Massing, the addition & removal of value. An approach to image making that avoids linear drawing & ‘filling’ in afterwards. It can b utilized with graphite, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, oil paint &……. even though the value cannot b ‘wiped’ away later, by using pigment over pigment to adjust value up or down, the philosophy of massing can even b executed through acrylic paint.
