The issue a lot of us have with creamier lip liner formulas is a) they are harder to control, and b) they can get gummy and weird. So the MUFE pencils (and similar) are appealing bc they don’t over apply, and they’re precise where desired.
love these videos!!! the rose inc foundation has been my most recent fail. it's not bad per se but it's just like... "meh"... which is not what i want from a foundation. plenty of other bases i'd rather be using. i need to do a full face of mediocre products video soon too!
totally agree, which is a bummer because it was the closest shade match i’ve ever had. but it emphasized every pore and line and transferred like crazy
I can’t wait for the vanilla fragrance video, but I also can understand why it’s such a challenging video to put together. Maybe you can just highlight your top 5 favorites that you tried?
I don't know if you've tried the Estee Lauder double wear concealer, which has been around forever but its one of my favorites and i can tell you that the cool toned shades are truly cool toned. I'm light/med skin with yellow undertones but I think there is definitely a trend with yellow based concealers. I mean look at Kosas. Those shades are way too yellow for cooler tone, very light skin tones.
My most recent fails were the LA colors face stick & new gel liner - too sheer & im quite pale (dollar tree girlies know that it's par for the course to have a few fails, they'll get used as base layers or for artsy/costumey/body makeup) , and the elf prime & stay pressed powder. The elf powder broke immediately (still useable) & was just meh. Normally for under $5, i wouldnt even think about it, it's priced appropriately for "meh." But i just hit pan on my blurring powder from b pure (yep, dollar store) & it wasnt in stock so bought elf. But the $1.25 version does do some nice natural looking, gentle blurring & contains synthetic mica (better than natural, children are mining the natural)! I thought it was a tiny amount of product, but seems pretty normal (5g). Honestly, ive been on a dollar tree and clearance kick, but ive been soooo lucky! My only other big fail was not getting to dollar tree fast enough for the new, very cute LA colors drop (scored 2 pieces tho, its really really good 😮).
I know you do not wear a lot of pink lip colors I think they would be beautiful on you I love pink lip color would love to see a pink and peach lipcolor
wait have you ever smelled dedcool fragrances? i can't remember which one exactly but there was one my friend sprayed on me at sephora and i am still traumatized by that experience (yes being over dramatic but also it was horrible)
I absolutely LOVE the makeup forever lip pencils, I don’t find them dry at all. They are not creamy by any means but when I think of dry I think of MAC lip liners.
Here’s an odd STRONG dislike for ya: Mac Fix + setting spray. Used it once, woke up the next day with a very swollen face that turned into a rashy chemical burn, and my face is still peeling 6 days later. It’s like I did an acid peel. Immediately returned to store. I am so traumatized and have no idea what I am allergic to in it. It made my makeup look great but it was too tacky for me…oh and I almost died. 😂😞
The milani lipsticks are the first product in a LONG time that I tried on and immediately threw away. I don’t really have lines on my lips, but they looked like damn corpse lips once I had it on.
Fail for me this year: ELF Flawless Satin Foundation was too thick and immediately creased. Couldn't even use it for stage makeup; it never set with powder or spray. Nudestix entire product line is too creamy and doesn't last, either. ELF Suntouchable smells icky and doesn't play well with makeup. Cover girl powder makes me sneeze, as does setting spray. Melt lipstick in Whora feels dry on my lips, but I can make it work with bit of gloss. Good thing we can wash this stuff off, yes? 😂😂😂
Appreciate the honesty, even if you are on PR. Something that was such a hype product was the Rare Beaty Highlighters. I find they are way too shiny, and sparkley which emphasizes every texture, pore & line on my face that I can not get on board.
Hope you bring back these dedicated "fail" or rather critiques, they are so useful and helpful especially to combat the hyped up "viral" products that often do not live up to the claims or are just being pushed by influencers so really appreciate your thoughts and care for quality, price, aesthetics, and performance!
@@StateofKait Ah makes sense, I didn't know if you had quit them for a reason but that certainly is a reason - shame, you deserve so many more views, I appreciate your time and efforts and approach to makeup, formula, and overall quality, such a rarity and a needed voice in the beauty space so please know you are adding such value and those of us lucky enough to find you recognize the sincerity you bring!
I can't believe I'm saying this but I finally tried Makeup by Mario Skin Enhancer in Medium & it was a fail for me :( The formula is beautiful but medium is too yellow, too warm. Light/med is a great mix of cool & warm tones, I wish medium was too.
that passion shade of the Milani lipstick looks so pretty - bummer the formula isn't amazing! I prefer dryer lip liners, but creamier eyeliners. I think it's so hard to market something for both, I remember thinking that formula was fine when I tried it years ago but never got the hype either! - Carli
I just received my MUFE anywhere caffeine pencil and was surprised how dry and stiff it is!!! Have you ever tried Anastasia Beverly Hills lip liners? People say it’s creamy and nice. I’m based outside of the city so I have nowhere to go to swatch anything in person.
Love these videos! Thank you! And YESSSSSS!!!- I am also so sick of companies claiming foundation and concealers are cool when they are yellow or orange!!!
I’m with you on the MUFE lip liner! I ordered one during the Sephora sale and hated it!! I haven’t tried the MUFE highlighter, but the Artist blushes are beautiful and really don’t look powdery or chalky! BTW, I really love your makeup! 😍 Would love a video on this look! 😘💖
I also can’t stop testing perfume right now and have like 10 vanilla scents on my sample list right now. So I’m anxiously awaiting your vanilla video to see if we end up having similar thoughts!
I don’t know if my experience is different than everybody else’s but the Kosas brow gel that I bought in the Sephora sale This fall is way different in a bad way than the sample of it that I had gotten a few months ago. It’s like super dry, but also really tacky and you can just really see it in my eyebrows. It’s not flattering- it makes my hair stick together And it doesn’t give off this nice glossy sheen that the sample one that I had did so I wonder if the castor oil that’s in it had like separated in the sample or something? I’m not sure what everybody else experience with that has been.im probably just going to go back to my Elf wow brow that has never failed me 🤷🏼♀️
Thanks for another fun video Kait! For me a fail is the milk hydro grip primer. For the life of me I cannot get it to not pill when adding a product on top! So many people’s fave I know but I tried it all (oil based products, water based products, brush, sponge, let it dry longer) and it always pills with the rest of my makeup. If anyone has a golden tip I would love to hear!
Oh I hear you, the super pale shades are all pink and then the second you start getting light or darker I feel like everything warms up and I can no longer find pink shades.
My biggest fail of the year is the LYS cream blushes. Unfortunately with my dry skin, they were just too stiff and not emollient, and they just stuck to my skin wherever I initially put it. I was so excited to try them!!
