I think a lot of people, including Mitch, are missing a key aspect of this. The wording says 'when Elder Brain *attacks* a player', not 'when Elder Brain does combat damage to a player'. *It doesn't even have to get through.*

Rules Lawyer here, sorry in advance. But, Mitch you misspoke about Notion Thief's interaction: since they aren't drawing on their turn, ALL the cards Elder Brain would make them draw are yours, not just the ones after first draw.

A few other cards you missed in the same category as Isshin to work with the Elder Brain: Strionic Resonator and Lithoform engine to straight up copy its trigger, Tawnos to copy it if you make the brain an artifact creature somehow, same with Weaver of Harmony and making it an enchantment. And of course there's extra combat effects, cloning effects, etc. The fact this strong of an effect is only on attack and not even on having to connect is crazy. Permanently stealing an opponent's entire hand and being able to play them all whenever with any color of mana is insane.

When I first seen this creature my mind immediately thought of equipping it with Blade of Selves giving you a token copy of it to swing at each opponent. The deck I'd put the brain in would be Tetsuo Umezawa.

Helm of the host would work better since blade wouldn't give you the attack trigger since the tokens enter "tapped and attacking" and were never declared as actually attacking, also I'm assuming you ment satoru umezawa (the new ninjutsu commander) which has the same problem as blades.

Notion thief doesn’t give them 1 card and you the rest. It just gives you cards. This effect is an attack trigger and therefore presumably not during their draw step…

I've never liked the fact people say Psychic Possession making you skip your draw step is a downside. You're still drawing on your opponent's draw step so you're not missing out on any cards

Cards like these are the actual types of card the rules comity should look at. If they're just banning cards based off of them not being fun to play against. Effects that steal your hand and don't allow you to play the game are not fun.

Play Blade of Selves, attach, tell everyone THEIR HANDS are OUR HANDS. Blade of Selves is also a mechanic flavor win for ninjas because they create clones to attack everyone.

Doesn't work, the copy created by the sword already enters the battlefield attacking, therefore the copy its never declared as an attacker so the ability doesn't trigger.

Helm of the Host seems better since the token copy is made before declaring attackers. That way you get to all the triggers. Sure it's only one token copy compared to Blade of Selves, but that's two opponent's getting hit and having hand screwed over, instead of just one getting the full package while the others just get hit with damage

"BRUTAL". Really? Almost everything listed here works on a 1/3 of your opponents compared to Jace's Archivist, except it also costs 3+1 instead 7 and doesn't need to survive combats. Like, how is it brutal? Changing hands lets opponents play their best card each turn rather than getting stuck with duds in hand. It nets you card advantage in a fun way and probably strong as well as you can probably get 4-5 card the first 3 swings. But how is it "brutal"? Would you seriously counter this over Torment of Hailfire, Rhystic Study or Consecrated Sphinx?

I also have the same question. The wording is similar do gonthi, so I think you could still play the cards if elder brain is gone. But a judge or someone correct me if I am wrong

@@ermporshe Hm, it's almost exactly the same wording. It says "You may look at and cast the card for as long as they remain exiled", so it's possible that you can still cast the cards if the Brain gets removed, just as you can for Gonti.

I worry about elder brain. I'm against control on that level fundamentally, as I find it's just a blowout in terms of what it lets you do. Play the deck you build, not my fucking hand.
