Picture in picture (floating window), notification animation, condensed menu with subtexts, ambient display with notification icons, swipe from anywhere to launch app menu etc. Lot of these features already on the Samsung's Touchwiz since the Note7. We know where Google gets their inspiration from.

I'm wishing Google had a budget option of the pixel line. But good thing the 5X and 6P are still solid.

Sold video! I've had both OS's specifically the iPhone the last 4 years. I'm still happy with iOs but I'm really impressed with what Google has done rounding out the OS and notifications. These are the things I would like to see Apple focus on instead of changing icons and font sizes.

Google just want to differentiate themselves from apple by giving us useless dots that doesn't tell anything (unless you hard press on each icon to see what's going on) rather than giving the option of notification "numbers" that are a little better in my opinion.

How can you not prefer the normal Oreo's? They're so nice!

The problem is,smartphone android user using a 3 to 4 years old smartphone like me is not going to get the official version of this for sure,this android version is only for the latest device😧😧😧

Great comprehensive video. TIL you can double-tap text to select it. Can't believe I've been long-pressing all that time. That's actually what got me the most excited. Fast boot seems awesome, but not a fan of the new shaded Emoji look or Play Protect (so far all it's done is make apps install way slower). The rest is good, but either minor or debatably useless (I don't need the same notifications in so many places). Feels like this should've been Android 7.2.

Very cool of you showing ALL the features here! But so sad that google is kinda ditching Nexus 6P... the long press menu is gone, no app shape changer, no notification dot, etc.... T_T

Hey Tim idk if you'll see this but can you do a comparison video of whether the new background limits ACTUALLY improve battery life or not? There are plenty of figures floating around the web some even claiming that it'll improve the life by approx 30-40% (total bs) nevertheless I'd like to see, how good it is. Think you can do it?

I didn't see anything that the S8 didn't already have. Basically everything.

nooooo my bigest hope was that they would get rid of the black and white on the homebar since that it makes your bezel look bigger when it's black and it jus't looks bad in general when the bar is a solid color

Android is becoming more beautiful over time. There was a time when everyone praised iOS for its beautiful UI (including me) but now iOS is nothing compared to this version of android. And as android is emerging over time, I don't think that someone should need a crappy touchwiz or any other skin.

hey Tim, I noticed something about the Android Oreo statue... It's a female android!!! Female hero android, girly things! It seemed that android oreo statue means something than a female android statue... Andromeda is a constellation of a chained woman. Fuscha is a girly color. Robotics, transformations. An Andromeda statue was shown in metalic body in red eyes, very similar to the terminator...

Significant improvements over the previous version. Can't wait to get it.

If they are trying to improve battery life, why did they change the background of the quick settings menu to white? Doesn't white drain more battery than black?

Great show about the 8.0. I have a question for you. I am yet to see the Oreo 8.0 update on my phone yet? I did buy my Pixel XL on the Google store last week and have an At&t Sim card as a provider. Do you have any answer?

I honestly think it was Octopus and Android just wanted to be stuck in there ways so they just googled a treat that starts with O, got Oreo and just slapped it on like a label

i wish we could change the battery status bar like in windows phone, i want to have no percentage showing on the status bar but to show percentage when i pull down the notifications bar

Could you do an OS review of Android 8 on Pixel C? It has had the Vulkan Rendering Engine since the Android Nougat Beta Program. For instance .. I can run the Talos Principle using Vulkan Driver by choice in the game and it runs liquid smooth, anyway it's a tablet before it's time and currently the only Tablet available on the Google Store. Why i tried to use picture in picture via youtube and it didn't work? My phone is 8.0 already. I pressed home button and it just got back to home.

Does anyone know why my Nexus 6p is only showing square icons? I can find a way to change get it. I long press on the home screen and go into settings and where the icon change is suppose to be it isn't there.

My Nexus 5X has Oreo and I have notification dots turned on but I never see any even when I get notifications.

I wish andriod updates were shipped out to all andriod phones, like ios does. That is one thing ios has over andriod.

Why can't I change icon shape. No setting for it at all. Also have picture in picture enabled for RU-vid (with RU-vid red subscription) but doesn't work. Many other options either don't exist in my settings or they just don't work.

This definitely seems like a step in the wrong direction. I liked that I would get new notifications in the top panel and if I swiped them away, the badge Icon would still show that I had an un-opened message. This was very useful because in situations where I was doing something and I couldn't check the new message right away, I would clear them because I still wanted to see if any other new notifications would come in after, the badge Icon would remind me to check later, if i forgot, when I had time to view or reply to that message. This feature needs to be added back asap, it should be extremely simple for them to implement and it should be an option anyways for us to link or un-link the notification panel with the app badge icon. Please consider giving us real badge notifications. If I have 5000 unread emails, I want to see the number 5000 over my gmail icon.
