I like the reference to partner dancing. It's surprising how much that point is not made in partner dance classes that I've attended but it's one I always keep in mind because of clubs, maces and kettlebells. Excellent instruction!

Great instruction! I've already got it with a 16kg bell. I can technically do it with a 50lb bell but I got sick kinda and ran out of food at the same time after 4 days of that I'm down to 171lbs so I can't throw around as much weight right now. The goal is 200lbs. I was at 256lbs last year but thankfully there was misfitandnerdy and Dan Jhon. I took some advice they gave in there videos to heart and a year latter I was 185lbs. Watched some sumo wrestling and leanbeefpatty and I was inspired to get the splits. That took me three weeks but I got em when I was 240lbs on my way down last year. Im gonna use this channel and Pat Mac to get some rotational stuff going and learn to workout outdoors and on the go. Thanks again. Nobody has as intuitive qs as you do. You made this easy to learn.

I use both kettlebell & club for this one and for Halo/Gamma Cast and Round the Worlds. I've also squatted with the inverted kettlebell in Order Position, like a club or mace Order Squat. Getting after close variations of a fundamental movement for months and years is a great way to first improve performance and then make nearly permanent imprints on the nervous system. Thanks Mark.

It is an extremely daunting movement when done for time and I feel the load in my core and abs a lot. The feet too get hard to control over time but it is an exercise for serious athletes.

You mentioned that its good for ice hockey too, is it better than two handed outside pendulums you did a video a while back? With clubs for now atleast and that video had clubs.

So is this a better exercise than club swinging provided we know what we are doing? If so, why? Thanks

I used to do this single hand with some foot rotation, on the balls of the feet. Pros/cons compared to this?

And yet, even with all of that admonition to not do this exercise first and only after a lot of practice with clubs and other kettlebell exercises first … SOMEBODY is gonna crack themselves in the knee, get crippled for awhile … and say “but you said I should do this!” No, no @markwildman did NOT … just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Great video

See Mark's series of instructions on the hydrocore and apply that using a Bulgarian bag. Fun and much safer

Hydrocore is a fantastic piece of equipment which is more forgiving to error than the Bulgarian bag. But it’s the same concept

i do this movement! i thought i'm the only one in the whole galaxy! i took the movement from qi gong. but i do it differently: i bent my both elbows in the movement. to learn it in the way i do it, you should first practice it many times without a kettlebell, with a very relaxed body, like in qi gong then add a kettlebell.

Swing question- What is your recommended strategy for people who are following your swing program and “fail”/can’t complete a given level satisfactorily (eg. get stuck at 20 x16)? Step back/Repeat the last completed level a few more times then retry? Divide the total workload of the difficult level over more sets?
@chrisking6543
@chrisking6543 2 месяца назад
What’s the frequency of your swing workouts? I would go back to 20X14 and repeat it twice then try 20X16 again When I did the 20 min protocol H2H I would add 1 rep per side per minute per week. 2 sessions a week. That work for me.
@popcorngenerator1925
@popcorngenerator1925 2 месяца назад
@@chrisking6543 2x per week. I’ve currently stepped back to 20x14 as you had suggested, but was curious what peoples thoughts were.

i dont know about the program, but what helped me with swings was that i learned the "sport style swing". in the sport style, the movement comes from the hips, and less from the lower back, and its much better for your lower back.
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 2 месяца назад
The idea is always to build up to where you break form and then drop back down. Injuries just cost you time and they impede your progression forward in any program, but they are always stop points.. go back a couple of weights down and start the program over. It’s a volume cycle and density cycle issue start with a lower weight and rebuild to keep perform.

Mark the hand positions differ from a club to a kettlebell. The question I have is with the slightly different hand positions does this change the effects when using the kettlebell v the club?
@MarkWildman

This kind of lateral movement is performed in the Weckmethod RMT Rope "Dragon Roll": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J25_41nPFLo.html. David Weck invented the "Dragon Roll" and the whole Rotational Movement Technique with rope. This movement is done with a thick cloth or nylon jump rope (typically 400g-700g). It can be done with ropes > 1kg, but only after much training. The movement is most effective if the arm pronators/supinators are engaged. That also recruits the torso rotators and leg pronation/supination. As with your KB exercise, good foot position is crucial. You are right: this kind of movement is rarely done in they gym. A fair number of studios are now teaching some flavor of RMT Ropes; it's typically called "flow rope". I'd love to see you try this and maybe do a video on RMT Ropes. :)

Not related but when my adex mace is fully loaded Is it harder to do flow and is unlikely to happen? I'm new to mace I love doing sit ups with it but flowing with 33 lbs and doing stuff is hard for me
@MorganBye
@MorganBye 2 месяца назад
Haven’t seen many people do flow with much more than a 10lb mace - 15lb if you’ve already got a lot of muscle. Starting over 30 sounds insane. Even if you’ve got the muscle strength your ligaments will hate you.
@Sam-vk8xd
@Sam-vk8xd 2 месяца назад
Get a 7-15 lbs mace for flow, anything bigger you’re asking for an injury. Don’t do sit-ups, bad for your low back.
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 2 месяца назад
Adex fully loaded is not designed for flow is really designed for the basis of strength program. Fully loaded. It’s 50 pounds at that point you need to spend more money on specialized equipment that’s not gonna fall apart shake or murder you when you drop it on your feet.

Yup, pretty much anything is easier than the kb for this one, but I believe he’s hitting on it bc most gyms have a kb in the corner these days.
@grindercap
@grindercap 2 месяца назад
Maybe I missed something in there yet I grasped that the only reason for doing this with a kettlebell is at heavy weights, like over 50 lbs, it is more practical in view of cost to use kettlebells.
@yosefco3
@yosefco3 2 месяца назад
yes, a Bulgarian bag is better
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 2 месяца назад
Bulgarian bags are more expensive because they are loaded by weight and they are less forgiving when you do something wrong and hit yourself in the face. If by that metric they are better than yes.
