It really is nice to shoot as well. I primarily shoot compound so this was my first adventure into horse bows. So far I'm really enjoying it :) Great channel by the way :) Just subbed and watched a few of your videos. Love the Instant Legolas! It's a shame Crossbows are so hard to get. Jorges auto crossbows are awesome!

I think you had it strung upside down 🤔

Sure did! But i realized as soon as I had another look. You can tell the second you try to knock an arrow. I just put a small red cotton wrap on the top end now to tell the difference.

@@ProcrastinatingWoodsman its a very easy thing to do with these kind of bows isnt it, especially when you have that new bow excitement thrill pulsing through your veins 😊👍. I hope the bow is still providing you with fun 😊🙏👍.

@@davewebster6945 You nailed it! This is was my first horse bow as well after shooting Compound for 10+ years so i was pretty damn excited! It's actually proven to be a really great beginner bow as well. i've easily shot a few thousand arrows out of it now without a hitch. I'm certainly ready to go up in poundage a little more. I think 45lbs would be ideal for me long term. but 35lbs is a lot of fun to practice with.

@@ProcrastinatingWoodsman I bought a 40lb Freddie archery KTB to learn thumb draw, ive shot it just about everyday since I got it. Thumb draw was soo weird to start off with but ive got the hang of it now except I cant for the life of me do Khatra or be reliably accurate with it, I cant figure out what spine is right, ive got 500 spine and 400 spine, 500 are fast but clatter the riser, 400s are slowand still clatter the riser, ive worn through to the wood in the riser and also im wearingbdown a flat on the side of the arrows where they hit the riser too 😑. Im not giving up with it though 😄. The bow has also developed negative tiller now too so im thinking of getting something different maybe a turkish bow or a Tatar bow 🤔. Also today I took.out my Black Hunter take down for few shots and found that ive shot thumb release continuously for so long I found it totally illogical trying to shoot mediterranean draw 😑 so I put it away again 😁.

@@davewebster6945 That's pretty interesting. I haven't shot much thumb yet as I haven't for the life of me found a good thumb ring. I need to actually look again though. I gave up.. Arrow spine is quite a tough one sometimes. Have you thought about adjusting the length of the shafts at all? I know that can make quite a big difference sometimes. I'm also shooting 500s with mine without any issue. It's totally crazy to see you wearing out a flat spot on the arrows as well! I'd get a new wrap or something on the bow to slow down wear and tear. But like you said it might be time for an upgrade as well. How do you find the Black Hunter? I was actually looking at getting one semi recently but couldn't find any around for a decent price.

@ramonPaellah I'm not sure what you're full comment was RU-vid has hidden it or something.

lol, weird. I thanked you for the video and asked if you knew if the marked draw weight was measured korean style (at 30") or western style (at 28"). Also the finished is matte, right ? Cheers.

@@ramonpaellah6233 I'm not 100% on the draw to be honest. The only thing i can go by is that my arrows are 28" and my draw is maxed out by arrow length. So i can't draw back any further than 28" without the arrow tips touching the bow. I probably would have got 30" arrows but I was going off my compound draw of 28.5 (didn't factor in a release aid) It's matt black both sides and the grip is really nice which surprised me. I picked 35lbs to master the technique and shoot for longer periods, plus my girlfriend can use it as well. If you already know what you're doing and have the strength I'd probably go a 40+lbs for a bit more punch. I'm going to take it out on the weekend and spend a good bit of time shooting it. Hopefully I'll get a little video up as well. This is my first horse bow and I'm shooting fingers until I get a thumb ring. I've only shot maybe 20 arrows or so, so far but it's quite smooth for what I'd say is a entry level bow. I'll let you know how it goes :) If you don't hear back by next week i forgot.... So remind me! ahahahah

@@ProcrastinatingWoodsman Thank you for your answer and sorry to not reply earlier. I actually shoot thumb ring with a korean bow for a couple years, looking to buy a new one in 53". Thing is that bow is a rebrand, cheaper that some equivalent by same manufacturer. The manufacturer notes the poundage at 30" but in some case, for the western market it's noted at 28". I shoot between 31" and 33" depending on techniques. So a at 33" there is a big poundage difference between a 35"@28" and a 40@30" bow (10lbs maybe) . Hope it makes sense to you now why i'm asking about the marking. Well have fun, korean bows are fun bows. If i may suggest one thing : That poundage is already a whole lot to learn thumb shooting which is tricky at first. I'd go for a training low poundage bow like the snake, then come back to the korean bow.

@@ramonpaellah6233 Good advice! I didn't realise the poundage and draw would be so different. It's frustrating when things end up like that. I'm not to fussy as this is my first horse bow so I'm just getting used to it all. I tried shooting thumb for a while which was quite good but it wears my finger out pretty fast without a thumb ring. When i find a nice fitting one I will switch back to thumb as it feels fast and smooth. I'm pretty happy with the weight and draw at the moment but i think a 40# would be my perfect weight down the track. My next job is building a target in the coming weeks. I've got the gear ready to go just need to get the spare time one weekend. I'm naturally left-handed and even had fun shooting right handed after my arm got tired! All the best! Let me know what bow you settle on down the track, I'm curious!

Great i shot a few hundred arrows just yesterday and it's as good as the day i first used it. I've probably shot a few thousand arrows so far without any issue. The only thing I would do differently is get a 40 or 45 pound one next time. But other than that no issues. 35# was a good weight for a first horse bow though.

@@ProcrastinatingWoodsman ya i might get one. I got a Hungarian one last year. 45lbs. Was honestly a bit too heavy to get the technique right but eventually ive gotten there. If i was back again id have gotten a 40lb one. Im going to try learn speed shooting and i think your bow would be great for that
@ProcrastinatingWoodsman
@ProcrastinatingWoodsman Год назад
@@toomuch9762 40lbs would be perfect for speed shooting. I'm practicing the exact same thing at the moment. Just at 10m because I busted a few arrows when i got cocky and moved back to 20m doing it. I find the hardest part isn't aiming but grabbing and nocking the arrow. Quick aiming is actually the easiest part! I love Hungarian horsebows as well There's so many amazing bows to choose from it's hard to make a choice. I picked this one because it was actually made in Korea and was a pretty good price for my first horse bow. I normally shoot compound.
