Fishing North Devon for Smooth hounds is amazing, these fish fight really hard and are a really good size, this however turned out to be a great evening in lovely weather making this trip all the better, and now we are on the board with a percentage and now looking for another good fish to weigh, tight lines everyone.

Hi I am looking at taking up sea fishing and need some advice. I will mainly be fishing from a boat and maybe a little beach or pier fishing. My question is what would be the best type of reel should I buy spinner or conventional reel. Money is no problem where it be £500 0r £1000 or more. I would rather spend out ones than have to buy another one. Will be mainly fishing of the English cost. And what type of rod would you put with it.

Hi Mark you can catch these on any of the beaches from Bude right up to westward hoe, just pick a good tide mainly over low and back in, a good cast will put you on them but as the sun drops they can come right in, have a look at our catching smooth hound on bass rods, I hope that helps
