It's not ahead of his time if this was right after WW2, the Soviet Union and the STASI were around and book burnings were committed by pretty much everyone. I am 6 years late but he clearly states this is not something new or visionary, just a representation of what has already come.

Edward Rodman Serling, a man who not only fought to protect our country way of life in WWII, and took a fair amount of injury for it. But also fought censors twice as hard to make sure his vision was seen and heard, by all on this earth...
You look into a comment section of a video, on a website that can only exist in its own space. In it, you see people appreciating a speech done by a man who know exactly what he was talking about; however, much like the episode of the old television series that said speech came from, you see hatred for things that people don't fully understand. The names of presidents come up next to the names of terrorists, and they're both put in the same category as Satan. One man even says that a certain president is a Fascist, and that the president is obsolete. You question if these people are just looking to rattle cages, or if they truly feel this way, but at the same time you know it doesn't matter. To you, hatred itself is obsolete, to you the names of presidents are pointless to talk about when there's only hate behind the voice, no matter who the president is. With that, you finish the comment you're writing yourself, stating that no man is truly obsolete unless they follow blind hatred, much like a certain man, from a certain episode, of a certain show call The Twilight Zone.
i started watching twilight zone because of my 11th grade english teacher. And he's got it right, this is good stuff. great brain work, coupled with short and sweet lifelong lessons about life and who we are. Its perfect.

God I miss Rod Serling, You can tell he was heavily influenced by the likes of Mark Twain or George Orwell, such a beautifully poetic way of talking that immediately grabs the attention of those who are listening. Sadly gone.

What amazingly accurate, succinct and eloquent words Mr. Serling gave us. Key words: not a future that will be but a future that might be. He also gives us the two key concepts that *do* define every dictatorship: (i) logic is an enemy; and (ii) truth is a menace. May I humbly suggest that we all collectively wake up and smell the Java? The "future that might be" is seemingly uncomfortably close.
The only better ending to this Rod Serling saga is that he would say: one that would be, and not might be....welcome to 2021. I believe that Rod Serling was an optimist. He could not have known how prophetic, he might be. :(
@mikelowry5 You do know The Twilight Zone was with a political Just like Star Trek was, Both Rod Serling and Gene Roddenberry knew that they could not make a show about social issues and have set in reality they both had set in scifi for them to be able to make there show.
You can scroll into these comments forever, for its become easier and easier for man to become lost in his own locutions. You can watch hundreds of thousands of men and women toil away at fragments of literature that will likely never be seen by more than a few, desperately hoping for some form of validation to fill the void in their hearts. The fame and acceptance they so desperately crave drives them to greater and greater lengths, while the uncaring and randomized nature of the Algorithm sorts these comments and displays them to the strangers of the interweb. These viewers click icons to show their appreciation for the edicts, not because they truly value the commenters writing ability, but because it agrees with their preconceived notions and ideas, creating an echo-chamber so vast that one can hear the voices of millions of people reverberating on its walls; spewing the same stream of ideologies and statistics with no regard for discretion or disagreement. These people blind themselves to reality as it is, choosing instead to fortify their narrow beliefs into fortresses of ego; ready to blast apart the mere mention of opposing thought. These people are deep in a place where logical reason has been turned upsidedown, where 2+2=3, and the water flows upstream. These people, are in the Twilight Zone
But they can try. Bear a couple of things in mind about Rod: The (original) Twilight Zone was effectively the first Stateside network television show produced by a writer...that's the way he wanted it...and he was a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne, principally fighting on Leyte and in Manila.

Leo J no I haven't. The only Jim Carry I've seen is the one with the blue verification next to his name and had millions of followers. If it's not him and they don't have that blue verification then don't give them any info. I've known people who have got scammed by fake celebrity profiles on twitter. One girl thought she was in a relationship with a actor and sent him money. It was a fake profile. Be careful
