My aunt gifted me a set of very thin brass-like bookmarks with various art cut-out motifs on them -- I found similar styled ones by searching for "metal fan bookmark" on amazon/etsy. The ones I have are actually rather bendy for being metal, so you can't bang them around, but I adore how they look and seem to be able to keep track of them much better than my paper bookmarks over the years.

I’ve used “book darts” as book marks for about five years now and I think you would love them! They are completely up your alley re: aesthetic, they are SO convenient (nothing falls out of your book, nothing you can misplace during a reading session) and you get a tonne in one tin, so they’re perfect for reading lots of books or if you want to use extra ones to also note favourite passages etc while you are reading they’re perfect for that too. I think they’re designed as paragraph markers but they are honestly so good for a general bookmark and I am a huge fan. The tins they come in are super cute too. I’ll go find a link to the site and share it in a reply, though I think other companies now do similar ones and I think I’ve seen them on etsy so there might be small businesses that sell them or sell similar concepts there.

One thing that really feeds my spirituality is hiking. I read an essay once that called hiking "praying with your feet." i may be an outlier among "spiritual" people (i work as a professional astrologer/tarot reader,) but i define that greater/transcendent something as the intersection of probability and accident, like a big algebraic equation constantly balancing itself to maintain life thru ecological interdependence. it's also a way for me to acknowledge that i don't understand the mechanisms that sustain life as we know it , let alone whether or not they have an overarching purpose. but just because i don't understand doesn't mean i don't perceive and wish to honor my connection to it, which is where i get things like my reverence for nature etc. hopefully this makes sense~!

Great video, as usual! 👌 As for other statistics, it would be interesting to see the original languages of the books you read. I mean, obviously you're not going to read in languages you can't speak or understand, but maybe some of the books will be translations? I say this because English is obviously the hegemonic language and this, among other factors, tends to erase cultures and languages. It could be useful to be aware of linguistic issues, like language loss or language death. To introduce the topic, I'm leaving a worrying quote below.

"Since 1950, the number of unique languages spoken throughout our world has steadily declined. Today, the voices of more than 7,000 languages resound across our planet every moment, but about 2,900 or 41% are endangered. At current rates, about 90% of all languages will become extinct in the next 100 years." (languageconservancy.org/language-loss/)

I didn't Enjoy My Lovely wife Either. I didn't DNF it because I kept hoping it would turn around and not be so predictable.

Haha audiobooks are my friend! Listening while I work or do chores or exercise. I also take time to read for a few minutes in the morning and at night each day ❤️

@@PlantBasedBride I used to listen to audiobooks all the time. Now that I share living arrangements with someone, it’s killed my ability to listen to books while doing chores because my housemate will invariably start talking to me about something while I’m in the middle of listening.

Aw that’s too bad! Maybe you can ask them to let you listen when you have your earbuds in? It would be nice if they’d respect your reading/listening time!
