I haven't been to E3 in-person either. But now that it's discontinued, the day I would check out E3 in-person is no longer going to be a reality. I'm sad that this cancelation happened, but hopefully the other in-person game show events would still be around in the future, including Tokyo Game Show.
I always wanted to attend the event one day. However, the writing was on the wall, and even before the pandemic, E3 was really sucking bad. Aside from Nintendo, the 2019 event was pretty bad and that online only event in 2021 was so awful. E3 was a relic and didn't have a reason to exist anymore.
I haven't been in E3 either, and that's my planned to go and enjoy this place to bring utmost new memories since I'm a Gamers. Hopefully one day, if they have similar to E3, we will goes and enjoy it, to be proud as a gamers like us. In old and new Generations of Gamers
I’ve never been there physically as well but from the past E3 event videos I watched, they did alot of reaction which were entertaining. Sad that everything is now online and we all depend on Nintendo Direct, Sony showcase or watching RU-vidrs live reaction to the above two.
I’m not surprised, but still a sad day for gaming. I used to change my work schedule around that week so I could watch the presentations, primarily Nintendo’s. E3 2016 with BOTW still feels fresh in my mind and I still remember all the hype I had that week.
@@nekomancer47 [💚]nope, playing as the characters themselves on stories which are explicitly inside a game (therefore are probably fictional) with no proper endings isn't as fun as overexploiting the console's features in a tropical escapade with less negative events than sunshine
@@SparkleWolf404and toys r us only shut down in the US due to venture capitalists loading it up with outside debt. The business itself was profitable. Hopefully when toys r us is back in the US there are better protections in place to prevent this garbage but it's the US afterall so unlikely. Are already other countries are able to protect businesses from scammy vultures.
@@SparkleWolf404 I've seen a Macy's commercial or two with a Toys 'Я' Us in the background. Is it set to return as a full storefront here in the States, or just as a section of a department store?
Grateful that Toys R Us never closed in Canada and was spun off as a fully Canadian company up here. But yeah totally agree that it's just sad that E3 is no more. So much nostalgia for that show in its heyday, hasn't been the same for years but it's still sad to see it go.
E3 2018, “everyone is here” was an unforgettable moment for me. Plus daisy got announced and she was my most wanted character. Even though she is an echo idc
The memories when I was younger, looking forward to the 3 days and hearing what got announced. I’ll never forget what it felt like. Good Game, Well Played
who tf writes it out? And I thought it was an acronym of some organization I didn't know arranges E3, because, why would they make it all caps and different font like a logo? gg ez has a certain tenor to it, this sounds like they hired an opera singer to convey their "how do you do, fellow kids" energy.
Asking what everyone’s favorite E3 moment was, while showing off the hands down best moment E3 ever had. Man I miss those days. I miss Reggie Fils-Aimé and his influence - he was so involved and made the fan base feel like they were part of the magic.
Definitely bittersweet. E3 gave us some of the biggest reveals in gaming. It was always like a second Christmas. At least it went out on a high note - E3 2019 was absolutely mindblowing, the Banjo-Kazooie Smash reveal was probably one of the high points of my adult life, I was losing my everloving mind. And then to have it followed up by the reveal for Tears of the Kingdom 😩👌🏻 Pure magic. RIP E3.
2014 was the peak year for E3 if you ask me but mostly due to how fun it was to watch Nintendo's E3 direct that year their 2015 direct is a close 2nd for me would love to see Nintendo do their directs like that again someday anyway, it's a shame I never got to go in person, but it was still a lot of fun watching Nintendo as well as Sony and Ubisoft E3 show from home
The best Nintendo E3 was the first one I ever watched in 2013. Nothing since came close to the announcements of Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Wind Waker HD and the new Smash Bros all in one day. The hype was real.
I only watched E3 2021 but it would've been amazing to go to one E3 or even live the past events. Goodbye E3, you were amazing and thanks for the memories.
My first E3 I watched was E3 2011 I was in high school at the time and just got my first smart phone a week earlier so I was watching all the E3 highlights on a HTC Thunderbolt in my bedroom. Man have times change since then
Very sad to hear as a Gamer. Geoff Keighly has not been able to hit the high notes like E3 has for many long years. I mean the game reveals and the interaction of the devs were what really made these yearly events so special. Like a holiday for gamers. I’ll miss those times.
I got to go in 2018 and it was when Destiny 2 was first playable and they had a huge multiplayer setup. I stood in line for a couple of hours and when I finally got to play I killed it! I ended up saving my whole team and it was so awesome plus it was plastered on this giant screen so everyone could see. It was a feeling of awesomeness I'll never forget. Sad to see E3 go but I'm glad I got to go once in my life. I had dreamed of doing so ever since I was a kid and it lived up to my dreams in every way. ❤
Its definitely sad to see E3 go. Me and my best friend always took the days off from work to see what was being announced and we dreamed of going to an event someday. But, honestly this for the best.
Does anybody remember E For All? It was a mini E3 back in 2007 and 2008 since at that time E3 wasn't open to the public so this was an alternative. I remember going to the first one in 2007 and got to try out Metal Gear Solid 4 for the first time and the experience was unreal. But the highlight for me had to be when I got to meet and take a pic with Koji Igarashi, aka IGA! He was signing his autograph using lots of the actual PSP covers from his latest release at the time of Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles; still have both the pic and autograph to this day. I had no idea that the event was endorsed by the ESA and after the second E For All, it was merged with the actual E3 so then the public later on would have a chance to attend. I was lucky enough to attend E3 2006 through a person that was working behind the scenes setting up the show floors and he gave me someone else's pass but told me I had to give it back once I was done. I got to try out the PS3 months before it's launch and it was quite the experience to say the least. I played Genji and I did fight that giant enemy crab! I was playing the demo through a PS3 dev kit with the Sixaxis controller USB wired. Got to try out Sonic 06 and we all know how that went. Booth babes: nuff said. To me that was E3 at their peak. Sad to see it go but things have to change/evolve.
This hurts. :( E3 has always been my summer Christmas every year, with each announcement that interested me feeling like unwrapping a present. The fact that E3 hasn't been happening the last few years makes it a bit easier for me since I could see it being gone happen. Yet still, this magical event I've been waiting for every year, even more so than for Christmas itself sometimes, being gone will be sad. :( Thanks for everything E3.
Yay can't wait for Celebrities talking me down about my hobby and advertisements! I'm being sarcastic here. But overall the only redemption of SGF is the game announcements that is it.
I feel like that may be becuz outside of the community, people don't take gaming seriously. (Esp Hollywood apparently hence celebs being called in, which led to more ads to afford them)
Impermanence is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand this thing that was will cease to be, never again, on the other hand we have the memories, the highlights, those halcyon days. Every game, every goof, every groan, walks life along with us. While it may be gone now, it still happened. Rest long into time, E3. Geoff told you so.
E3 dead, Physical Media Home Video dead, physical events endangered, I hope physical games will continue to stay strong despite everything is digital now… All we have now is online streaming from RU-vid channels in the present.
Although I did see this coming, it is very sad since I loved watching it growing up. But at the very end, we at least have the Game Awards and even the host himself (Geoff Keighley) has its own E3 brand known as Summer Game Fest. But at the same time, it is still kind of sad that its gone.
It's sad, when E3 was a thing, I was too young to know about this event (events in general) and since around two years I've been getting into these events and hearing about E3, waiting for it to experience it as well, however now that can't happen anymore. RIP E3
For the past decade, me and my best buddies who are scattered all over the country at this point would all get together and stay at my place for a long weekend to play games and watch the conferences. We all went out to a sushi dinner to start. We would get doughnuts for Nintendo's Tuesday show before the E3 award was handed out to the overall winner (a 3D printed Kirby/man statue). We made betting games on predictions for each conference, each round the winners got to eat delicious Japanese snacks, the losers got the weird stuff. So many laughs, so many good times, so many great memories. Thanks, E3.
I really hope that another gaming convention is made some point down the road. It was so cool to have real setups for upcoming games. Demos and real stations of sorts for games is such a cool idea, I hope they can replicate it somehow
I’m not surprised. Mfs too lazy to make exclusives anymore. Everything cross platform and mfs been playing the same battle royale games for 5 years lol
Man... didn't expect 2023 to end like THIS. E3 was such a gaming capital, the hub if what's to come. But with everyone having Directs and presentations, I guess we've just transitioned. Rest in peace and thanks for the hype.
nah this is truly sad, I remember watching those shows online as a teenager years ago and it was such a great time.. I always made sure to get snacks for the nintendo presentation man e3 was the reason I loved june every year (besides my birthday)
Not gonna lie, this really hurts to see... I remember always getting so excited for each E3, it was like Christmas for gamers but now it is gone and that is genuinely heartbreaking... man...
I think they should have held one final big event, knowing that it is not coming back. Have all the major game companies go all out like in the 1990s and 2000s with large displays and live conferences.
I am not surprised, mainly becuase Nintendo stopped going to E3 But its still pretty sad because no more Demos you can play there or the showcasing of new consoles
I feel like there will be a successor of sorts to E3 because that time period is perfect for revealing what is to come before the Holiday season. Summer Fest isn't quite like that because they are so separate from each other.
@@belovedwarrior3192 I might be either a online experience, like with E3 2021, or a physical event at the Los Angeles Convention Center, or both. We'll just have to wait and see.
My favorite E3 memory was when they showed the first trailer for Brawl. I was in high school and stayed home that day just so I could watch a potential trailer for the next Smash game after waiting so long in between Melee and Brawl. The whole day passed and nothing, but then at night they finally showed it and it was awesome!
Nothing says goodbye to two decades old event quite like the jolly Mario Wonder snow theme. But seriously, no event will able to quite capture the “essence” of E3, it was truly special, but this has been inevitable since the pandemic and digital showcases took hold. Speaking of, people still say Nintendo stopped participating when they made the switch from live conferences? Yes I agree that was an early sign of where things have gone, but that was the ONLY thing Nintendo changed. They still had massive presence on the show floor, not to mention their own competitive events they’ve held and the Treehouse streams. Even in 2016 where it was mostly BOTW (with some Rhythm Heaven Megamix thrown in) they were still actively participating in E3.
♪ Where were you when E3 stopped playing/on that December day? ♪ Scrolling through my subscription feed while listening to Bob Ross paint happy clouds on a seascape. I mean, yeah, that sucks that this happened, but I know I was anticipating this for a while.
My first E3 was 95 when it started, and my last one was 2005, and let me just say, it went on way longer than it ever should have. It was amazing at the start, but year after year, it got further away from what it was supposed to be and eventually if morphed in to what finally killed it. Great memories, as were my pre E3 trips to the winter CES when it still had a specific games section before E3 took it over and became it's own thing.
Who knows? Maybe years down the line, they’ll be able to regroup and come back, maybe somewhat differently. But for now, RIP E3. Too bad I was never able to attend in person even once.
Best E3 memories was Super Smash Bros Melee's reveal. Twilight Princess, Resident Evil Revelations reveal, the Wii's showcase, the 3DS Showcase, Playstation home's reveal, Uncharted, bioshock Infinite's first trailer, the first trailer for Zelda botw, and many many more memories.
Due to corporate greed with companies refusing to collaborate, they all want to control the information for their own benefit instead of sharing stage presence.
I guess what happened is that Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, & other developers weren’t attending E3 due to a lack of titles so I guess that caused E3 to close down.
Events like PAX, SGF, Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom are still ongoing. As far as I know, they are still going to be around for a long while since they don’t have the same issues that E3 had prior to covid.
Dang, that's really too bad that E3 is no longer available. I guess that the C-19 virus did put a lot of pressure on E3 into the pandemic issue dealing with in the past and have to do with online only events afterward.
Man, I've been watching E3 events online for over a decade, hoping that I can attend their since I love video games and computers so much. It's devastating to see it gone... Thanks for the memories, E3. 😭
My favorite E3 Memories, mostly Nintendo Treehouse videos: - Super Mario 3D World(Wii U) - Mario Kart 8(Wii U) - Super Mario Maker(Wii U) - Mario Party 10(Wii U) - Captain Toad Treasure Tracker(Wii U) - Yoshi's Wooly World(Wii U) - Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - Super Mario Odyssey(Nintendo Switch) - Super Mario Maker 2(Nintendo Switch) - Super Mario Party(Nintendo Switch) - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate(Nintendo Switch) - Pokemon Sword and Shield(Nintendo Switch) - Animal Crossing New Horizons(Nintendo Switch) - Mario Party Superstars(Nintendo Switch) - Super Mario Bros. Wonder(Nintendo Switch) So long, E3... We'll never forget you. Especially Nintendo Games E3 Trailer and Nintendo Treehouse Live.
i remember seeing the gameplay trailer for Halo 4 during a test at highschool, it was kind of funny running from my school pc to anotherone where i was playing the presentation XD, never been to a E3 but sure made gaming a little bit more special for me
The past has faded away so much this year. First. Wii U and 3DS fully erased from existence. Like. Everything about them is erased. Eshops and every console that isn't the Switch Is now gone and not even mentioned anymore. And now. E3 is just gone. Things have truly changed too much.
The year that the PlayStation conference announced FFVII Remake, showed Shenmue 3 and The Last Guardian during their conference… I was in that audience and it got some of the biggest pops of that year. Was a ton of fun and special for everyone. I also came out in the sizzle reel for PlayStation that year, showing me jumping in the aisle. Was a wild time.
And so it's come to this at last. I've never gotten to go to E3, despite always wanting to. It's a shame. Many folks who DO have fond memories of attending the event miss it even more moving forward, but I really hope there will be some significant equivalent someday in the future, if only for this generation's sake. The in-person experience is important as well as for the industry, furthering the exposure of big announcements.
How I will miss the cringe compilations and corporate jargon. I may sound like I’m being ironic, but I’m not. I sincerely looked forward to E3 and all it’s goofiness every year. RIP. The landscape keeps changing and my body isn’t ready.
Never in my life ever been to E3 since I just watch it online, and I knew it was gonna die, but I still have good memories with it. My best one was the "Everyone is here" reveal trailer for Smash Ultimate back in 2018.
E3 during the golden days when Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo were showcasing everything they could to be in competition with one another. Now most games these days are completely trash!
RIP E3. Among my personal faves will be the 2013 Nintendo Direct mostly because of Mario Kart 8 and Smash Wii U/3DS first being shown off alongside the new trailer for Pokemon X and Y
my favorite E3 is 2010. that was the best most hyped feeling ever when they showed donkeykong contry returns for the wii. i was super happy and super hyped and keeped on thinking about the game every day.
