Coming from someone who has undergone the laborious process of clearing acres of buckthorn from my woods over the winter, I understand the satisfaction of cleaning up the woods to allow new growth. Its good work that never ends.
Wow you sure have some tall trees on your property! I really had no idea that different varieties of wood burned differently from each other. There were so many sparks coming from the pine fire 😮 all I know is that fire made me hungry for s’more’s . I will say it again, River is so beautiful and sweet. I enjoy your videos. Stay safe, keep an eye on River so a bear doesn’t get him 🙀❤️✌🏻
😆I love talking to my dogs and especially my daughters heeler…she really listens like River lol and I’ll keep talking too about anything just to make the head turn
I cannot convey how much I look forward to your videos Terry! I'm working a 40 acre homestead and thanks to you I now own a gorilla cart hahaha. I love it, thank you for bringing positivity to my day. God bless you sir, see you next time!
Great video again. What a difference the woods look like after your clean up, hope the new growth starts up fast. I agree about the bears.....I read Michigan's population is growing, possibly due to better cub survival. Hope so in MN too. They are my favorite animal and one of my favorite days was going on a bear den check and seeing/holding the cubs while Mom got weighed and a new collar. River Dog stole the show once again. May your blessings continue! Donna
River was ready for a road trip!! Your solar lights look very nice. So many fallen trees, never ending task. But little by little you're getting there. I hope you can go to the cabin this weekend, suppose to be a great one in Minnesota. Almost time for a good fishing day. Stay safe and have a great week!
Nice that you are able to tend to some other chores while waiting on supplies. Putting the time to good use. I’m sure “M^ will be impressed once she makes her spring inspection trip. Closing in on 20K in subs. Building Featherwood into a pretty enviable and lucrative compound. Not too shabby for an old country boy, who started with nothing but a few old Kerouac novels.
I think she may join this weekend? Funny you called it a compound! With the bunkhouse addition I've been joking the name is now featherwood compound instead of camp!
@@TRERUNSWILD They do indeed. I cannot wait for my work schedule to either change or get a different job where I can get another GSD. Being gone as much as I am (11-12 hours a day) for work right now, just wouldn't be fair to a dog. Kills me not having a Shepherd around.
Another great video. To bad you don't have a wood chipper. A guy could make some nice trails with all the brush you have. Keep up the good work bud. I can't wait to see how your sap season is. We pulled ours on Sunday. Very short season here in southern Wisconsin.
Another great video, Terry. I would love watching the frozen waterfall returning to its natural form on a weekly basis. Please continue to share it with us.
There is a trick for making sausage gravy, I use powdered milk and then you only have to add water. Works perfect and you can keep it in your cabin. You did a great job of cleaning up the woods, plus the bonus of firewood.
Dog gon! I even have powdered milk in the cupboard! Thanks for that tip! I never would have thought of that. I actually don't drink a lot of milk so don't have it on hand often. I'm smiling!
Awesome video Terry!!! You are getting a lot done this winter. The brush you cleaned up looks really good. You got a really nice piece of property. Really enjoyed the video. Take care be safe buddy.
Nice video always great to go to cabin yes pine isn’t good to burn inside your stove. We have tons of it at ur camp we don’t burn it either. Just for outside Camp fires
I have lots of it. Someone left a comment saying you could burn it fine. I was always told not to. I'm going to have to do some research now. Do you not use it because of the sap or sparks?
Hello Terry and river I guess you feel better doing all that clean up and cutting the wood 🪵 did you put a door on that new building yet just wondering have a great week here from Ontario Canada
Nice vlog share, Terry. I spent time in Yosemite National Park and learned about how the Native Americans practiced forestry before the settlers came. Fascinating subject, so great to see their legacy continues. RD still likes to rest his bones on his film set trailer. 😊 Cheers, Puck.
So true. I 100 percent agree. they do that out in the national forest in South DAkota. All summer they make little brush piles then burn in the winter. they have very few large fires even though they are very dry
Hello. I'm bothered by the question, and if you don't mind it, I'll ask. And how old are you, because what you're doing here at your cottage suggests that you're in your fifties. Unfortunately, this year I was beaten by 78.🥰🥰
Creosote comes from unseasoned wood (wet) pine is fine to burn so long as its seasoned. Burns fast and hot, good for starting fires. It’s not accurate to say burning pine causes creosote, burning any unseasoned or wet wood causes creosote.
That's good to know. The place I bought the stove from said not to burn pine. Any ideas why not? I have lots of pine so it would nice to be able to use.
