Now better than BMW X3? 2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio review: Veloce | Facelifted family SUV put to test

The 2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio mid-size SUV has just undergone its first proper facelift - although it might not look that different. Yep, this is another case of 'squint and you'll miss it', which might not be a good thing given the stiff competition the Italian family wagon faces from the German Big 3: the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q5, among others.
So, what's actually changed with the facelifted Stelvio? The most obvious difference is its redesigned headlights, which incorporate a new signature for the LED daytime running lights (DRLs). Inside, the instrument cluster has become fully digital with the inclusion of a 12.3-inch display.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Emily Agar and her family of three spend a week with the Stelvio's mid-range Veloce variant to find out if it's truly improved. They even go on a road trip from Sydney to Melbourne and back!

Good review. I think the 8.8” display is absolutely enough and it doesn’t look like somebody in the factory tried to screw a random tablet to the dashboard because the designer forgot about it. And it doesn’t obstruct the view so you can focus on driving. The purpose of the vehicle is not to replicate a home cinema system. Regarding the driver’s and rear passenger’s comfort, I am 180cm tall (5’9) with 24.3 BMI and the space is great. On daily basis I drive BMW X3 2.0L Petrol M Sport which is more like a forklift rather than a SUV.

Very good review. I like the understated thing, its different. Its standing out in the crowd of dull SUV’s. Also behind the steering wheel you feel special. A well equipped car, it sounds good and to me is simply amazing. But then you still get the Q4 2.9 l twin turbo? Which is one of the quickest SUV’s.

No 360 degree camera system , rear legroom and front and rear roof height is tight for taller people , depreciates quickly

You are soooo wrong on this. I have one of the first Stelvio First Edition here in Germany (pretty much the same specs like this in a review) and 6 years running it through snow, rain, heat on autobahns (0ver 200kms/hr) and..... NO problems. Just had an annual service with oil change, all filters and brake fluid. Also no rust...I am in a snow/salt Alps. Great car. But if you want to hear about my 2023 VW California camper experiences you should reserve a few hours of reading time.
