Dealer recommended replacing the power steering control module part number 89650-53020. car has the following codes. C1515 torque sensor zero point adjustment not performed C1525 rotation angle sensor initialization not performed
Different car, but I corrected a power steering outage on my RX400H with a new ECU....AND new high voltage fuses that are housed under the relay block that sits between two of the hybrid batteries under the cover. That was it: done. And the PS returned (with the dash light going black) after the DEALER and an Auto Electric shop assured me that it could'n't be the fuses, and they (tried to) spent a lot of my $ trying various options. Try the fuses: $40 for the both of them!
Pls, I got a 2008 GS350, lovely ride but my steering gets hard intermittently, it gets hard to steer erratically and stays like that till I put off the engine. Error code is C1528 -motor rotation angle sensor. What does this mean and what can I do???
Thanks for the video,it help in solving the error code on the 2008 Lexus is250 I was working.I still have a little problem cos the steering is still hard with no error code.
How do you know when its the loom or just the steering rack itself. most technicians say 9 times out of 10 its the steering rack that needs replacing. - Car only has stiffness on the steering wheel on small speeds, like in a parking lot
Testing before making a decision is the answer. That's why it better to take your car to a place that charges for diag, not free or included because if the shop make a wrong call, car owner does not have to pay for the unnecessary parts or labor.
I have a 2016 Lexus ES350. I drove through high water just about tire height. Shortly after I started experiencing strange intermittent tight steering, car was wandering alot which I assumed was my alignment. I had about 20 different alignments done thinking nobody was doing it correctly, the 3rd cable you showed under the car is the same 1 have under my car. 1 day I disconnected it and my steering wheel went extremely tight, I could move it but only using extreme strength. I took a bottle of CRC electronics cleaner and sprayed the plastic end of the cable alot. I then sprayed the inside of the connector port. Put it back after a few minutes and my steering was so smooth again, I mean better than before I had drove through the high water. I almost blew $2,200 for a new rack and pinion and install. This video is dead on 👍
I'm glad that the video helped. Looks like when you drove through the water some mud might went into the connectors and created a no contact situation. Which made the power steering not communicate with the vehicle.
To the end of what cable exactly? I have a 2006 GS300 & I’m having the stiff power steering issue. I used to be able to temporarily reset it by turning the car off & back on & twisting the steering wheel to the right twice. But that’s not working anymore. It’s just straight up Stiff & the P/S light is on & stays on.
Just gone through high water 2 days ago and got the same problem of heavy steering. After this video i know what i have to do (the connectors under the car) thanks for this video
Outstanding diagnosis! I have a 2006 GS430 that has a fault for the torque sensor and I'm going to follow your lead in tracing wires. Thank you for the fantastic lesson!
I really really wish you were in my area (Maryland) and I could have a diligent, honest thorough mechanic like you to help me for the same exact issue in my 07 Lexus IS 250
Good day mate , had my toyota 2005 crown wheel bearing hub replacement done both back wheels then I got ABS check plus P/S lights show on dashboard ? Can u help me on the P/S the abs I just found that I forgot to put back on the abs sensor in it position 🤦♂️ it happens when rushing!, brother thank you so so much for your great videos you share help all of us who need from your experience and knowledge as well , wishing you all best cheers Matt 👋😊
First thing i would suggest to drive the car for a week notmaly. Maybe it will go off by itself. After that you need to scan the car and see what codes in it.
@@DallasAutoDiag Good Day , Thank u Ok Great I’ll do that and I just saw it now it it shows me with a Japanese language I just get translated by app It says PCS System check ? I don’t know what is that mean , that’s happening after I rest ECU by taking off the battery negative for about 15mins and I saw what i told you now sorry 🤦♂️
Am having issues with Lexus is250..... parked for about 4weeks....now won't start or crank, dashboard lights complete, battery, alternator, starter good, fuse and relay good..... crankshaft sensor and fuel pump good.....am suspecting pcm or fuel pressure sensor....note no fault code..... what could be the problem
Do you think is possible that the battery is burning my module? The first time I changed it, it was only the module, it worked for few seconds, then came back to very hard again, I took my car to a local mechanic shop, they told me the battery must had burnt the module. Second time I changed it was the module with a new harness to the rack and pinion steering, turned the car on, it worked for few seconds again, and came back to very hard again. Thinking it was the programming, the mechanic shop told me that that was not the issue. I even bought the OBD Computer Scanner that you have and it says it cannot recognize the module so I could not program it at all. I could not get to the point where you move it 90 degrees left and right. Any thoughts?
Could you please support with a link of where you purchased the OBD scanner? I want to get one because I am running with the same issue. I got one from Autozone and I couldn’t re program it.
I have hard steering especially on the high speed when I try to turn left or right. The power steering light is off. It’s 2011 Lexus IS 250. What can I do
Whats up bro. Question, how did you hook up your scope to the can lines. I got the same exact problem but unfortunately I don't have any bad wires and my rack and pinion components seem to be within spec. Only thing i have left to check is the can lines but dont know how to hook up with a common ground and all that i have the snap on scope but im assumig the autel one doesnt vary too much from it in theory . thanks bro
Thanks for the video, I have got 2006 model Lexus is250 it has only done 90000km , I was making U turn and all of the sudden it gets so hard to turn and the steering wheel has no power at all. It has no sign of any warning lights on or anything. I went to the mechanic and scanned the car still not showing anything, the mechanic said I have to change both module and steering rack,it will cost me $2000 so I end up parking the car at home still figuring it out any solutions. What is your opinion on my situations thanks
The first thing to do is not to let this guy fix yohr car because 2 parts do not brake at the same time. He wants to change both parts because there is a high chance to fix it but you might not need both parts. Other than this you have to find a good diagnosticin to find whats your car problem.
Currently in shop for diagnostic, on the lexus forums they say to remove ps module and clean all connections and apply dielectric grease..or could be loose connection plug on rack
Great video , my car is having same issue, I got a new ECU But it gets hot and the steering get stiff again. I don’t know what to do planning of changing it again. Pls help out.
Hello i am unsure if you will ever see this but i am having a power steering issue with 2006 is350. Orginally it waspower steering would go out every once in a while and i would reset it with the car off and shaking wheel in the key in the on position. After a while i found out u could clean the ecu part so i did, but when i did that i lost power steering completely and a reset doesnt fix it. I checked it with a scanner it began showing torque sensor but i have a hard time believing it completely failed the moment i cleaned the power steering ecu connectors Since then i bought a new power steering ecu box and it still hasnt come back with a replacement.. Any advice?
So when the module was first cleaned and i lost powersteering completely no codes appeared but torque sensor for steering column. And one thing to note is that i have been driving it for like 7 months without powersteering and every once in a while it gets easier to turn/drive. But this happens maybe every other two days
I have a question so I I have a 2006 Lexus GS 300 I had four original codes 2 ECM malfunctions and 2 torque sensor codes I replaced the emps and rand codes it showed jus c1511 I was able to get to clear the code and go into the calibration mode ..my wife was actually doing it but couldn't turn the steering the 90 degrees required this caused the calibration to fail after the fail c1511 c1515 and c1525 ..showed ..at that point tried to erase codes and go back into calibration mode but it will not clear the first time it did it grounding the pin 12 ts ..but it did not clear the second ..is their a way to clear the code will doing the paper clip trick do the job so I can try an calibrate it again
hi sir. i also lost power steering on my is250 but no lights on dashboard. checked every connector and they are all ok. happened after changing lower ball joints, didnt get alignment
My ISF has intermittent PS fault … sometimes it’ll be fine the entire day other times if won’t … praying I just have to push the harness it and find a way to secure it tightly to the Module
Hello buddy am having a car with the same kind of rack. A 2007 toyota crown. For some reason the ps light comes when i start the car on a flat surface but not when the left is raised help
Hello. I have a 2006 lexus is250 that starts up fine and drives great but just won't go past 3rd gear. I'm thinking it's an electrical issues rather than mechanical because it's not making any weird noises and I read on a forum it might be a sensor inside the transmission. Just wondering if you've ran into a similar issue. Thanks.
@@DallasAutoDiag Funny thing is the only reason I found this video is because the p/s is actually acting up again I guess he never got that permanent fix like you recommended😅
My 2007 is250 has the p/s light and so the car won’t start at all. I checked the plug at the rack and pinion and it seems solid. My next option is to find the power steering module
Thanks for the vid, maybe you can give me some advice....Power steering not working, p/s light is on. When I start the car, the powersteering works for about one second and then goes off. Along with it the speedometer stoppped working and the abs and the brake warning light are on. Abs sensors are new.....any clue where I should start troubleshooting ? Thx man
@@DallasAutoDiag hello and good morning from Germany and many thx for your answer. You now have a friend in Germany😀. I just read the codes and it reads the following: Fault code: DTC0U0121 Lost Communication With Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module (Sounds like ABS ECU need replacing?)
@Oliver Gunka Toyota is known for having bad ABS modules. It up to you if you want to take a shot on replacing it, or find someone to properly diag the issue.
Another fault to look for is low voltage. I have a 2006 GS430 and had a bunch of weird things all pop up at the same time. Turned out that my alternator was bad. Are replacing and clearing the codes, things are all back to normal! Modern cars are pretty sensitive to voltage issues...
@@DallasAutoDiag hey thanks so much i had the exact same problem and this video help me out a great deal .. the wires seem to be a problem on these cars
@@DallasAutoDiag there's a lexus isf being worked on, and it was giving the error code 1555-Welding Failure of Motor Relay. Symptoms- upon ignition, EMPS error light appears in dash, no Power steering assisst. Short term fix- restart car and during ignition, rock the steering wheel left and right and the light goes away, power steering works. After checking the wires and they were fine, The ECU was changed from a model: 89650-53040 to model: 89650-53060; it worked fine for a day, no calibration was done, light never came on. Then 24hrs later the 1555 code came back, along with 1523-Excessive Current Deviation. Now, the old ECU was re-installed, but when the short term fix is attempted, there is a strange feedback in the steering column. It feels a little loose at first, then while rocking steering wheel it feels like gears are rubbing together, or like an electric motor is being forced to spin but its not getting power, I wondered if the power steering motor isn't activating, then finally, the steering stiffens and there is no power steering at all. This was never happening with the old ECU. So my question is, could a lack of calibration cause the steering wheel motor to malfunction, or cause that strange feedback in the steering wheel?
@@DallasAutoDiag Was experiencing code c1555-welding failure of Motor relay. Put in an ecu from a 250, it didnt work, now experiencing c1523-Excessive Current deviation as well as c1555. I re-installed the old ecu until a new one arrives. But now not only does the EPS not work, right after I start the car, if I turn the steering wheel left and right there is weird feedback as if things are rubbing together in the column. Would this feedback be caused by a lack of calibration?
@@DallasAutoDiag thank you for replying I am currently looking for a scanner with the same function to calibrate the torque sensors, which feature should it come equipped with?
