I agree. I used to watch Martin Crowe a lot when, as a young player, he turned out for Somerset in country cricket in England. He was a cut above anything else I used to see. He had the priceless asset that all the greats have : time to play the ball and the ability to adjust, that mere mortals do not possess. His test match figures would be better had he not had the burden of carrying the batting for a decade. A thoughtful and innovative skipper too!
