I disagree @roguecylon he loves CrossFit and the athletes and has built a business around it, but has interest in weightlifting. I respect that- I am obsessed with CrossFit and love the CrossFit space, but I only CrossFit 3x a week currently- you don’t have to only CrossFit to be a crossfitter- that’s not all that varied- I hike and bike and climb, nordic ski, downhill ski, none of that is done in CrossFit (no, they don’t do real biking in CrossFit, don’t even try to argue they do😂)but I still consider myself a crossfitter and love it, and all the creators, and the games, the community. I started back in 2012 and consider myself an og- CrossFit is good but balance and what makes you feel your best and happy is better. Dogmatic allegiance to anything is never a good thing in my opinion. Also- @vndk8 he has to go to events to make the money on his vlogs- he’d be worse off if he stopped traveling and making the content that got him here. Don’t you think?
Craig started as a bodybuilder on RU-vid with his sister. He moved to CrossFit and that is where he took off. It seems like he thought he could take a run at a British Oly lifting title which he won. Now it seems like he is going for a British record which is like being the tallest Pygmy. His old vlogs with Mikey and the boys doing CrossFit team comps were his best days.
There’s also a matter of not just Craig having trained for a long time, but he trained high volume with a lot of intensity, too. Even in CrossFit, Craig was actually pretty damn fit (still is, really). The part people might miss is that if they’re just a regular person with a job that does the WOD and that’s all is that they’ll never have Craig’s results. That’s fine, as long as they have reasonable expectations, but a lot of people don’t and get discouraged because they expected results overnight
So I watched his video and I think what he was saying was more along the lines that many of the current people checking out what is being portrayed shows people that are on gear. You yourself stated that you are on and IMO that is perfectly fine. How ever it can lead to a false impression of someone that is still young (granted kids now are more developed than what I was at their age currently 43) the only way to be able to perform at these specific levels or to achieve specific physique is to be on PEDs. Now I fully believe that someone that is moderately athletic (soccer or lacrosse player) were to start lifting and then proceed to the crossfit realm would have no issues what so ever achieving the same area as him or yourself with out the need of PED with proper training and coaches. Now I could way off and full accept any criticizing I receive. I enjoy both your’s and craig’s videos but I also like to provide other points of interpretation. Also yes they lost money at the last WZA event doing their booth and meet up. There financial was mainly due to shipping and logistical stuff. I am pretty sure with them being sponsored by GOWOD that they pick up their trip and stuff but not sure.
I’ll be honest, I’ve got no idea what you’re talking about in this video. But, I do like the style of walking us through your thought process during the workout. Helpful for understanding stimulus and coaching tips.
You smashed it Hiller🤘💪🙌... I'd like to see how this would turn out with your feet in front of you. And yes you are correct to put this in the games with ring dips instead would be narly!
I don’t think it’s necessarily a CrossFit workout. Before I was doing CrossFit or had even heard of it I was doing bodybuilding I was doing things like this for an end of session pump session. I just don’t think I had a time domain but just tried to get it done as fast as possible.
It might not elicit as much growth as traditional bodybuilding, but as you talked about time under tension, spending that amount of time doing pullups and dips for most people is going to help them grow, whilst possibly helping with muscular endurance. Im not saying its the same or necessarily as effective as traditional bodybuilding, but for most people is going to be plenty to get a descent back/bi chest/tri stimulus. And u might be right on the 19 yrs of training etc, not ayaing it was a bad take, just that, I'd argue that its at least aspirational, whereas someone on gear is not aspirational for anyone who doesn't want to take gear, its impossible.
Love how you focused in a very small portion of the video by Craig... Think his main point was how many young adults(mostly men)feel like they have to take "gear" to get a body that "fitness influencers" are promoting on socials and they are on "gear" not done by just eating right/taking supplements and training alot (think someone like James Smith has talked about this alot on his socials).
Love your videos. Not so much this one, not your best take either! Having said that, I have 2 comments: 1 - I think Craig's comment is actually coming from a good place. Being father of 2 young girls, one weightlifter and the other one crossfiter... yeah, I worried they get influenced by fastracked paths and harm themselves with the side effects of PEDs 2 - I've never commented in your videos, don't usually do it in any videos. But you "made me" comment this one. So... I see you 🙂 all the best 👊!
@@hillerfit Perhaps, assuming you're right about what he did before. That said, he plainly admitted his capacity is currently shit. But someone says something about Richey--who's not a crossfitter right now--being fitter than you and you were prompted to make a video proving you're fitter (duh) and take a jab at him? And a mini-lecture on bodybuilding? The first words out of his mouth were, "As a bodybuilding-*crossfit* finisher for capacity...". He refers to it as contributing to a "dash of aesthetics"---hardly advice on how to optimize hypertrophy. That video was a one-man pissing contest against a fabricated opponent.
Lookin thicccc Hiller. Love it. Thoughts on most CrossFitters are jacked, they do CrossFit. Not much body building, TUT, not many 3 minute rest breaks. Am I misunderstanding you? I am sure the top dogs have body building pieces in one of their 4 sessions throughout the day. But man, if I did even 2 a day I don’t know how I’d recover for the next day. Although I could assume you’d say that’s poor programming then? Sorry for the long winded comment. Keep doing you man
Only 7 strict dips? I think 5 strict pullups is equal to 10 strict ring dips for me...but hey I'm nitpicking cause Craig's shirts are too baggy and it bothers me hahahaha
Craig can lift well. But his mindset has always been bodybuilding, and now powerlifting. His endurance and overall fitness is slightly above average. Achilles heal has always been doing chippers and Metcons. Hence why he gave up CrossFit, he hated the volume.
Hiller , how about a challenge this holiday season? 🏋️♂️ holiday workout showdown you write the workout and any RU-vidrs that want to test them self against you (my self included ) 😂 have at it and get a video up! Or we could go live ! @andrewhiller
@@hillerfit Perhaps we should put this theory to test. I’m sure Mr. Richey would gladly divulge the work done before the finisher and the other pertinent details involved.
CR is not likely to have been natural his whole career as a fitness influencer. He ran in BB circles and PED access is quite easy and culturally ingrained in UK gym culture.
Fair play for flip flopping. You put out an olive branch and it must have hurt with seeing the accounts, vegas and miami but you didnt shy aeay feom the truth as always. Respect
Curious if there is a correlation to the names in the "Fitness Space" that have blown up and peaked viewership, to then letting it get to their head and stumble down. I have nothing negative to say for the most part but compared to years back I don't watch nor am too interested in many names I would watch as soon as they uploaded. JujiMufu, Stefi Cohen, Bradly Martin, Craig Richey, Buttery bros, etc. at some point during their growth, its seems they lost something that kept me wanting to watch more. Who knows, but this is a good take. I genuinely think if some of these names that avoid saying your or even Sevan's name were to just bite the bullet and converse with you guys it would change their opinion on yall. Andrew the affiliate rep was a perfect example. Instead of them vs yall, should be all you guys vs the world...ya'll already have 1 thing in common and that's the love for CrossFit.....not the company but the idea / Methodology.
All of those names mentioned came up when the style was heavily edited RU-vid videos, before then you had more Sam Sulek style talk and lift stuff. At the end of the day you always run out of CF or Bodybuilding or whatever it is, you see them transition to lifestyle channels. CF was always small to begin with, the RU-vidrs that came up in it were always going to run dry. Now that CF is on the downward trend, you see the cracks showing more and more. Sam Sulek and his style videos are on the upswing again, and if you always made up with editing what you lacked in personality you're going to get drowned
@@Osirius44 solid point there, I guess that raises the question to how are these fellas still keeping some of us engaged and what not. Oddly enough, Hiller & Sevan annoyed the shit out of me, but I continued and gradually started to enjoy more and more even if I didn’t agree with them. These other channels annoyed me as well and I tried to push through but they lost me 😅. Of course, it’s my bias opinion, but Hiller, Sevan, CPW, GWTP, and a few other names seem to have done something different. Can’t quite figure it out yet but fingers crossed they don’t lose their “integrity”.
@@erniegarza7764 Sevan, for all his faults, has both a personality and cred. He's been there for years. Hiller has a personality. Glassman had a personality and a mission. Present day HQ does not, and the days of blindly following a corporate line are fading very quickly. In an ecosystem with such little money, you can't afford to keep jumping from one thing to the next
@@hillerfit I think you could’ve stopped saying “not a bodybuilding workout” after about the 8th time. We all got your point by then. The whole video seemed pretty mean-spirited which is not your usual m.o. honest ? Yes. Blunt? Sure. But this one was kind of condescending/smug/mean-spirited. And if that was part of the “schtick”, it didn’t come off that way at least to me. Usually I can tell but this time was … different.
I can't understand why crossfitters have to do everything crossfit style? Somethings are better to do as they are usually done. For example zone 2 or bodybuilding are one of those things. Why not pick the best of everything instead of trying to do everything crossfit?
@@hillerfitcompleted. I was at the fire station so I didn’t have the matador. So I did strict ring dips instead. 7:30 My chest was swollen. Very housey
It is not a out the ammount that you take. It is about how high it rises your T-values. I've been on trt for 4 years with 125mg a week and the values are 600-800. If I would take the 200mg a week it would be supranatural for me probably and I would be "juiced". No the levels are just normal compared to the average man.
HSTL blatantly ripped off the designs of another fitness clothing brands tees last year, 100s called him out in his insta feeds and he just deleted all the comments.... And the post . Not good.
