If one of your audio sources has out of sync audio you can try turning on drift correct for that device in the multi output device.

Hey, I'm in the same boat. Were you ever able to figure out how to get OBS to register your focusrite?

@@charlieengelman8488 I'm using a Presonus Mixer that has a USB interface to my Mac. My Scarlet functions the same way. I had to choose the Presonus as the 1st Mic input instead of the second. OBS now registers the audio, but only the first two channels. Frustrating.

Pretty sure you have to allow it to run in system preferences.

under the "general" setting in security and privacy window of system preferences, click the allow button on the bottom right

Im happy it helped. Funny enough I actually made the first Soundflower video like a month or two before it stopped working correctly on all machines. So I made this after I found a work around.

I had the same problem. It might be blocked. Go to "system preferences". Then go to "Privacy and Security", click the lock in the bottom left-hand corner, type in your password, and there should be a spot at the bottom of the page saying system software was blocked. Click "details" next to it and then allow IshowU to be downloaded. You should see it pop up on your audio devices!

I got this to work. I eventually worked out there was a block in my Security & Privacy settings that I was able to unblock.

Not much I can suggest. There might be some other people who use that Driver for the program it was intended that have a similar issue. You could probably google it and see if there is a solution sitting on a forum someplace.

@@ChupacabraTutorials It was similar to a previous comment. In High Sierra or higher the extension is blocked, so you have to manually unblock it in the Security and Privacy settings. I was just looking in the wrong tab. It is in the "General" tab where I was looking in the "Privacy" tab.

download the syphon inject software separately if you can’t click it. might need to move the download to your desktop and right click to “open with installer” in order to get the syphon inject to actually install.

You guessed it. Your stream bitrate it too high. Bump it back down to 3000 - 3500. You can only go above the basic stream speed of 3500 if you're a partnered twitch streamer. Im not sure about the limits for other platforms. Each one should have a FAQ section that lays out the upload limits. Otherwise you overwhelm the processing server and end up with stutter.

Your macbook has automatically blocked the drive from showing up. Go to system preferences then security. Click on general and then press on "Allow" near the bottom of the window. This will allow iShow U Audio to appear in your Audio MIDI Setup window ☺️

Honestly I thought obs would have fixed this year's ago

To change device volume with this setup you'd need to select them in the Mac settings window. Then once you change it set it back to the recording setup

What changes did you change in System Preferences? I can't get it to work

Jose Emilio Orozco Once you’ve set up your iShowU audio channel in Audio MIDI Setup (2:40), you need to check it’s THAT channel which is set up in System Preferences. I rename my setups in MIDI to what they do exactly so I know which one to select in System Preferences. Once that is done, you can set up the audio channel in OBS and add it to the Instance. Hope this helps.

I wonder what will happen once Soundflower quits working for most people. Maybe OBS will finally build their own driver by that point. That or people will just copy this tutorial. Who knows.

Also, my audio is all of a sudden cutting in and out on my headphone mic and my blue snowball, but people who are talking to me on Skype or discord don't hear it. Any idea what could be wrong?

Try clicking on the Drift correction in the MIDI setup. See if that helps.

Hmmm. That statement kind of fits the whole capturing audio being weird and janky on Mac pretty well actually. Macs have weird audio. Some of it gets delivered directly to your headphones and bypass what passes for "Desktop Audio" which is why OBS cant seem to capture it all out of the box. So you need some kind of hefty audio driver in order to record it all. In this case it used to be Soundflower. A handy little free program that was formerly in use by far too many companies for far too much paid software. Soundflower the program was a free tool created by a student. Who needed something to capture audio on their system and route it around for a project. It ended up being so useful that they shared it online and continued to develop it. It was good at what it did, and people used it left and right. Then somewhere along the line Apple decided to do some slight tweaks to the OSX operating system. Breaking some of Soundflowers core ability to do its job. The student of course who was creating this tool for free got tired of it after a while. Handed it over to some other devs. But it was never quite the same. Then people started to have to create their own drivers suddenly and iShowU appears as a decent go between to fix the issue. Havent actually had a reason to check in years. What does OBS recommend you use to capture your audio these days? Clearly its still not ideal if you're here. Otherwise cheers. Glad the tutorial helped.

nope I've tried every trick that I know to listen in on the live call but the headphone jake gets turned off when you select "Multipl-Output Device" I'm out of luck. It's time to divorce my 10 year old Mac and get a PC puter.

★I GOT IT ★ - For a second there I thought I was out of luck but now I'm able to monitor inbound calls with Google Voice. That's right! I now have a live stream call in show with a 2009 iMac computer. GET SUM! I'm stoked.

Game capture captures the game directly. Detecting the code used to display games. Though sometimes you have to manually use syphon inject. Window capture just grabs your display. Which takes more resources and can lag your computer more.

There might be a setting for that in the audio or advanced tabs. Typically offset from your mic means something is lagging.

Other than my recommendations in this video I can't suggest much. Your machine is already spending its resources to mirror the screen on your devices. Which is why the video is looking a bit choppy. My suggestion would be to buy a capture card. It will record things more reliably and for no resource draw on your system.

Glad this worked out. It was a work around since Sound Flower doesn't get updated anymore. So its got some hiccups.

Not much I can see beyond this tutorial. This really is just a work around that makes standard run of the mill mics and headsets behave with OBS. If you're using fancier stuff than that.... Not much I can suggest.

If it shows up as a usable device in your input/output settings. In theory it should work. But this is a janky work around at best.

It really depends on what device and or software you're using. Having never used a daw with my mac I have zero idea. Whats happening with most people that use OBS to stream is they want game sounds. Which normally on windows would be desktop audio. On mac not quite as much, it delivers directly to your headset. Rather than go through a desktop audio. So with iShowU Audio capture. Its attempting to just act as an extra layer recording everything on your system that would get heard by your headphones. Then you can use it to steal from and record with OBS. The Multi output devices and everything are just to ensure a copy of that sound directed to your headphones. Like a splitter. Since your sounds are all coming from one external device. You might see if you can mix both of them into once sound source with an aggregate device in the midi manager and seeing if that gets picked up by either iShowU or OBS in general once they are added to a nice sound device you've created. You're going to just have to experiment and see if anyone else has some notes about how to stream sound from a DAW with OBS or a similar software.

In system preferences you might need to swap around iShowU audio for the Multi Output device for your Default output device.

When I talk about output in this older tutorial. Keep in mind my microphone had an output for a headphone jack on the bottom. Which is why it gets used for both. So however you wanna hook your Logic Pro X into it from there is up to you.

Just don't setup your mic or just mute it on the front OBS dashboard where you set up your recording scenes.

Big sur has more permission protections than past versions of mac osx. You may need to whitelist it in settings under security.
