Raddish 😆 there was a girl on TV and she was called Lettuce... thats the truth as for the bloody snails through them as far away as possible...fling them Emma,catapult the buggers fat away.Rocky loves you sooo much and he will keep the mice/rats away that's got to be a good things He's adorable ❤ The blue hoops are OK if your planning to grow something tall like Brocoli,or just push it down into the ground if you plant something that's not going to be smaller,but no it doesn't look silly 😊 This is going to be a great growing year for you l can tell,you've come on loads.Till next time sweetie ❤🌱🌱🌱

Emma, I created the blue pipe cover last year and used pipe clips on the out side of the bed. Used netting and cable ties which allows you to move the netting up and down to get access to weed the bed . The height is just right as you will be able to crawl inside. Consider putting a piece of wood down the middle to lean on as you will know there are no plants there to get squashed. Keep it going it all looks fab.

I would carry on completing the pipes on the bed. It doesn’t look weird T all. You are creating what some would call a high tunnel. I would attach something like a long bamboo cane at the top, linking all the hoops together. This will help prevent the hoops collapsing. All the best. Mags

Hi Emma. Allotment is looking lovely. About the blue piping, I think it looks a decent size for 2 rows in it. If you're worried about it being ugly and boring, you can get different coloured scaffolding netting that's good for brassicas which can brighten up the allotment

Rocky is a great sounding board for allotment ideas! He looks like he is healthier! .poor mite! ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️ Well, Brassicas take a lot of space so , personally, I'd keep the big hoops! you might need to tie in asupport along the centre though to keep it together. you might need to use two lengths of netting overlapping the excess in the centre..... I don't know if you can get it wide enough to cover. Other thought..... instead of dividing it length wise into two long skinny beds, You could go widthwise and have two shorter wider beds....
@emmasallotmentdiaries

I like your kind of madness Rockies, snails, blue pipe and the odd plant! 🤣 I think the height of the hoops is fine but the important thing is the height of the crops you will or might grow in the future. Cauliflower and sprout plants might need that height. It's good to have a variety of heights so you have choice for future planting.

Hiya Emma, enjoyed a visit at yours full of all sorts. Appreciate the bit re pond as I had asked I wonder if you can retrieve some tadpoles or spawn from somewhere else on allotment? Rocky always a high light lol would be funny if the owner watches your videos and came forth. Only advice re blue pipe from what I have seen is to put something like rebar, bamboo sticks etc , metalstake of sorts to help the pipe stay in ground without decomposition of twigs. Emma, what you could do re the blue piping protection is arrange it to one side of the bed so it's about as wide as the other one and leave a stretch down one side on the outside (the sunniest side may be best) so something unattractive to pests can grow alongside the structure. I've seen it in Vivi's videos and it seems to work well. Crazy Rocky!!
@emmasallotmentdiaries
@emmasallotmentdiaries Год назад
That's a great idea. I might grow something inbetween the plants anyway to stop them x
@growwell8872
@growwell8872 Год назад
I would leave the size on the blue pipe but would consider adding a small board lengthwise across the top connecting all the pipes and adding stability. Each pipe can be easily connected to the board and you’ll gain some structure/support for the overall frame! Love the diaries❤ Content is much needed for us! We’re in this together! 👩🏼‍🌾💪😍

Blueberries need ericaceous soil, work well with azaleas and heathers, probably others too but this is what I’ve done, it’s also good to have 2 blueberry plants near each other for pollination. Also with no dig although persistent weeds will get through just taking off the tops each time will eventually weaken the roots and they will die x
@emmasallotmentdiaries
@emmasallotmentdiaries Год назад

@UrbanWhiteBuffaloFarm
@UrbanWhiteBuffaloFarm Год назад
If you are growing brassicas there you need to measure how tall is it right now in the middle. Compare that to the height of the average brassica and see if it will fit under. Also check the height to the edges where it goes into the soil also because you will need to plant the lower height plants to the edges and the taller in the center. Now as far as the snails go you do not know they might identify as part of the royal family which I would think would afford them nothing but the finest of everything. I am just an American so of course I really do not know anything about it.

Water lily leaves are BROWN when they break the water surface. Just be patient, is what my wife tells me.

Hi Emma, I'm not sure if you know, crystal apple cucumbers are not F1 type varieties. You need to make sure you remove every male flower because if you don't your cucumber's will smell like sweaty socks and taste awful. Trust me I've done it and with the best will in the world you won't be able to eat them....
