If you do see a Corvette that is claimed to be a 1983, what is most likely happening is someone looked at the ID tag in the door jam and saw a 1983 build date. Many Corvettes were built in 1983; however they are in reality 1984 Corvettes.

68-73 are really nice 74 gets a nod for being the last convertible . I would skip 75-77. 78-79 are nice but 80-82 are beautiful. I had an 81 4 speed. Loved that car. The car in your video is really clean for 51 years old.

How much for it

I just KNEW you were gonna say "automatic transmission". . .Yeah, I want a 4-speed. In the 1980's I owned a 1981 Vette. One of the last built in St. Louis. . .350 (only 190 HP), and it was a real "throwback" since it was a "4-barrel, 4-speed, Dark Blue Metallic with a Silver Leather interior. Bought it USED for $15,000 in 1986. It actually had only 14,500 miles on it. I drove it until early 1990 when TWICE in 30 days it was hit by drunk drivers. . .Once in the rear end while parked in a carport at an apartment complex. . .And once in the front end while I was actually driving it. It was barely driveable when I sold it to a guy who rebuilt Corvettes. I must say, I like the body on this '73 BETTER than the body of my '81. . .But I really prefer a 4-speed. Anyway, that's a beautiful one, with low miles and I actually like the unique color combo. But, based on my experience, maybe Corvettes and me just aren't meant to be. I can imagine if I was about to buy this one, if the Vette could talk it would be screaming, "Oh Noooo. . .Don't sell me to that guy. . .Please don't sell me to that guy!" Anyway, really like this one and enjoyed your video.

Very nice, but I prefer the '74-'77. I have a white '76, completely stock appearing, not the original engine and transmission. I built the engine myself. It's a very stock looking 383, but has a lot of aftermarket parts inside. It's also painted gloss black instead of orange. Transmission is a TH350 that I had rebuilt and modified to be more durable. And it now has a true dual exhaust and no cat. No luggage rack, right and left flat chrome mirrors. Stock 15x8 silver rally wheels, center caps and trim rings, and 225/70-15 BFG Radial T/A RWL tires. Buckskin interior. I've owned it for 35 years.

Nice car. Built March 1973. That L82 350 likely has at least one cylinder head cracked. Those heads were known for it even on low mileage cars. My 73 (Targa Blue) has 28K orig miles and both heads were cracked when I bought it however its not uncommon for the car to continue to run on cracked heads. On this car the original smog pump is missing and the smog injectors are also missing. A problem only if the buyer plans to show the car at events. The exhaust manifolds were removed and either painted or blasted. The air cleaner seal is correct but not original. The power steering hoses are original and really need to be replaced. The carburetor, if its original was probably rebuilt but if it wasnt it will need it. Overall that car is in really nice shape and at $33K it should sell quickly. Used Honda Accords are selling for 10K more than this Vette. Makes this Vette a bit of a bargain IMHO. The Honda will not go up in value

I hear a tick sound, exhaust manifold or lifter. What’s the Hp for that year? A really clean example of a C3 Corvette! 👍

Thank you for the kind words! The tick sound is from an exhaust manifold. On this particular Corvette, it has the base 190HP 350 V8.

I had a 73 that color with a stripe down it when I was 16 years old. It was a rattle trap and rode like a log wagon. You felt ever bump. The doors rattled the door internals just like this one. Not a powerhouse. Pretty Car but no pawer and loosely built. I drove an even older vette back then in 1976 and it was similar. These were built at the height of emission control which choked HP to an unbelievable low. It was like the GM factories did not tighten the first nut. It rattled. I latter bought a new 2016 vette and boy what a difference. The liberals turn everything the tough into crap. They are doing it again with the climate hoax at a time horsepower was realty blooming again. The Democrat Party is like the Grinch that stole Christmas. If it looks like someone is enjoying something, the swoop in to ruin it for everyone.
