I got stung with a doctored up car from Copart bidding on cars at Rochford Copart and buying a doctored car from Colchester copart opps 😤 #Salvagerebuildsuk
If you use www.auctionhunter.io/ you have a good chance to spot those "Cat S" with no damage... Check this on sale: www.copart.co.uk/lot/29764150 and previous: www.copart.co.uk/lot/52485018 for example.
Rob, It’s a shame mate, but shows us even you with your experience can get caught out with a cobbled together motor. Big respect to you for what you do. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏴
As always you guys are being honest with the engine, save yourself a load of worry and hassle, it’s a shame it going to be a 2nd hand engine. The paint job is brilliant, Chris your a marvel, looking forward to the next instalment.
I wouldn't be surprised if the over the top bids on that auction site are the actual sites algorithms, programmed to push the price up and to maximise the profit?
I have been there several times with Copart. U should view but the make it so hard for you now. Appointments etc. Pain the backside. I get more luck from Gum tree spares and repair sometimes.
For the average jo (who’s clueless about cars 🚘 ) this is a definite bee 🐝 sting but for you its one that’s easily curable. Good luck and let us know how you get on 👍
I am no car sales expert (although I am an ex HGV fitter) but regarding high prices I suspect a lot of people are getting wise to the possibilities at Copart and are buying damaged cars to repair for themselves as daily drivers. They aren't looking to make money just save some.....
If we ignore the hidden damage that's rare car Rob. 500 Pop (base spec) with added metallic paint, air con and Bluetooth. A Lounge spec one new wouldn't have been much more.
Hi I am learning a lot through your chanel. Thx. Have you ever thought about building a course teaching how people can save money buying a cat S or N car?
I wonder how much it would cost to sort those two areas out at a body shop though? Not something I could do myself. I'm fascinated by this kind of work though. Really enjoy your videos. Cheers.
It’s vids like this that educate new starters , and help them avoid the pitfalls of online bidding not been funny tho with the 500 your buying so many cars here there everywhere the car looked fine just needed that extra close eye but if your mega busy this happened
Not everyone buys to flip. Some could be for personal use hence, why they’re willing to pay a little more. Always better to see them in person before bidding, especially if you’re new to this.
Unlucky mate. My recent 500 came with no front seatbelts, missing knee airbag, cut headlight loom, no washer bottle, no radiator and crash bars... But all covered up by fitting the bumper and bad pictures
I bought one off eBay found out later it was previous Copart buy n sell and it cost me over 2k to put it right properly and I lost 1700 on it :( Now I only buy from Copart and cars with visable damage that haven't been listed before, buying straight from insurance company is best. As he said watch out guys.
Did anyone manage to find the Old link from that auction number for when the car was first put in the Copart be interesting to see what damage it had to begin with
I bought an 11 plate BMW supposed near lifetime service history for 5 grand. Took it straight to my mates garage for a good lookin at and the oil filter which was only 6 months apparently from last service was so old the filter has basically melted out and the oil was near treacle. Fortunately after a thorough service it runs very nicely and pulls like a track car. Note to self “be more careful”.
Hi Rob, I thought Copart obscured the number plate and chassis number? There photos are not that sharp so it's difficult to view the damage in any detail, which makes a huge risk.
Nothing new, years ago some salvage dealers used to sell expensive parts off them & swap back on the duff part, sometimes engines & gearboxs, people would buy them after pricing up the cost to repair the accident damage but just assume they were mechanically good.
Yeah same here mate......used to do universal salvage and hbc physical auctions back in the day.......also had some good motors off d-hales as well who had no extra fees on top of bid price which is a rip-off on copart.
@@Alexander_l322 Exactly mate......seen many a fool crying tears at copart paying for a motor with no idea on fees which kills the job for trade lads......fees going up shortly and again in january so not good at all mate.
@@1972dazbo when copart took over universal salvage just over 10 years ago i used to have a car delivered for £50+vat to my door the copart took over and the price tripled overnight.i phoned and said that they will be coming out with empty lorrys to go and pick up thier salvage.after all the deliverys were paying for thier fuel for collecting thier motors.sure enough they realised that and put the prices back down.typical greed though and yeah the fees are crazy but thankfully we do get a bargain from time to time to keep us going back.
@@teatimetel174 Yeah the only bit of value for money on copart is the delivery as i get all mine dropped off as cheaper than running a truck and a full day lost but i do keep buying the odd car still but had more bad than good in recent years so getting a bit peeved off with it all now tbh.......if buyer fees carry on the way there going i will be out of this game for sure.
You’re kidding my friend the mot history on the traffic camper was horrendous, rotten as a pear. Enjoy your vids tho. Too many retail bidders on Copart should be strictly trade.
On the plus side you’ve the experience and knowledge to undo or ease the cock up A novice person like most watching this video would be stuck if we had bought that as we don’t have the tools etc
Great info, is there a good website to find out what damage has been done to a repaired car? Looking at a buying a cat S repaired and the vendor is a bit vague on what repairs have been done. Thanks Will
I used www.vcheck.uk before. But if you are looking at lots on Copart etc I suggest install www.auctionhunter.io which gives free lot history. Car from the video would be avoided if browsed with this chrome tool.
I think it's strange that it's been 'bodged' up to maximise a profit but has ended up back through 'the block'? Perhaps there's been some paperwork issues with it? Usually these 'quick flip rebuilds' end up on 'scumtree' or Facebook market place?
Least wasn't alot of money I bought a car at petervardy engine blew up after a week 6 weeks later still haven't told me what going to happen with a refund or new engine oh it was a bmw btw not what they use to be
Next question lol ive heard u need to notify your insurance when u buy a cat n can u do i video or tell me how it affects putting it on road insurance what u need to do after u fix it etc cheers mate
@@sruk What's the story about having to put a new MOT on a car before it can be put back on the road ? An old work colleague of mine used to say the same thing, but why would you bother ? Assuming the car already has an MOT, it is valid until it's expiry date, and as far as I know, cannot be cancelled or withdrawn, or at least, I'm not aware of any legislation that says it can be. If you've got any info about this, I''d appreciate hearing it :)
I have been dealing with copart for about 8 years now, Rule No. 1 - Do not buy CAT U cars Rule No 2 - Only buy insuarance cars. Rule No 3 - Do an MOT check before buying.
I think this is the RU-vid effect, I did not know about Copart until loads of people uploaded cheap wins on the site, now everyone is buying anything to score a cheap car that in reality is not cheap. Copart win, people fail.
hi mate, you mention typing in the chassis number of a car in google to check if its been hit etc...do you mean doing a hpi check or simply googling it will bring it up...what if the car is unrecorded? can you clarify this please as im keen to know. i read somewhere online that a company called vcheck brings up details of salvage listings too? look forward to your reply
I heard they register them abroad and then bring them back to the UK after a year so a new reg is issued and the write-off becomes unrecorded. Anyone know how true this is?
My mates buy future taxis from copart and cars for parts ,then swap the wank parts into the salvage and put them back in ... 9/10 they get free or really cheap parts and some git buys a smashed up car that's fucked mechanically
you say put the chassis number into google, do you mean run an hpi check or something else? Sorry just starting out and appreciate your heads up video.
I know a couple of guys who used to tug cars and straighten them up a bit , put panels and spray them and then re enter in Salvage Auction , especially american cars that have come from US forces , but hadnt been recorded ... for a " BIG " salvage yard in Essex .... The cars were excessively damaged and past repair but made to look good for auction or export !!!!
