love the videos man, i have a 2006 forester, and ive wanted to do a lot of the mods you have done so far. great videos, im showing them to all my subaru mates! keep them up.
instead of running your power all the way to the battery, you could make a much shorter run and tap off of your cigarette lighter, or radio power or some other power source inside the car. looks cleaner and if you end up having lights and other accrues all running to your battery, you will find it to be very ugly and a bit too much! also, if you plan to have many other accrues you could run one thicker gage cable through the firewall to serve your accessories in one spot...... sorry, I'm an electrician and a forester fan too. hope this is helpful!
I just had a bit of sheet metal lying around. It’s was pretty thin, like 2mm thick or so, so not as sturdy as I would have liked. I drilled the holes, and cut out the bracket. I secured it to one of the bolts that hold the fender in place just under the bonnet.
@@ignitionoffroad5028 cheers man! I ended up using the bracket that came with it. I just bent it a bit and cut a bit of square bar (20mm i think) and it is a lil loose but the bonnet holds it tight
Very nice subie. Will be following your progress. I have a 2008 that I have just bought (black with gold stock subie 16's). I am going to go yoko geolander 215 65 16 as shes still going to be a daily driver so needs to be half decent on road and in the wet. Still debating on wether to go 1" lift or 2" inch. My offroading will be very modest and only now and then so thinking just 1" so there is not too much body roll on the road. Thoughts?
With the low centre of gravity from the boxer engine you won't notice much body roll with a taller lift. Get the 2', you'll regret it down the track otherwise
Hey you use a sandstorm dust mask or something Anyway love the vids I have a 03 sg9 25x that has a subextreme trans and sump Gard with bull bar like yours (only my is chrome 😏) Hitting lift soon I will be going around the country soon I also have a spare white sg9 03 25x manual for parts motor is in piece but he rest is still bolted in place bottom line if you need something I’m happy to help you out mate
Cheap and easy to use/install. When compared to something like GME however, the sound is not as clear and the speaker does not go as loud as the GME does.
Hey mate, absolutely loving your series. In about 5 months i''m buying a manual 07 XS and planning on heading down your path. You mentioned adding a winch ? Now i've been doing some research on the topic and also contacted Subaxtreme, they say it'll affect the " adr ,airbag approval", seems crap right . But after reading some documents on modifying vehicles down in vic , it holds true " www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/~/media/files/documents/safety-and-road-rules/vsi1web.pdf?la=en " . Im guessing your not in vic but Subaxtreme are based in NSW and says its not legal. They sell Bull bars but don't even add rated recovery points.... I then started looking into portable winches but they seem dodgy. What are your plans ? Cheers, keep up the good series.
I live in Vic and am just going to deal with the fact that I'll have to run some illegal mods to achieve what I want. As you mentioned a winch would not be legal as it would effect regulations, but a 2.5/3' lift isn't exactly legal either.
