@Oof Anakin’s only father figure was mace who barely did anything for him so even if obi wan was like a big brother he had no one like a father so that leaves obi wan
Nothing will ever beat this Dooku: Control your apprentice's insolence, I'm trying to concentrate. Obi-wan smirking: Anakin, control your insolence. The Count is concentrating.
That whole arc has such great banter. Obi-wan: “Hurry it up, Dooku” Anakin: “You should be more patient, master. After all, the count is an elderly gentleman and he doesn’t move like he used to” Dooku: “I would kill you both right now if I did not have to drag your bodies”
You missed the best part: When Anakin jumps out of a speeder, Obi-Wan looks over and casually remarks: “I hate it when he does that.“ With no concern whatsoever.
Anakin: "No loose wire jokes." Obi Wan: "Did I say anything??" Anakin: "He's trying." Obi Wan: "I didn't saying anything!" I flippin' love these two so much.
Other people said "I have a bad feeling about this" before and after he did in the Star Wars saga. I think Han Solo said it in New Hope, and it was in every Star Wars movie until Jyn cut K-2SO off in Rogue One.
@@eric_moore-6126 interesting, I’m currently bingeing Star Wars stuff and it’s been years, but either way, in the terms of Obe Wan Ewan nailed it as he fell back he quickly said “I have a bad feeling about this”
The same thing happened in ROTS when Anakin wanted to save Obi-Wan after Palpatine told Anakin to leave him. He said, "His fate will be the same as ours" and funny enough Obi-Wan dies on the first death star, Anakin dies on the second death star, and Palpatine also dies on the second death star.
It’s technically the truth that Vader killed Anakin. Vader being his “dark side” and Anakin being the light and balance. Vader destroyed and murdered Anakin, even used him one could say. So Obi-Wan is telling the truth from a certain perspective.
I love that whole scene, right down to Anakin being the one suggesting patience. Before the Clone Wars show, THIS SCENE right here was the legendary friendship we'd always been hearing about between Obi Wan and Anakin.
For real. I had my doubts when I first watched the prequels, but I was immediately won over. Ewan McGregor was really passionate about the role and capturing the most iconic aspects of Alec Guinness's performance, and it shows.
Technically the whole "British accent" thing in Star Wars, is actually just Coruscanti. Obi-Wan wasn't born on Coruscant, but he picked up the accent having lived there for so long.
@@nihluxler1890 Yeah, actually you're right. Because many of the core worlds do tend to support the Republic/Empire and are aligned culturally with Coruscant.

"Well R2 has been known to-" "No loose wire jokes" "Did I say anything?" "He's trying." " *I didn't say anything.* " We are reaching sass levels that shouldn't even be possible.
In the prequel trilogy, Obi-Wan was a man beyond his years. Even in the original trilogy, he still had the same sass. You could argue that he didn’t grow with his wise cracks but he was still as right as ever. Ewan McGregor lived up to Alec Guinness’ portrayal of Obi-Wan and then some.

@@englishlady9797 Yes, Dooku is very smart. But not on Thrawn's level. I'd put Sidious and Plageius a bit ahead of him as well. Kenobi is snart too, but I think Dooku is a bit above him. Yoda is wiser, but Dooku and Kenobi might be smarter than him. Boba and Jango are also very smart. And super tactical droids. Vader is very intelligent, Anakin is but constantly makes stupid impulsive and emotional decisions that limit his intellectual potential. I think Dooku is a bit smarter than Vader but, Vader is a better field commander while Dooku is a better politician. Maul is also very intelligent, close to Vader and Dooku. Now the inquisitors and 3d Grievous are stupid. Most jedi are stupid. They may be book smart but they lack common practical sense. Most mandos are also stupid. Cad Bane, Darth Bane, Qui Gon, Revan, Kreia, and even old grumpy Vrook were all very intelligent. Cin Drallig is definitely sharp too and Uthar Most One Sith from star wars legacy are stupid. Except Nihl and Maladi. Most sith from every timeline are stupid. Tavion is stupid from Jedi Academy but Desann and Alora are fairly intelligent. Jerec was very intelligent and Katarn had slightly above average intelligence plus lots of luck and skill.
@syed jawad Fair enough. I was informed that in TCW the Battle of Christophsis was a month after Genosis. I always thought it was a year after. Since its.never.been said in a show, I think it can be retconed. I think a year makes the most sense to me.
I'm pretty sure Obi-Wan was being sassy in the original trilogy too. Like: "Hello there" (from episode IV) "Well of course I know him, he's me" "You don't need to see his identification" "What I told you was true, from a certain point of view"
And let's not forget this legendary exchange: Han: "Damn fool, I _knew_ you were going to say that." Obi-Wan: "Who's more foolish; the fool, or the fool who follows him?"
- Of course I know him, he's me! - Thats your uncle talkin... - You don't need to see his idetifications [...] the Force can have a strong influence over the week minded. -Should I have? (Heard of the Millenium Falcon) - Only passengers. Myself, the boy, two droids, and no questions asked. - If the ship's as fast as he's boasting, we ought to do well. - In my experience, there's no such thing as "luck" - Who's more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him? - Was true... from a certain point of view.
@@zacmumblethunder7466 All the interactions between Han and Obi-Wan, however brief, are criminally underrated. Obi-Wan was supposed to just be this ignorant hermit Han overcharged for a ride, not the one who ends up calling all the shots when they get in trouble.
@@keelhaulsthingsthatdontmatter It's often said that it's a script error when Han says the Falcon made the Kessel run in under 12 parsecs, a measurement of distance, not time. Whether it's a mistake or not, I've always taken it as a sign of who the actual brains of the duo is, and the look Ben gives Han at that point seems to say "You really don't have a clue what you're talking about".
@@zacmumblethunder7466 although, one can make the argument that Solo's boast still holds up. He DID shorten the distance by traveling through the maelstrom. Only reason the parsecs were that long: because of location inside a spatial destructive forcr- pun intended.
@@ajdominguez1002 not to mention there is a large dangerous asteroid field that most freighters avoid when heading to kessel. I don't remember where I saw it but someone did a video explaining that.
Lucas seemed intent on just getting through the dialogue scenes and having the actors deliver their lines and get it over with. When you let actors be creative and have fun with their roles, you get scenes like this.
I think the clone wars show is so great because it took the vibes of revenge of the sith and expanded on it. Its just kinda unfortunate that it took until ROTS for the prequels to feel somewhat coherent lol.
Obi Wan is easily the most entertaining character of the prequels 😂 I love his wits and comebacks, the Clone Wars leans into it fully and the dynamic him and Anakin have throughout the show is definitely one of the highlights
What's most ironic imo is that after he loses his mother to death and vows to save his wife from death, he instead ends up killing his wife and older brother/father figure personally (even if indirectly)
I always laughed when I first watched AOTC for the bit you are supposed to laugh at, “Then we decided to come and rescue you” “… Good job!” But think about how low key Obi-Wans sass is here, “I was beginning to think you hadn’t got my message”. He knows Anakin shouldn’t be here at all. He would have either rebroadcast the message to the council and been told to stay where he is, or knows that Anakin should have seen sense and stayed where he was without being told. But he knows Anakin. He knows that he cares for Obi Wan, and he knows he’s reckless. *He’s surprised he didn’t show up sooner*
He's my favoriten but he should have prevented Anakin from being tempted of going to the dark side. All Anakin wanted is someone to take him seriously, and even if Obi Wan did take him seriously, he made him feel like a child. That's what Palpatine used to lure him. Obi Wan does have responsibility in losing Anakin.
Ben Kenobi had some good lines: Han: You've never heard of the Millennium Falcon? Kenobi: Should I have? Kenobi: The Jutland Wastes are not to be traveled lightly Kenobi: Well of course I know him, he's me.
I love how he says "WE are still flying half a ship" in that scene in ROTS when he is literally *not doing a thing* not even pushing a button, and its Anakin actually doing all the work.
“Wait a minute, how did happen? We’re smarter than this.” I haven’t properly watched the prequels yet because I’ve only heard bad things, but clearly I must. Obi is awesome
Anakin: "You fell into that nightmare, Master. And I rescued you, remember?" Obi-Wan: *(In the most condescending "whatever you say dear" voice ever)* "Oh. Yes." Also Obi-Wan: *giggles like a trolling little shit because that's not at all how it went down*
The exchange at 0:20 just sends me😂 Obi-Wan being confident and then Anakin with a very insulting retort that catches Obi-Wan completely off guard to which he replies with a coy "POSSIBLY"🤣
My favourite one is still from TCW: Anakin - “Why do you even ask for my opinion, you never do things my way” Obi-Wan - “We crashed the ship your way” Anakin - “Very funny, I see your sense of humour survived the landing”
