All hand forged on Vancouver Island, and it shows. The design is effective, the detail in the craftsmanship is impressive. A light axe head that gradually thins out toward the edge sticks much better, and would also be useful for light chopping, carving, etc.

Very nice craftsmanship. I also love having the 2 levels of available quality. Quick and dirty for 100% functionality with minimal pricetag, and then full on smooth as a mofo for those that want and can afford it too. I know a lot of the time I will have a little project idea in mind then once I start it I keep adding on and making it nicer and have a hard time stopping. It's nice to see someone who knows the perfect time to stop. I've seen this quality in other great craftsman too where they know the exact right balance between quality of finish and time and money invested making the tool overall. Just pretty enough that you wouldn't complain about it, and yet the build quality is still first rate. But with rough and fine finish options you get to have both. Very cool.

You don't have to spend a fortune. A very good axe is the Cold Steel Axe Gang, which comes at 20.25". Most throwers shorted it, but it isn't necessary for having fun. It is frequently on sale on Amazon for $20. The 14" Kobalt at Lowe's is another good throwing axe that is only $18 and has a lifetime warranty. Ace Hardware also has a 14" axe that works very well.

Hung Le A Jarl is not a heroic character. A Jarl is a deputy king, ruling one of his lands on his authority. For example when Knuth the Great was king of Denmark, Norway and England, he had Jarls ruling each of the countries he wasn't actually in. The English title of Earl is kind of the same word, while the British title of ViceRoy (of India) is the same job.

Small useful tip (esp for beginners); When throwing address the target head on, shoulder of throwing arm directly in line with the bullseye. If you stick it take a half step to the right, or left, throw again. This will help you miss the handle of the "stuck" axe. Or, as I do, pull your bull's before throwing again. Your handles will thank you.

I used to practice throwing with a cheap hatchet from a bargain store. I found a dead tree and went at it for ages. I found the best way was to walk toward the target casually with the pol resting on my shouoder, then throw mid stride. Not much physical effort required that way. Don't worry about sticking it, just hit the target with enough force to knock a man off his feet. If it fails to stick, practice a follow up attack with a secondary weapon (you wouldn't let the thing leave your hand if it was your only weapon, would you?) Then repeat and repeat and repeat. When I started with this training technique, I was sticking it almost every time. Very satisfying.

Resting on your shoulder is a bit too far back........ For most people. There is no single throwing style. As an axe coach, I tell people to have the axe and elbow at 90 degrees. Any more is a whipping motion that is less accurate. Practice makes perfect and patience is everything.

@tomknapp6194 3 года назад
@@masonw641 Don’t ask loaded questions! Lol Both have their merits. It is generally easier to have a perfect game in the IATF (81) than WATL (64) because of the difference between the clutch/killshots (2.75” vs 1.5”). My feeling is that the 81 is easier by quite a bit. But, there has been a lot of turmoil in WATL because of Mario (the guy running it). I met him and thought he was nice. But, some view him as a dictator that is making WATL difficult and has even permanently suspended some players. I have only officially played WATL so far, but there is an IATF place very close to where I work and I might join that league also. In the long run, they are both fun. A funny story about that is that they marketed a 4.25" axe and then a few months later, their own official axe was now illegal. And your bullseye looks just a bit small. Unpaid product plug here. If anyone in the US is looking to get into axe throwing, I found the PERFECT starter axe. It's the Olympia Tools camping axe with hammer. I found it on sale at Tractor Supply. Everything about it is perfect for a beginner; weight, balance, edge geometry, and most importantly, price. I was worried that the hammer poll would make it throw weird, but it actually just lends a little extra weight to a pretty thin blade, so it sticks really easily. I want to stress that this is NOT a competition axe. I don't even think it's WATL legal, but it's great for some cheap fun.

Looks like a good limbing ax. Curious what you think of duct knives. Got one from HomeDepot for gardening, pleasantly impressed.

I wonder if sweeping the handles further backwards would make them stick better as the shaft is less in the way.

That is a matter of preference. Some people like the hook handles and others like the straight ones. I prefer the straight ones in competition, but like the hook ones for trick shots when entertaining.

Do you know how long it takes for one of these axes to be made?

I have a question for anyone with the knowledge of sword care. I have recently started collecting weapons and was wondering what kind of oils, wax, or any other product that would be good to use on the blades. Anything would be helpful.

Do a “camping test” with the throwers and see how it would be as a backpack axe.

Skallagrim, during the parts that you explain the axes by yourself i've gotten the audio feed only on my left earpiece. Dont know if it's purposefull but it felt out of place.

Sir Bricklord: I did get one of those not too long ago. Was super suprised by the sharpness. Only downside for me was the unusable pocketclip. I heard they always have them way too tight 🤷🏽‍♂️ still overall happy with it. Would really like to see Skall review some.

@@OhCrxzeh i love them. I have three, my fa orite is one i just got. The TS80 (or 81?), it has a ball in the pocket clio so it flys in and out of the pocket. Absolutely gorgeous milling on it, full titanium with bone inlays. D2 blade of course

Could you look at, add to, perhaps recommend other videos to: " Hugh Beein (RU-vid channel) sword workout" playlist?

Stupid question about RPG character design, lot of them got only some pieces of armor like the shoulder or the left breast. It comes to me that maybe a newbie adventurer couldn't afford a full armor set and won't save much money as he want to increase his chance of survive each quest. Maybe he would gatherer his armor piece by piece, trying to get the best deals out of cost and protection each time he got some money left. Then what should he go after? My guess would be to grab a helmet first then padded clothes. Get some piece of armor to cover his legs, the left one first if he's right-handed. But articulated protection might be the most expansive parts right ? So maybe a breastplate would be a better deal ? What would be used to protect your legs outside of plates tho ? Were there padded or chain pants back then ? Question is, if your were a young warrior looking to stuff yourself what piece of protection would you buy quest after quest ?

You and Jason Mamoa should throw axes together. Guinness and axe throwing what can go wrong?

A few drinks actually helps. Too many drinks is obviously a problem. Common sense is the goal here.
