I have a hw 99s which is very twangy ,however on the range the other day I had a shoot with someone's remington express and I have to say I enjoyed it more than my 99s

Hello Jim, thank you for your comment much appreciated. It is odd really, lots of folk rave about how great the HW99S is and on paper it should be a good gun. Sadly mine was a real lemon. A lot of folk get quite upset that I prefer the Express over the HW99S (certainly over the one I had), I can only assume that they haven't actually shot one.

I bought a .22 express around 7 years ago, used it at a range a few times to get it zeroed in...used it in Mt garden a fair bit. I quite like it , suits my needs as I'm not a regular air gunner. Enjoying your channel , great stuff 🙂🙂BTW I got mine from an old gun shop , no longer open, and he advised about the pulling the trigger whilst half cocked and splitting the stock 🙂

Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated 👍🏻. Glad you are enjoying the channel. The express is a good rifle, mine is giving good service. No point spending a fortune on an air rifle if it isn't used that often, the Remington is to me the best budget air rifle and beats some rifles costing £100 more. See that is the difference, an old school gun shop gives you that advice, whereas so many now really aren't bothered about the customer and indeed probably don't actually know any more than us, sometimes less 🙄.

I bought a R Express and at 5"8' I find the length of pull fine. The supplied scope fell apart fairly soon and stopped keeping zero. Yes they are pretty accurate, but I bought a HW95K and the Express has become redundant. The differences are obvious when you use them both. At the end of the day I think the Express is cheap and therefore you're taking a bit of a gamble over the end finish and potential for issues. One big difference is the cocking, the HW is smooth while the Remington sounds like it is tearing itself apart. ATB MMMD

Hello, thank you for your comment. Season's greetings. Sorry to hear that you didn't have as good an experience with the Express, although it sounds like you could have had a bad one. I can't argue with you though, the HW95 is a vastly superior rifle in every respect, but then they are a significant amount more money. Personally I think the Express is the best at its price level. There are much worse guns at higher price levels too. All the best, safe shooting.

Hello Sir. Thankyou for your opinion. Most people tend to be raving around these Remington air rifles. I think they're more keen on a so called bargain, than a quality, genuine product that's stood the rest of time, and having a genuine, passionate interest. However, if you are a genuine, passionate airgunner, like ourselves, I couldn't, for the life of me, choose something made in China, over something made in Germany. Just no way. I'm now finding the real reviews, like your's. I couldn't ever see the Weirhaurch stocks splitting like the Remingtons have done. There are also no examples of lockup problems/issues with Weirhaurch, like there seem to be with the Remingtons. I've never owned or handled a Remington, but it's Weirhaurch all the way for me. No issues and bullet proof.
@nickvending9688
@nickvending9688 2 года назад
It's warts and all in my reviews. It won't get me any sponsorship but I've always preferred honesty over money. I do actually like the Remington, but it would never surpass my Weihrauchs (HW98 and HW77K) although, again being totally honest, I really didn't have any joy with a HW99S due to galling, low power and lack of accuracy. If someone can afford a Weihrauch HW95 then they would be daft to buy the Remington instead. If someone can save up a bit longer and buy a HW95 then they should do so. Having experienced other "starter" guns and indeed guns priced over double the Remington's RRP and been disappointed by them, to me the Remington is the best at its price point - as long as you get a good one! Hence my warning in the video.

@@nickvending9688 I did the Pest Controller route ! The chrono and targets showed it was a shot gun ! a Welsh Willy tuning kit sorted that out and it now has VERY little deviation over 20 shots, I also installed the welsh Willy trigger blade, polished all the internals and I am sure (Only by handling) the Remington may lock up quicker and does have a better trigger than the HW95. I had a lot of fun playing with this rifle and learned a lot. although it did remained hold sensitive. I eventually gave to my friends son and stuck with my faithful 95k. P.S. I also did the PR900, Lane regulator, barrel band, etc Super accurate, light little gun, I have sold out on it also and it is now a cabinet queen as the low shot count has worn me down.

Hello Chris, thank you for your comment much appreciated 👍🏻. Sounds like some good work on your rifle, always satisfying to get a gun shooting well (I had that with my BSA Lightning). I ummed and ahhed for quite a while whether to buy the pest controller or the Express. I was swayed by the Express' trigger and safety catch. I might get a pest controller as a project so thank you for the information much appreciated 👍🏻. Yes the shot count on the PR900W is it's downfall, shame because it is a good gun otherwise, I really enjoy shooting mine. I am in the early phase of designing a cylinder extension for mine, just trying to get some CAD time at the moment. HW95, now you are talking. I kick myself daily for selling mine, but I really wanted that S400... Then I sold the S400 and bought my HW98...

I believe SMK send them out to UK head office and their gunsmith check everything over and get things sorted so it make you wonder why the defects . To be honest I've had the X19 and x20 after some tuning replaced trigger regreased they both performed excellently and you have done a nice job on your try Falcon 13gr nice flat pellet and fps up slightly Cheers 🥂

Guess the odd bad one slips through the net. Could even be that the stocks split in storage as they dry out, who knows? Thank you for the pellet recommendation, I will add some to the next order. I've found quite a few of my guns are giving much better results with lighter pellets so it is great to have another one to add to the list to try. I haven't tried the X19 or X20, I can imagine both would be good after some fettling.

It's interesting you don't like the 99s. I did try it in store but I haven't had a chance to try Remington. The 99s certainly felt smooth to hold and shoot, but I didn't feel it was worth the hype to pay double of what a Remington Express would cost for my first air rifle. I also somehow prefer the look of the Express instead of the 99s, that stock certainly looks attractive at the budget price point it is at. Would be great to know more about what you didn't like about the 99s.

Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated. My HW99S had several issues, I would say I was unlucky to have had a gun with all the problems that people report with them all at once. It was low on power. It was not accurate. The cocking sequence felt notchy, like it was galling. The firing cycle was terrible, a big lumpy jolt. The trigger pull was terrible and would not adjust to give a clean break. I believe a screw was missing. The ergonomics were pretty bad, way too small and the comb far too low. All in all, not a good gun. My Remington Express is also low on power, fit and finish is not good but it is a better gun than my HW99S was - more accurate and far nicer to shoot. However I have reviewed an older HW99S which was a very good gun in every respect, that video may be worth checking out before you make a decision.

Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated. From memory there was a grub screw, then it was gentle hammer taps using a piece of wood as a drift to prevent damage to the barrel. If you can I would recommend clamping the barrel in a vice so the hammer blows don't put stress on the barrel hinge bolt and the action screws. It should come off pretty easily, mine certainly did.

Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated. My 99S had multiple issues caused as far as I could tell by poor QAQC. The trigger wouldn't adjust to break cleanly, from having the same issue with the project HW95K, I now believe there was a screw missing from the trigger assembly. The cocking cycle graunched and was unpleasant. The firing cycle was odd and again felt unpleasant. The rifle was low on power. The rifle was inaccurate. I didn't like the stock, it was undersized and felt like a toy in my big hands. However I did test a 99S in a later video and it was a very nice rifle producing good power. I definitely like my Express far more than my 99S. The Sabre looks like a great rifle, the stock looks far better than the stock on the Express. I am thinking about buying a Sabre stock to fit on mine. My Express could do with a tune, it is low on power - thank you for the recommendation.

@nickvending9688
@nickvending9688 Год назад
Hello, thank you for your comment. You'll need a slip on adapter to give you the thread to fit the silencer to. Make sure you buy a good one that fits the barrel to ensure the silencer aligns properly, otherwise the pellets could clip the baffles. My express suffered with barrel droop when I fitted a silencer so a carbon fibre one is a good idea to reduce the weight pulling the barrel down.

Hello, thank you for your comment. Sorry to hear about the issues you had with yours but glad that you were able to keep on enjoying it. That's some good shooting, is it .22 or .177? I just wanted to make it clear in the video about the country of manufacture because there are a lot of folk that just buy based on the name, indeed I have seen these listed with USA as the country of manufacture so maybe some sellers either don't realise or are trying to kid the unwary.

Hello, thank you for watching and thank you for commenting, much appreciated. That's annoying that they still haven't sorted the QC on the stocks. I tapped the foresight off using a piece of wood as a drift. There wasn't any glue on mine, possibly another QC issue. Ironically I'm going to be refitting the open sights to mine as I've given the gun to my parents and neither of them like telescopic sights.

The Remingtons are good guns, pleasant to shoot and perform way above their price point. I wish some guns costing far more had the Remington's factory trigger, never mind how it is then transformed by the Arc trigger blade. The 95 is in a different league, I think it is Weihrauch's best all-rounder. Glad you are enjoying the content, I really appreciate your feedback.

I'm worried it will be a let down to everyone that watched the lightning series but as a spring gun it was not pleasant to shoot (before and after the rebuild) and I know that shortening the spring won't change that. I'm just waiting for a component to come back into stock at the supplier and I will then crack on with it. I should probably do a "build update video" to let everyone know.

Hello, thank you for your comment. If someone can afford to buy a good Weihrauch (by that I mean HW95 and up) then yes, fully agree. If someone can afford the Air Arms underlever air rifles then they aren't going to consider a Remington (or most Weihrauchs). However for people on a budget the Remington is in my experience the best budget rifle out there, good power, accurate and a better trigger than rifles costing twice the price. From my own experience I'd rate it as better than the break barrel BSA and Gamo rifles that are quite a bit more expensive. As you can see from my videos I also have a HW98 and HW77K. I wouldn't swap them for a Remington, but at the same time my Remington has earned its place in the cabinet.
