I really appreciate you mentioning the piece about not setting subscriber goals because it's not within your control. As a new RU-vidr, that's something that I never understood when I heard people talk about setting subscriber goals. It doesn't resonate with me to set goals around something you can't actually control. Appreciate you sharing!
You got me into every dollar! So I do that but in not a strict manner, it has helped me with my money relationship, and seeing how you budget your savings and allocate your goals helps so much. I love how transparent you are with your money relationship.
I feel like when I think I'm being "braggy", its really my insecurities telling me to tone it down and all of that was based on how society/my family tried to silence me in those moments. You deserve every right to be as confident in yourself especially in your milestones. You aren't bringing anyone down and just because you're winning and doing big things, it doesn't tear anyone down from their own wins and successes! Keep doing you!

Within the past year, I have started to congratulate myself on my successes, too! I also found it really hard to not sound braggy, so I started saying "I worked really hard on _____________, and I want to acknowledge that I accomplished this task!" honestly, if someone is watching your video, chances are we want to see you succeed too((: we want to celebrate your success with you, and it gives us hope that if you work hard towards something, results with follow!

Loved the thoughtfulness from this video! I definitely have been backing away from managing my money so strictly as well - as you said, every month is different! How do you indicate on your budget spreadsheet when something is bought using a sinking fund or savings rather than out of pocket?
So I would put it in income and then expense so it equals out. For example, if I used $200 from my car repairs sinking fund I'd put car repairs $200 in income then car repairs $200 in expenses to show that you used it & it equals out !
I love your outlook on your budget, I use to do a zero balance budget and strictly set a budget for different categories but find that while that use to work, it is a little to strict during this season in my life.
I am the same. I zero balance budgeted for almost 2 years and it was GREAT for getting a hold on my finances and see where my money was going when I first started out but it doesn't feel right for me anymore and feels abit too restrictive. Budgeting is great but you have to be willing to adapt and change like we do in other aspects of our life! Sometimes budget methods are only good for a certain season in life like you said!

Carter how about changing that goal of “working on being proud of yourself and not sounding Braggy “to working on being proud of your self comfortably out loud”. I say this because you never sound braggy your just super critical about how you praise your self based on what you think others may perceive about it . Be proud out loud girl and be unapologetically about it all that you achieve has been through your hard work none of us who follow you will ever think your braggy you deserve to be proud out loud girl. Hard work well done deserves praise and no one she praise you louder than you give your self all the flowers girl you deserve it 😊 sorry I got all preachy on you I just want you to know you aren’t braggy to me teaching folks to praise their own efforts is well needed I appreciate you for showing us this.
I used to have a general variable spending category but I always ended up over spending in something I.e. clothes, and had nothing left for other things I wanted to do throughout the month like eating out. Having separate categories helps me keep track of them better, put limits on myself and do all the things I want to do. I mostly do this for my “problem” categories where I know I go over easily.
Jer and I use the YNAB (you need a budget) app. It’s essentially like taking the envelop system and having it in a digital form. Our cc transactions show up on there, we approve and categorize them
Definitely feels this one about feeling like sharing your accomplishment can come off as bragging for me I had to work on my fear of judgment/criticism and being okay that I’m not responsible for someone feeling bad because I accomplished something. The only things I have control over are my actions and reactions. I had stop letting others minimize my feelings 😎
Oh my goodness this explains how I feel so much. I tend to not share accomplishments because I don't want anyone to feel bad by it but you're right, we can't let others minimize our feelings! We should all cheer each other on!
i have been using a 50/30/20 budget bc im just starting to get my finances in order but similar to you i have an idea of when i can spend and dont feel guilty if i go a little over in a category (or at least try not to be guilty)
I do like the weeklong trips but If I could only take one per year then I would trade it for doing 4 weekend trips about 1 per season to different locations in order to see more cities/states
Yep! But right now we have other priorities like debt to pay off! I also invest more than you guys see! I invest alot into my RSP and TFSA offline but don't feel Comfortable as I mentioned sharing those bigger numbers! But I typically do lump sum investments every quarter!

Can you explain again why you stopped including brand deal income? I understand that it’s in a different account but it is still income and I’m sure it’s a pretty big chunk.
It's only just a personal decision I've made. My monthly budget is my PERSONAL spending/income not my BUSINESS. So my Adsense you guys see in my budgets every month because I pay myself that (personally) but my brand deal income stays in my business bank account to pay off my business credit card and any tax write-offs and business expenses. Because I don't budget my business expenses for the most part and my subscriptions/write offs etc it doesn't make sense to include my brand deal income. Occasionally I will include like in this months video because I purchased my iMac on my personal credit card for points and not my business card but I don't make a habit of it. I hope this makes sense! But I do fill out a business budget every month I just don't share it publicly as I just enjoy sharing my "personal" budget. If I paid myself out EVERYTHING every month (Adsense + brand deals) then I'd include it in my budget like I used to but since it goes into the business account and stays there unless I make a big purchase, it doesn't make sense to include it since it's not going into savings/investments or being spent on any personal items.

I basically zero dollar budget, but I have about $300-$500 of “miscellaneous”. Quick includes clothes purchases, trips that come up, and anything else that wasn’t planned for. If we don’t spend it by the end of the month it goes towards loans or savings!
Weird I watched it on my end and it's not blurry!? Maybe your device? It also has to be in 1080 for it to come through clear! I find sometimes videos with a screen recording don't show well on your phone so best to watch on a tablet/computer or TV!
I think of money very similarity to calories. Sometimes macros and strict budgets give people space when they have money scarcity. Like I can learn to eat a brownie because it fits within my numbers. And I can spend on a new book when normally my money mindset is super strict if it’s allocated. But once you learn what that looks like, you no longer have to track either and can openly allow space for these things without such strict guidelines 🥰

I'm sorry that it bothers you, I do understand but it's partially who I am- a scatterbrained repetitive gal. I struggle with my short term memory & it is an issue for me from all my concussions... I know you didn't mean any harm from this and it was constructive criticism but it's just who I am and something I have to live with. I'm sorry that it bothers you.
