Nostalgic Flashback: 5 Short-Lived Cartoons from 1995 

The Critic is a major classic.

The Critic was absolutely amazing and honestly has only gotten funnier with time with how it called out how phony Hollywood is.

The Critic was a favorite of mine. Even went out of my way to find it on DVD. Still wish it had gotten a 3rd season.

The Critic actually got a web series after its TV series were canceled. It was shorter and many of the old characters didn't return. The main thing I remember about it is that it started with a joke about how it had to be a web series because it had already been canceled on all the networks.

The fact Aladdin the series STILL isn’t on Disney+ is infuriating

Maurice LaMarche (the legendary voice actor) had the biggest smile and went into a quick string of voices (including his famous Orson Welles) when I showed him my the Critic DVDs. Made me love the show even more

I remember 1 day i was home sick and watched the pilot to a new cartoon show, it was like Rainbow Brite but the girl was homeless or a troublemaker or something and she got transported to a new dimension and eventually decided to be the good girl. I have no idea what it was called but for some reason i always remember that odd show. I believe it premiered in February of 1993 but could have been 1994, i never saw it again

There were SO many funny things about The Critic from the subtleties to the tongue in cheek humor! The Easter Island kid from The United Nations School with the giant rock head! The funny "Hdrrrr!" sound Jay or other characters made when they were amorous! The funny references to his ex wife Ardith with flames and fire! I could go on! Haha!

I never knew Wild C.A.T.S. had an animated cartoon. Great point is listing out the shows it was not to be confused with. Such awesome nostalgia.

I loved The Crtic as a kid. In fact when I worked in San Diego, I purchased it the entire series on DVD during the 2000s. Such an underrated show. I'm not trying to kiss up, but I'm really enjoying this RU-vid series.

WildC.A.T.S had a rival show called Ultra Force (basically another X-Men ripoff). Both only lasted one season, but what happened afterwards was that both Marvel and DC bought out their publishers (Wild Storm and Malibu) and absorbed the series. Thankfully, they both still exist (WildC.A.Ts belong to DC and show up every now and then, but Ultra Force is pretty much dead...thanks Marvel).

I remember most of these. As a matter of fact I recently started rewatching the Critic on tubi and still love it. Also, it's always nice to see Bump in the Night get some well deserved attention.

Well, The Critic, I have the full series on DVD. Dad had a few episodes on tape so once again, how I knew about it. Looks like for the rest that I'm not familiar with, Bump in the Night, found it on another website. Looks like Littlest Pet Shop full series is on RU-vid. As for Wildcats, not to be confused with the Goldie Hawn football movie, and Snookums and Meat, could only find a few episodes on RU-vid. Anyways, did enjoy this. Thank you.

I hate calling The Critic a failure, even though it absolutely was, but its just SO DAMN FUNNY. Nilknarf!

I'd call the Simpsons more of a failure than the Critic. They cling to life like a vampire, sucking the life out of anyone that gets too close. The Critic made me laugh, and I still look back on the show and smile. If success means being on the air for 30+ terrible seasons, I'd take failure.

Good ol Bump in the Night

One of my favorite old cartoons that also had amazing toys was m.a.s.k. those toys were better then anything kids have now.

The Critic is one of my all time favorite shows. Still saddens me how it was only 2 seasons and a short web series. Only other one I remember was Bump in the Night, didn’t really care for it

I remember “Bump In The Night.” It was funny to my little sister and brother.

I watched all the episodes of The Critic from a seasons on DVD Collection.

I loved Tiny Tunes with its many film references and the Critic was like an more adult version. Loved it!

LOVED LOVED LOVED BUMP IN THE NIGHT!!!! Here in Argentina was decently popular, being aired on a national 24 hours all-cartoon cable channel. I remember after the first season (or at least the first batch of episodes), when it seemed there wasn't anymore they started airing an old episode along with a new one, on some kind of second season. Sometimes the new episodes were follow ups to the old ones.

The Critic was a hilarious, excellent series that unfortunately had a hard time finding an audience. I search for clips and scenes from it on RU-vid. Duke Phillips is one of my favorite characters of all time.

I remember all those shows! The Critic is still hilarious and is still talked about online. Littlest Pet Shop I would just catch the last 10 minutes of when I got home from school, waiting for Mighty Max to come on. Schnookums and Meat just filled the spot Monday through Thursday where Gargoyles would play on Friday. Even Mr. Bumpy because ABC had Sonic the Hedgehog so I remember the bumps and the show. Ms. Molly on that show seems a lot like Ragatha from The Amazing Digital Circus. I guess they are just both built on the patchwork doll design we all know.

Why is something a fail if it last one season? I believe shows are still good, even if there was only one season. Maybe the title should just be one season cartoons of 1995.

Oh man you made my day =3 Wild C.A.T.S - I used to watch this show I liked it tho not a lot. It was fun and had heroes, Most the members are Justice Leagers now, it is funny. The Shnookums & Meat Funny Cartoon Show - I remember the super hero part a tiny bit, I will say I maybe saw a few eps, I just do not remember this show at all, tho I know I saw an ep or three. Littlest Pet Shop - I never saw this, I know of it just never caught my eye The Critic - This, I love this show, it so could come back and he could be a online critic and maybe change some other things, it would be a great show to see return. Simspons are tired and old and not funny anymore. This show I wish they bring back and the movies he review where bad, they could make up a few movies now and then add a real movie or two it be a great show really they missing out not brining him back. Bump In The Night - I be honest, this is the first time I heard of this show LOL Well my rant over I will like this video mostly for the Critic and second place Wild Cats, hopefully you do not mind my rants LOL

A bit of triva with Bump In the Night. It was the one of the first stop-motion project to use a new method of filming, which helped streamline the process. Each frame was shot on film, and digital. That way they could test the animation before the film had time to be developed. This gave them the time to reshoot any frames that were slightly off, and get those sent out to get developed. This process had also been used on The Nightmare Before Christmas. Of course, today digital photography has advanced to the point that it has replaced actual film in a lot of media.

I remember the critic, and not seeing the appeal at the time, but now, every social media channel is full of people that love it :) Also, I was startled by bump in the night. I remember that "after these messages..." jingle but couldn't remember ever having seen the show. Perhaps I was remembering Mr. Bumpy as... bumpers... ?

I love the critic I even got the complete series dvd set and to this day I still think of john Lovitz as jay Sherman the show is actually good outside of just him hosting coming attractions the reference are really good like the reference to the ballroom scene in beauty and the beast where the song of the same name is sung with their version being titled beauty and king dork and the shows over bits at the end of the show are really good also it’s good Tubi is the new streaming home for the series after it left crackle just like Tubi has bump in the night that I just started a rewatch of cause I watched it as a child on abc

The Critic was a failure is something I never considered. Legit thought it lasted longer than 2 seasons, especially since it crossover with The Simpsons. But after checking myself, no, you're right it was a failure.
