lot to show people thinking process even if it's wrong. How many times we read Rudeaus making plans and back-up plans that were completely unnecessary
Thank you for your detail analyzes on this episode. It really needed it. I can't believe people thought Norn was pregnant. That is not what I saw. I saw Norn exactly like Rudy. Maybe because I'm not an anime only but a wev novel. RUDY couldn't leave the property he was born. It was Roxy that saved Rudy which is why he sees Roxy as a goddess to him. Because nobody could get old Rudy out of his room but Roxy was able to get Rudy out of his property and see the world again. Norn had stomach problems exactly the same as Rudy did. She could even leave her bed. Everything it would bring such great pain to her. So I don't see why people immediately thought she was pregnant. I guess those people have never been in so much pain that they can't even leave bed. I know that pain. Sometimes it was so hard to just go through a door. But once you push through it it actually is so hard to do. I love this story because it is so much more. It made me realize so many people are in their own head and everyone will always misunderstand things because they really are their own MC. Especially when you are young everything around you seems like it is against you when it doesn't go your way. Everyone is wrong because they don't see it from your point of view. So as you age patience is so important to understand someone. Nobody can read minds. So you have to work for understanding all the time. It is a constant struggle.
Great episode. Love Norn's development in the LN. The door knob scene and the yell out "Go Away" was in Rudeus's mind? I thought it was an alarm system implemented by the school to thwart male trespassers lol.
I'm so glad you cover this.. I haven't had an anime in a long time that I loved this much.. the ED arc was a little drawn out but this is still top 5 anime all time for me
Of course Norn wasn't gonna saw what was bothering her because she realized it was all on her she was being a child. she even reconized that her father and Rudy don't dwell on their short comings they keep moving forward and become stronger.
if y'all confuse of why Norn said that Rudeus looked like Paul its because in LN illustrations Rudeus doesn't have baby face like in the anime, he looked more mature and teenager like
19:30 well you can't be friends with your sister when you consider her mother as "the maid" instead of Paul's 2nd wife or even as Lilia, she's more than just her job now..
Very emotional episode even tho I have read the novels, this still hits hard. They did a good job adapting this. On another note, I fear even more of what is to come. Hint: The name of the next episode.
26:30 I wouldn't agree that Rudeus doesn't have a strong connection with Zenith, I feel the last episode of S1 epitomized his connection with Zenith by using flashbacks and dreams to show what she meant to him, I mean she's the reason he was introduced to magic at such a young age! "Healing" would've had to have been one of his strongest memories considering it changed his entire perspective of this world and what he was capable of, not to mention the 8 years they spent together, majority of that time being an only child.. Sure she didn't teach him magic the same way Paul taught him the Sword but it had to have been a big part of his childhood in this new world! To say they didn't have a connection is a bit misleading imo!
When we got to Norn's perspective Rudeus is really wrong with the issues with her. Its not similar to him where the issue is caused by actual malice and reinforced by their society so putting himself in her shoes could have made things worse.
Norn gets pregnant? Never thought someone would think that way. I understand anime-only viewers wouldn't know she's only ten, but she was never shown with boys, at least say she gets her first period.
Hey I just watched all 45:37 thanks for this recap. I kinda want to show my wife. So she can see how good of a medium Anime and Manga can be. They can tell powerful personal stories. Even if there a bunch of boobs and fighting in it. Haha Thanks for the video!
Just out of topic. How did Ruijerd got back from Milishion after splitting with Rudues in season 1? Didn't it required a boat to get in with an enormous fee? I've been wondering it for awhile now thinking back
Ruijerd met Paul and family in a different port town on the central continent. There are four searoutes, one from the Demon continent to Millis, another from Millis to the Central continent and two from the Central continent to Begaritt. Ruijerd has been searching the central continent for traces of the Superd race, which he believes might have gone into hiding to avoid persecution.
Im gonna read the light novels so I'm gonna skip this vid but ill give it a like and let it play muted in another tab thanks for informing people on good content.
I understand there has to be some type of limit. But I feel like we're being ripped off with all this missing content from the Manga. That's not being Transformed into the anime😢 Like watching this channel has made me realize we're being ripped off😭
16:00 Yea when you see Rudy like this in his past life it’s hard to believe this is the same Rudy we know, and shows you he’s basically a completely different person, he’s had so much growth when given a second chance at life.
Definitively he isn't a different person, on the contrary. He just had a literal second opportunity at life and because the new people around here didn't knew anything about what was inside they ended giving he the pushes he needed (like when Roxy got him to leave the house).
You know what? I think there's a reason why almost every reincarnated MC (even the blank mc ones) have a different approach on their life's in the next world even with their memories intact. they got a new body, new hormones, and no regrets in their previous world it. Seems like a traumatic experience could be carried trough your soul even when your reincarnated assuming your soul wasn't being purified before reincarnation, and I think that's what missing from the rest of Isekai stories. I really hope they would tie their stories development to the previous world just so they can feel rewarding and alive
@@deathdoorNah, I'd agree. If you put them side-by-side, no context, you'd be hard pressed to think they're the same person. The only way to see it is to go through Rudeus' adventure from S1.
Each episode i love and love more this series, a lot of people compare it to s1 and some get dissapointed because of the downgrade on animation, but the people who had connected to the history knows that it is still as amazing or even more than the beggining. I connect to this series from a personal level, i love the aspect of family and trauma the autor is telling trough this story. Serioulsy for me this not only the best isekai but one of the best fictional history ever.
After i watch these skipped content videos I am absolutely floored by the sheer greatness of this story but since the start of the new season I haven't really felt it in the anime. Without these videos I genuinely think that MT s2 part 2 is not even top 3 of the season(a shame because my ratings for the previous cours are 10-9-7.5 respectively)
Can you cover Eris's parents for the anime watchers like for 2 and 1/2 Episodes eris's mother disliked Rudy then all of a sudden she was calling him her son and covering how her parents perished?
