The struggle to deal with that one robot who was guarding the elevator in maintenance was some good watching; tense, funny, great stuff. Enjoying the series man, so cool to hear about the history and getting your impression of the remake.
Slowly working my way through watching these, a bit behind from your latest uploads, but just wanted to reiterate, really cool seeing you play this and upload it!
Hmm, who is that guy at the 12:25 mark? :D Really great to watch one of the OG developers play through the remake; always interesting to learn about game development back in the day compared to now :)
Same haha. Similar thing happened with the first instance of the shotgun, earlier in the playthrough. But I m here for the commentary/dev notes and retrospective anyway :D And it delivers gold on those fronts
There actually is a 'remastered' XCOM already. An indie dev named Goldhawk Interactive made a game called "Xenonauts: Strategic Planetary Defense Simulator" a while back and it's exactly a spiritual remastering of classic XCOM, introducing better visuals and mechanic improvements over the original game. Also, Goldhawk is working on a Xenonauts 2 as well, which is aiming to release into Early Access on Steam sometime this year actually.
Just fyi: there's Firaxis XCom that is more faithful to the original. In fact its so good I'd say it supercedes the original! It's a mod called Long War and it's so faithful that even Firaxis Lead Designer said that this mod is what the game is supposed to be if it wasnt pandering to the masses!
24:06 It's starting to trigger me how you still haven't noticed the indicator on the ammo screen for the pistol that tells you what ammo type you have loaded. Please tell me you figure this out at some point in the playthrough. 😆
At one point Marc comments that he's feeling underpowered, maybe because he refuses to play 'the scrap game'... I don't think that's it. You can get a little extra ammo and a lot of extra patches by playing the scrap game but that won't make the difference most of the time. What MIGHT make a difference is the weapon mods, and you DO have to play the scrap game to get enough credits for that to work, but I can't see it making a vast difference. Maybe scrap should have been a difficulty slider at the start of the game, like Combat and Cyberspace are.
@@algorithmancyTube in your humble opinion what would you say is a crucial aspect of a horror game? The atmosphere, OST, plot, antagonist, etc…. Curious to hear!
u are not using your mini-map effectively, ignoring cameras and the like, especially irksome that you didn't find the fairly convenient medbay on the maint level, (still watching...)
