I bet the relief that sheep felt after being sheared was amazing. I can't imagine wearing all that wool in warm weather- it has to be miserable. Awesome job!
Oh my goodness Katie. I'm so impressed in how you were able to move her around. She has to feel so much better. Just take care of your back hon. I worry about you.
Other sheep shearers seem to make the animal(s) nervous. You are so wonderful to watch because the critters seem so happy that you're so sweet and careful with them.
You’d be surprised how cooperative sheep can be when it comes to getting sheared, especially if they’ve done it before. They absolutely love getting that excess weight off them
Going in blind is an understatement ! You provide a talented and respectful encounter with sheep so in need . Bless You child... your work brings relief to so many needy ... and you are a Genius in your vocation.
So nice and gentle that's a lucky sheep under there. I understand about not wanting second cuts in the wool, but I don't really understand about once the wool is off and collected, why don't they go back and clean up the ridges on the sheep then if they are concerned about the general look of the sheep. I know it's another 4 or 6 minute sheer, but between missing the last year's sheer and having an overweight sheep they know this will be an extra long task from the start...don't they charge a little extra anyway, or at least expect to spend some extra time, right? Maybe make up the difference on RU-vid? (Not joking but serious....) And that large bag of mats, dirt and oil she mentions...does that get used as wool or whatever or is it too matted and discarded? Just curious... hope she addresses sometime. Love these sheep, sheers and shorts.
THIS LADY DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB SHEERING SHEEP. I'VE NEVER EVER SEEN ANYONE DO A FINER JOB THAN HER. SHE'S FAST, GENTLE AND SHE PAYS ATTENTION TO DETAIL. THE BEST EVER! HER LINES ARE PERFECT TOO. ❤❤❤
I subscribe to your channel because I enjoy listening to your creative and hilarious narratives. If only these sheep, Lllamas, and animals in between could understand how you describe each of them, there would be chaotic fun.😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂
People don't realize how dangerous an overgrown fleece can be. I was at a croft in Sutherland Scotland and if the sheep fell over they couldn't get up. They'd BAAAA and the sheepdogs would push then til they were upright. They were thanked with a "baa baa."
"This lint-covered meatball is a sheep. She's never missed a meal but she missed last year's shearing." Hilarious, just hilarious. I love your brilliant and extremely humorous narration. ❤❤❤❤
There’s a phenomenon on the internet where people love to watch carpets be cleaned, pets to be groomed, and here, I guess, sheep be sheered. Yes, you’re not weird.
It's really great to see the Love and appreciation you and those who do this work have for the sheep, they are such beautiful and valuable animals who I don't think most of us realize how important they are
I am forever grateful you care about the nicks. A few years ago I was driving on a Mack road and saw a flock of sheep that had just been shorn. I could tell cause there was blood all over the majority of them. It broke my heart for them.
When I was little, I watched a family friend shear his sheep for like 5 minutes. Between the damage from the clipper and the DISGUSTING wounds with maggots pouring out, I was DONE. (I know maggots are fairly common but... nope!)
@@Serene80 maggots only come from infection that been neglected. He should have treated them as all their hides will be covered with holes. Thus reducing the profit for those sheep,
I hope her humans start reducing her hard feed a little at a time. She will live a much more comfortable and happy life. I know from experience, that spoiling your babies is all we want to do, but obesity she is going to have a shorter life. She's a beautiful girl ❤️❤️
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the hoof GP it’s that it doesn’t need to be pretty, the only thing that matters to both the animal and the farmer, rancher, dairymen etc is that no matter what you do to an animal, whether it’s taking care of their hooves or shearing their fleece functionality takes priority over looks every time
I never get over how much you care for the animals. Remarking on how the weight of the fleece was pulling on her skin, keeping her in a good position while you sheer, and going for efficacy over looks. The thoughtfulness radiates out of you at all times. 🤩
IF you really have broken dreams, that LEAVES you free to make new life plans. Take more small vacations. Learn to swing dance or some other style. . Take a COOKING class. Volunteer to walk dogs at the shelter.. go to a New to You.section of the library, such as Russian poetry, try a different coffee shop and strike up a conversation buy a good coloring book and good pencils, and do that while listening to your favorite music. Give the comp leted pictures to a head start school. As paul Simon said," Make a new plan Stan". ( But it's not about leaving your lover, for you. Its about enjoying your life by yourself, until it changes again! ) Best WISHES!!

That poor girl I hope she’s gonna get treated better from now on… idk her situation but I can’t imagine a good owner letting their sheep get obese AND overgrown…
Well, obesity is often a side effect of not shearing sheep. They get too hot if they move too much, especially during the summer, so they move as little as possible. That in turn decreases the tone of muscle which lowers baseline metabolism which means more extra calories go to fat rather than straight to their body's use. Then the more fat they have the more likely to overheat they will be. Essentially not shearing ends up becoming a vicious cycle that eventually ends up with a dead sheep if not corrected, either from overheating or from the various health issues that eventually will happen from the obesity. Just shear the sheep, they are much healthier that way...
@@SilverScaleMA not to mention if you have a large flock, I'm sure it's easy to overlook one or not notice if they get a little chunky, given all the other crap you are constantly busy with keeping a farm and living life in general.
Someone said the Creator said the farmer has COVID during shearing season last year. If you don't know the situation like you claim, I feel like you shouldn't be putting out negative thoughts in the first place. You're going to influence others thoughts and judgements just by adding it in, whether or not you put a "disclaimer" in the front. Just a thought. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm just sharing what it seems to be like from someone reading this on the outside.
@@ElysetheEevee I mean, COVID or not that sheep was still suffering... Or at least in discomfort. It's not fair to just say "well the owner was sick so they neglected their herd, what we gonna do 'bout it". I think raising awareness to the dangers of obesity and overgrowth will instead lead to trying to find more solutions to help alleviate that pain. If I'm sick and i can't take care of my animals, I'm gonna ask people to help you know? I doubt that a professional will look at that poor sheep and go "no money no sheering, let's just watch that sheep suffer because you can't afford to get help". And if they did then I just lost a bit of hope in humanity...
Thank goodness you came in contact with her Katie. Poor sheep! She can’t help it but you can help her. I appreciate all the work of shearing you and your wife does. Thx for sharing!! 🐑❤️❤️
Poor baby 🥺 thank you for helping her ❤ what you do isn’t easy by any means and you did an amazing job on her especially considering her size. I know she’s forever grateful for this too 😊
I love how she's just so chunky that it makes her chill cuz it's just not worth the energy to wiggle. She probably is just thinking "please, just get this crap off me."
Wow! Katie, I’m not sure who I want to say “Bless your heart” for. You for tackling that fleece or the sheep for carrying that load- I’ll say it for both of you lol
