Part One - “Fjord and Molly play Trebuchet” - • Fjord and Molly play T...
Nott and Caleb play King’s Vault and then Eagle Shot.
I really love the Harvest Close episode; it is my go to when showing new people Critical Role and this scene in particular is one of my favourites.

I spent a lot of time working on that effect - mainly on the glow on Matt's face haha

What makes it cuter is that Molly smiled and gave a lil nod in approval

I love how this obviously came down to the roll of the dice, but this feels so in line with their characters. They show up, one plays the fool, the other softens them up, and then they swoop in and get the prize they really want. Sometimes the dice really do make the story themselves.

75 episodes later we find out the meaning of all Beaus jade accessories, and this exchange becomes yet another incredible moment of unscripted, coincidental foreshadowing.

@@gageanderson7612 Beaus father gave her jade as protection, primarily against a certain hag. 75 episodes on it's revealed these two had dealings with the exact same creature, coincidentally Beau had gaving Nott 'protection' against it. (That is if jade actually does anything, since they checked and none of the pieces were actually magical)

I love the nott bubble cruising around while she was yelling "the one on the right" and the little "ooooo" floating across the screen as she said it these are all great little details that make this video super fun to watch.

Ah, back when the gang's biggest worries was whether or not they'd be able to get all the prizes they wanted. Now they're in a screaming flesh city trying desperately to save an old friend. Where did the time go?

I wish I was comfortable enough and delve deep enough into my character to have memorable moments like these.....and also have the campaign have a long enough pause to do stuff as ourselves rather than jumping from one objective to the other.

Talk to your DM about giving the players time to have these fun moments. I have the opposite problem in that 2 of my 4 players just want to keep moving on. I have told them I want to let things pan out, if two players start having a lengthy in character conversation I will do nothing to stop them. Obviously this isn't allowed in combat, but if you yearn for rp moments where nothing to the overall narrative is happening but everyone is having fun, say something. The point of 5e is to have fun with friends and the rules reflect that.

I remember doing the archery game during a medieval fair! It was fun!! :D ... i kept accidentally shooting the guy in the crotch at first... i was aiming for the torso, but the arrow just kept going there. then for my last shot he told me to aim for his torso. (fair, but back then it sounded like taunting to me) I shot him in the neck. He was wearing protective gear and these were for the game, but still. What a champ. Then my cousin went up next... Let’s just say he knew we were related. 😅

This is genuinely better editing than critical role themselves does for zoom-ins. I don’t know why they’re so opposed to showing the cast reactions
@rookadoodle
@rookadoodle 4 года назад
Because it's not scripted, so how would a cameraman know when to zoom? What if you missed the reactions of the rest of the cast because focus was all on one person?
@connorsullivan2745
@connorsullivan2745 4 года назад
Rook ADoodle but that is what happens, that’s my point. They show only Matt or only the Sam/Laura/Talisen side or only the Travis/Marisha/Liam/Ashley side, and they don’t show anybody else so we don’t see how they’re reacting. This video did show the cast reactions while zooming in! Critical role also doesn’t show cast reactions to things like the new intro, or the recent live show where the crowd spontaneously sang along to the intro but that was nowhere in the episode.
@WeeHobbit87
@WeeHobbit87 4 года назад
@@connorsullivan2745 mate what??? -Once the episode starts, everyone is on screen. Matt in the corner, and the cast split into top and bottom screen This hasn't changed. We see everyone's reactions. -This video doesn't show more reactions than critical role. They edited the original stream, they can't edit content that doesn't exist in the first place. -These zoom-ins are post-edits. It's literally impossible to post-edit something while it's live. Critical Role can't do anything about that. -When they play the intro, they cut off the cameras and mics so that we can see and hear it without interference. They can't show the cast's reaction during that time. -CRITICAL ROLE CANNOT PREDICT THE AUDIENCE OR THE FUTURE. "spontaneously" is the word here. the crew can't plan for what they don't expect The people behind Critical Role have nothing against showing cast reactions, but you have to understand that there are limits to what you can do on a live stream.
