At the end it's the opposite. Their torsos look thinner, but you can notice the fabric of the different skirts layering over each other and kind of showing their shape. It's a really brilliant stage costume technique, you can find some changing cinderella and sailor moon costumes on youtube to get an idea of how they work!

NoctLightCloud Firstly, North Koreans work 10 hour days, 6 days a week on their given task (and they volunteer the 7th), so they're genuinely pressured through mostly negative reinforcement in their performance especially at the risk of God knows what North Korea does down there. The pressure is arguably a lot more than Girls Generation or any K-Pop artist. Secondly, comparing this to GG is comparing apples to oranges. This is more traditional / folk dancing with little to no emphasis on singing. GG is modern pop dancing that are required to possess some vocal talent. One is motivated through commercialism and profit while the other is through fear and death.
