The Music Junkie Channel: It's a station devoted just to music. Tyler and I are both from Kentucky, where opioids or "pills" have destroyed whole communities. In some areas we have more pain clinics, or as we call them "pill mills," than we do restaurants. It's sad to see entire generations of families destroyed by the addictions people have to these pills, and to realize that multiple generations are addicted is horrifying! Tyler openly admits he is addicted to alcohol and drugs, and is now clean. Although his singing style is what we call the Appalachian cry. I've heard this style of singing my entire life, from my oldest memories to now the younger generation such as Tyler. It sure fits the pain the people of Kentucky experiences thanks to poverty, poor political representation for many decades, and the hopelessness we are all experiencing and feeling in this state.

I grew up in Pike county. My papaw worked for Consol for 45 years. My dad worked for Bethlehem Steel until the mine shut down. I left there in 1992 for Bowling Green. Tyler was right there in the mud helping people after the flood.

Loved this one. As you say, sometimes a guitar and a voice is all it takes. I am looking forward to looking into Tyler Childers. I recently discovered an excellent similar country song. You should check out Nolan Taylor’s ‘68.’ Really hits hard. (I knew my geography had to be close.)

I have no idea why everyone keeps reacting to this song. This is a great song, Tyler is a great artist, but this isn’t even close to his best. I recommend listening to Shake the Frost or Follow You to Virgie. Creeker. Honky Tonk Flame. There are so many to choose from. PLEASE.
