Nurses Are Posting Tik Toks When Their Patients D*e For Fame 

I’m in nursing school and one thing we learn is do not post anything when you’re at work or in your uniform! There are very strict social media policies. Though these TikTok’s make others aware of the grief we go through and hard work we do, it is NOT appropriate and needs to be stopped. These TikTok’s are taken and make light of what is the patients and families worst day of their lives.

I showed this to my father who is a retired doctor. He is absolutely horrified. Where is the respect? I weep for the future of humanity.

As a nurse myself. I find these unprofessional medical personnel embarrassing and when they lose their job because of doing TikTok’s on the clock they deserve it.

The RN means Registered Nurse. This whole thing is disgusting! I would never even think of doing that. They need to be fired at the very least.

My sister in law is head of HR for multiple hospitals and she tells me about having to talk to ppl who post stupid shit on TikTok that either violates HIPAA rules or just makes the hospital look incompetent. It's crazy

You can't genuinely display feelings like regret remorse and loss for attention. Those introspective feelings are in conflict with attention seeking behavior.

If a nurse did this to my grandma (who literally just died this morning) I would sue them to the end of their career.

I lost my grandma last year, and I'd be so upset if some doctors posted a video after that, I'd feel like it was there fault because they was too worried about making a video or something instead of doing what there supposed to do, and making a video isn't important in that moment, who would even think of that at a moment like that, while that's happening, someone that doesn't really care and just cares about getting famous

I have been in the nursing field for over 40 years...this is a total disgrace....

I was a nurse’s aid in a nursing home. They trained and certified me on site and I’ll never forget my last week of training… I was on what was to be my floor (except I was going on graveyard shift, not days) and had to do care on quite a few residents. Something had happened that morning, I forget what it was, but everyone was running behind. I had one guy left (it was a men’s floor) so the aid overseeing my training decided to help me with that last resident. He had just gotten a clean bill of health from the doc earlier that morning, so she walked right in to roll down his bed, talking to him… and I froze in the doorway. I took one look and I knew. It didn’t take long for her to realize it either. As soon as she looked at him, she knew, too. She tried to get a response and getting none, she ran out of the time in a panic and left me alone… with a dead man… I had to help clean him, make him look nice for the family to come see him (that was creepy and weird) then I had to help take him down to the place I avoided like the plague… the morgue. I was terrified of the morgue. I didn’t even know this man, it would have been my first time meeting him and there I was helping to lift him onto that cold metal slab and push him into the refrigerated wall and close the door. It was pretty devastating, to be honest, as I was always freaked out by death and seeing dead people (like I would only attend closed casket funerals). My instructor came to see me later that afternoon to see if I was okay and I told her I was fine. She talked to me a long time because I don’t think she believed I was. I just shut down. You kind of have to. I’ve lost a lot of residents I cared about over the years. You can’t cry about them all and even the ones you grew to love dearly, you have to wait until you’re alone to cry about them if you must. But you need to stay detached or the job will make you nuts. I worked with a woman who would always act like she was sad someone passed but you knew she wasn’t and it always irked me. Once it was a woman that reminded me of my grandmother. I loved her so much… So when my coworker acted like that, I literally lost my shit later that day when I got home and thought I was going to stroke out. My poor husband had to hear it all. This is why you need to stay detached. But detachment doesn’t mean be disrespectful like these idiots. That’s just disgusting and if I was dumb enough to have TikTok, I’d be slamming these idiots.

As someone who had a Death Scare in 2021, rushed to 2 ER’s, 1 Concussion, lost all awareness for a Month, 3 Syringes of Morphine…. I would be quite upset if any of the Team would have done that.

Before Tiktok, I lost my favorite resident about 10 years ago, and I was told about it when I first got to work. For the first time ever, I actually burst into tears in the hallway, trying not to scream "Why did she have to leave me!" - I was so upset. But I wouldn't have ever mad a video about it.

I’m a nurse and would never post anything about my job. I think it’s in horrible taste no they aren’t breaking any laws but should never post anything about our job. I lost 2 last week it’s so hard but I’d never post anything. I work in geriatrics so they die all the time unfortunately

See I do think the mental health an trauma medical staff experience is legit and a real problem... but posting tiktoks which are 95% you dancing to music, don't even address these issues, and sometimes even breech patient privacy, isn't helpful. I also like that the glasses have become your "smart person" costume.

To all the good RNs out there that work so hard and genuinely care about people this is absolutely like a slap in the face to them. Also, for those of you who are real RNs and don't do this kind of crap and are compassionate, very hard working, earth angels, I thank you for all your hard work and dedication to your patients. ❤ I've met some of the good ones and they really are like angels here on earth. I'll never forget being in the hospital this one time and in so much pain and there was one nurse who took the time to just comfort me and even held my hand. I was a younger teenager then and scared that I might die from what was going on with me. I know she'll never see this ans even by some crazy chance if she did probably wouldn't even remember me or doing that, but I thank you ❤❤❤

I lost my daughter four years ago .I felt that the way the nurses handled her by taking I.v’s out and removing machines was so careless .I had to get loud and ask them to respect her! They looked at me and said well we need this room ! I was so upset .I wouldn’t put it past one of them to do stuff like this .I get it that they see more deaths than the average person .Atleast give the family time and be professional. The nurses that did these tic tocs should go back and study how to handle death .Theyneed to be supportive and caring .It is part of there job ,no matter what they say!

We are getting a different breed of nurses now. When I graduated from nursing school, all of us had one thing in common- we saw nursing as a calling. Pay was $13-16 an hour without an established patient ratio. During our 12 hour shift, we were not only nurses, but advocated for our patients. I see new nurses flaunting their expensive brand name tight fitted outfits and cry over every new task assigned to them. There are some nice nurses, but mostly are in nursing for money. This is why “calling” spirit is missing. Thus, the current status of nurses.

I have a friend in Nursing school and I can so see her doing this. I really hope she doesn’t. I do like the hospice nurses videos they definitely help when you have a love one passing away.

Nurses generally have main character syndrome. On my last hospital admission i saw nurses being openly rude to doctors. Gone are the days of us patients being treated by intelligent doctors, now nurses push them around because they want doctors to do what they say. It is sad and scary to see.

I saw a woman get run over three times while crawling across the US-60 back in 2009, yes I had a camera phone, no I didn’t even take a picture. I was stuck within 15ft of the body for more than a half hour. The scene will live in my memory for the rest of my life. I hold her name in my heart, that’s how I cope. The dead don’t deserve this kind of disrespect, it’s horrific.

There’s this thing that people on TT do which is pretty much documenting their life and journey through pain. Sometimes I really feel for them bc I honestly do the same thing, I don’t post them but when you don’t have anyone to talk to about it and you kinda need to vent or have an outlet it definitely can help. Don’t get me wrong, if it helps then to each their own, but I don’t think I could have the courage to post myself crying..especially while on the clock. Highly unprofessional..understanding from an empathetic POV but in the real world, this is unacceptable..😕

I really wish that you knew what was going on in the minds of a hospital worker. Literally, we take them Into palliative care, and then we go spend time with the family. I cannot speak for nurses, as I am not a nurse, but I worked in the hospital, and there was not one day that someone didn’t sit in my chair and tell me about how they were feeling. we have break rooms for breakdowns. I’m really sad watching these, but I get it entirely.
