Nine people were injured, including two children, when a man opened fire on a splash pad in Oakland County on Saturday. READ: www.clickondetroit.com/news/l...
Does no good for family to "report mental health incidents", with the current laws being what they are. Aka - it's not legal to force treatment on anyone who doesnt want it. This effectively ties the hands of anyone attempting to seek intervention, in the case of an uncooperative, mentally/emotionally unstable person. Caring family would also be further discouraged from seeking intervention, in light of how many people going thru mental health crisis, are simply being gunned down by police, when the call is made to them for intervention - they obviously dont have the training or tools to deal with mental health emergencies, in a non-lethal manner. Most especially in the case of a family member who is unstable, and toting a gun or other weapon! You know once a weapon is pulled, police are going to shoot now, & ask questions later. Even when they KNOW mental health is an issue, & have been well informed of those details. Family is then put in a position of being forced to choose between the life of a family member, & the potential safety of others in the community. And some people just arent able or willing to choose the safety of the community, over a beloved family member, even tho that might be the "right" choice. The fact that the family has admitted they were aware there was a mental health issue, makes me think they fully recognized the problem, & therefore probably had tried to reach out for help, at some point, but were denied it, for the above-mentioned reasons. Aside from that, I also wonder if race-based motives were involved in this shooting? Was this perhaps a hate crime?
They could have had him Baker Acted and at least created the opportunity to have his gun confiscated. I doubt they will feel any responsibility for those deaths and the injured though. The victims my feel otherwise and seek a remedy in civil court.
@@julesmisty didn’t say that I’m saying that is why we have the 2nd amendment if someone was carrying they could have shot the shooter before it got that bad I’m saying because police only show up when the shooter is done don’t be stupid
A guy? Why no description? Something seems off. People ĥad right to know what shooter looked like. People described him, but police DIDN'T release it putting community in danger.
@phasematerialsresearch9319 he killed himself AFTER police cornered him not right after he did shooting. Police told everyone to stay away but there was no description.
It was already reported - you could have googled it. Michael William Nash, 42, is alleged to have unleashed 28 rounds on families, including children. He was previously described by authorities as a white man who lived with his mother. He has no criminal history, according to Bouchard, and was believed to have had mental health challenges.
Have many racist acts throughout this country have never been reported? How many people have died due to some racist coward in the US? Screw your Detroit narrative. You're telling on yourself.
@@alansimmons9744 And as everyone with a brain knows, when it comes to once race of people attacking another race of people there is one race that does it _far_ more than any other race does despite the fact that, thank God, they are only 13% of the population.
I have to agree I no longer have my dad or mom but I’m thankful they knew how much I loved them and they me. Love your family tell them often ❤ 😢 for the families fathers 🙏🏼 for every single one to make it through!!!!
Those who witnessed his demise. I pray for them. Call in the trauma informed counselors. The fools need wise counsel..this is just more of what a society without a moral compass produces. Dang sheriff..we gettin too old for these shenanigans.
Has anyone read/listened to the song: 'God We Need You Now' by Struggle Jennings & Caitlynne Curtis? You may want to do so to help see through the fog... God Bless Humanity💜🙏
He is still alive trying to capture him and already calling mental health issues so you know what that means never once called his race out loud but was quick to call out about the white female who was shot maybe he will be taking to dinner🎉
What are you talking about?? This guy's family didn't do squat, knowing he was pacing while holding a weapon. Mental health issues start at home, period. Environment either causes or perpetuates. Of course we need privacy acts. Two different things.
Privacy ACT and privacy laws are two different things. Privacy ACT is supposed to protect individual's data. Privacy laws are legal hurdles that have the potential to insulate criminals and prevent law enforcement AKA public safety officers per this Sheriff and/or family or healthcare professionals from acting in the best interest of public safety and public health. Do we know who this man was? He was 42 years old living with his mom. Was she ill? Was he her caretaker? Was he an only child? The family dynamic is huge! And so far we know so very very little specifics. Drips and drabs. He obviously owned at least one gun, the one he left at the scene of his human hunting trip! When did he buy it? We just watched a trial of a President's son where the document to obtain a gun was illegally filled out. THE HONOR system in the USA needs to be scrubbed. There must be methods in place to verify what someone claims to prevent harm. We live in a cyber age where verification can take moments not days/weeks/months. We don't have to wait for documents to travel snail mail from point A to point B. We need to harness the opportunity we have to make our communities safer.
