What makes so many of these themes so awesome is how fitting they become even as the circumstances change for some of the travelers. Ochette's coming-of-age journey becoming a mournful dirge for the friend that could have been. Castii's melancholic lack of identity belying a resolve to fulfill a selfless duty, even if it costs her everything. Osvald's grim march for revenge after losing everything becoming the determination to protect the little he has left. Temenos' shrewd investigation of what seems to be petty human vices revealing the true underlying horror. Unending props to Nishiki and the writers for their ability to weave the music and narrative together so seamlessly.
@icarue993 king Hikari looking for a world free from bloodshed to piercing through the heart of his greatest demon. Throne on a search for freedom as she realizes along the way the people who made her what she has become for both good and bad. Partitio.... literally accomplishing what he wanted straight up no bullshit outliers. Dude was pure 100%
@@icarue993There's also the addition of the "harder" instruments, particularly the growl of the guitar. Agnea's idealism, rather than buckling at the harsh realities of life, become _tempered,_ much like how a diamond is a result of unyielding heat and pressure.
@@ZeromortisimusThe fact that Partitio's theme is almost literally the same regardless is just pure. The man just wants to see the best in everything and everyone, and nothing is gonna take that away from him.
Not enough people are talking about temenos's theme. It suits his contemplative nature so perfectly and when it turns into "In Pursuit of Truth" you can really feel how resolute he is to end this. It prefectly encaptures the idea that the time for prolonged thought is over and that its time to fight for the truth. 😄
Osvald / Harvey Castti / Troussea Temenos / Arcanette Ochette / Petricor Partitio / Ori Agnea / Tanzy Throne / Claude Hikari / Oboro Even the antagonist that related to Moonshade Order spelled Octopath
Love seeing everyone’s favorites being so different! Really just proves how amazing the soundtrack is across all characters, each represented in their own unique way . Ochette and Hikari’s soundtracks are my personal favorites!!🥳🥳😭😍
A kind and religious man who at the same time is not blinded by faith to the point where even he questions the Gods themselves for not making sure everything is stable even during peace, and just also likes to genuinely fuck with people for the fun of it.... And beat the shit out of pedestrians mentally to get information out of them LMAO 😂
She's my favorite, bar none...And it's out of a lineup that is very hard to pick favorites from. The storytelling you can glean from the music alone, for everyone, is so good
NGL all the themes are great but when Castiis in pursuit of memories starts playing it hit hard. Just how she switched from being all nice and her mellow theme to coldly telling the boss they had to die and the music become aggressive. Just love that duality between her kind healer side and pragmatic warrior side.
The biggest crime is not making the Journey For themes actual full songs for the final boss (except Song of Hope of course). They're all too amazing to be just a snippet of a shared theme. Need extended versions of those asap!
Best story: 1 - Castti 2 - Throné 3 - Temenos Best normal themes: 1 - Ochette 2 - Partitio 3 - Throné Throné bar scene was amazing, very well done, i remember clapping alone in my room when i saw it... almost placed her in first, but Castti just hits you like a truck man... 😢
I still think it’s funny how the stories couldn’t decide on a target audience. Agnea: I’m gonna go on a big adventure to be a star, because I can do anything if I set my mind to it! Osvald: My best friend burned my family alive before my eyes, accused me of the crime, and sent me to rot for my remaining years in this inhumane asylum. My only goal is to escape and kill him.
@@blanqtt They all are in Octopath Traveler 2. The first game (aka Octopath Traveler) has a different set of 8 protagonists. Neither game has DLC, they're complete experiences!
Ask to your best friend which of the eight themes remember her/him your soul, my bf say Ochette Theme is the for me ❤ bcuz she say i am like a free and brave spirit with so many colors in my soul like ochette song, it make me cry a lot hear that
Throné's theme is literally just the ending from the song Last Night on Earth, by Murder By Death. It's either the greatest coincidence in music history, or Square's got some fans of folk rock lol. (For comparison: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h5d86IkjJGc.htmlsi=UrKviHUfev3uXcRm&t=245 )
I thought Osvalds was the weakest theme out of all the beautiful tracks in the game. Still good. Powerful even. But, I just didn’t feel it… until I SAW what Harvey did. What he actually did. Now my brain hears this theme and it registers entirely differently for me. It’s not just somber and passionate… it’s full of barely constrained rage.
I'm so glad to hear that! With the first Octopath Traveler, I heard some of the music before playing the game and that made me want to play It even more. It's nice to see other people experience the same with the sequel lol
Honestly, with the games we've had this year, much as I love OT2, it definitely doesn't claim GotY, but the fact it even receive a SINGLE nomination for ANY category, ESPECIALLY Soundtrack is a crime.
Definitely didn't deserve GOTY. Some of the storylines were very bland or just outright fukkin cheesy. But I agree it definitely should have gotten recognition for it's music at least
@@FragmentOfInfinity There's really only so much they could do with how short the stories were, and 'cheesy' isn't bad necessarily, but I agree, things could have been done better. But the fact there wasn't even a MENTION of it, is saddening nonetheless.
I know it's just a simple little thing, but how Castti's theme goes from her normal theme to In Pursuit of Memories like that just feels awesome to me.
I still can't decide if I prefer OT1 or OT2. These character themes are insane, but I remember certain OT1 themes so vividly and have so many memories regarding them and some even made it into OT2, so I really can't decide.
I'm obsessed with both. I'm more attached to the story's in one as they are masterfully done and suspenseful. Two however had sooooo much more voice acting that the characters feel Like Real People the way santa is real, in my mind they are real and exist
I love looking at the "Most watched" parts of this video. EVERYONE seems to agree that Journey for Kingship's End goes hard. Although my personal "Journey for" favorite ended up being Legends. Ochette's theme really shines in battle, and made her final Chapter THAT much more memorable. I don't think I hate a single track in this compilation, and that's super impressive considering how picky I am at times.
All themes ranked, #8-#1! 8) Castti - Pretty flat without much to grasp on to; second theme feels a bit formulaic. 7) Agnea - They tried to recreate the finale of Riverdance here, but came up short. The violin playing and pseudo-Irish singing is good, but it's really repetitive. 6) Ochette - Second section works wonderfully with the voices backing up the flute. 5) Temenos - Spooky detective music. Maybe a bit extra and too much Harry Potter in the second part, but overall hits the mark. 4) Hikari - The Legend of Hikari! Whether deliberate or no, the Hisaishi styling in this theme works well. 3) Throne - Unrelenting, with an incredible emotional swell. 2) Osvald - Incredible emotional journey. From lurking in the depths, to the stately procession, to the big emotional outpouring. Love the intensity of the battle theme. 1) Partitio - Undoubtedly the best. Perfectly encapsulates "I came, I saw, I conquered, and now I'm peacing out". Oh yeahhhhh inject it straight into my veins! Overall, not quite as strong as the 8 themes from Octopath I, but certainly an excellent collection that doesn't disappoint.
